Let me be a mob! - Chapter 84- Dad~1?
Brad’s frown couldn’t have been more twitching and contouring than it was at the moment after he heard the Professor declaring the result of the exploration.
He had a hard time digesting the fact that he has surpassed Jin in the competition of beast hunting when the said low-ranked noble child was surely stronger and more experienced than Brad was. It may be an annoying fact but a fact nevertheless.
The blond noble might have felt a little better at his victory if only Jin would have been ranked second. But now, all he could feel was bitterness in his throat.
“Hey, you.” After most of the students and teachers have left, leaving the small group of students behind, Brad finally unfurled his restraint and pointed his verbal dagger in the direction of the ashy silver-haired boy, currently in the middle of his usual group.
Jin looked back at Brad entirely aware of what the blond had to say. Everyone around him stopped chatting as Fiona looked at Brad with a look that screamed to daren’t say anything foul about her beloved.
But the blond noble, who generally remains aware of his social standings and whom he should not disrespect, was not in mind to bother with Fiona—a higher noble ranking child of the Ducal house—as of now. Brad wanted his answer and he wanted them damn right now.
“Was it a way of mocking the other examinees that despite having the strength to surpass most of us, you played around all the time and let others gain ranks, huh? I may have had a better perception regarding someone of your standing but in the end, you turned out to be a lowly bastard child, aft-”
Brad never got to finish his words since he felt something sharp pressing the back of his neck. Fiona had her hand coated with shimmering electricity but she wasn’t the one who was holding Brad hostage at the moment.
Every person from the group was equally shocked as Brad since no one saw the person behind Brad’s incoming. Well, of course, Jin was an exception.
Before Brad could have tried identifying the person, Aiden voiced out the ambusher’s name in a stutter, “P-President Amanda?”
The heck?!
Brad was as startled as others from the first years, except for Fiona. She seemed to have already registered why the council president would do such a thing that Fiona was about to partake in.
“You may not have heard the rules the administration has listed during enrollment so let me enlighten you, Master Brad, about something.” Her icy voice inched closer and so did the sharpness as Brad felt his skin slightly being pierced and liquid began pouring out already.
However, he wasn’t able to move. This feeling of death… was much more overwhelming than how he felt upon facing the Illusion monkey. Without a doubt, Amanda was strong….maybe stronger than any of them here even if fought altogether. Even Jin looked tensed at her temperament so it was given that the person on the danger point of his potential death, must be frightened like never before.
Sucking on a cold breath, he heard the bone-freezing voice of the same female, “You don’t bring your position in society amongst your peers. Calling someone illegitimate would only make you look like a weakling who knows nothing better than yap and blabber all day long. But I suggest you, before bad-mouthing someone, have a thorough inspection of your surroundings next time. Otherwise…”
“Amanda….enough.” Suddenly a stronger aura appeared next to Amanda before Brad felt the sharpness detaching from his skin.
Turning his head he found a frowning violet-haired lady standing there. Oh lord, Brad has never felt this good upon seeing Professor Lisa before as he was feeling at the moment.
Amanda and Lisa had a short clash of stares before the latter freed the blade and spoke in a firm tone, “You may have authority above everyone else in the student unit and your strength is something well-praised as well, but that doesn’t mean you could take law in hand and swing your sword at any person you judge to be guilty.”
Amanda’s face remained still, with no change whatsoever despite the person reprimanding her as one of the strongest witches in Excalius Academy.
Lisa soon turned toward the pale blond noble who still was struggling with raspy breathing before she told him to follow her. Most likely the healing and the scolding would go hand in hand.
All this time, Jin’s eyes remained on Amanda who despite being aware of his gaze never turned to look at him. After Lisa left, Amanda also walked away without a single word.
Jin sighed and shelved the talk for some time later.

The students were greeted with a grand feast when they arrived at the motel. Most of the students already were digging in, mostly third years since the freshmen were too exhausted to remain on their feet.
Jin and the company returned to their room and after a bath, only Aiden, Rena, and Jin returned to the main hall since the other three were not much hungry after the snack they were served in their rooms.
Fiona looked tired so Jin insisted she remain in her room before he walked down with the other two.
“…you were fighting with the beasts with your eyes closed…? What an absurd way of training!”
Despite wording it out like she was shocked, the gleam in her eyes said that Rena was soon going to try the method to enhance her observation skill.
Aiden shook his head since he also understood Rena’s take on the news.
They chatted about here and there for a bit while having their meals, before Aiden and Rena walked back to their respective rooms. Brad was nowhere to be seen but Jin couldn’t care less about that guy as of now.
Since Jin wasn’t that tired since he didn’t move as much as his peers in the dungeon, he thought of taking a stroll.
The market was almost closing since it was a late night. He didn’t spot any other student or teacher as Jin walked aimlessly before finding himself completely alone.
No passersby, no animal screeches, and no laughs from the local bars were reaching his senses anymore.
Suddenly, a feeling gripped his heart.
The surroundings…seemed a little too silent to be considered normal.
His mind already spread his senses and lips murmuring a defensive spell when suddenly his radar caught something from a nearby fountain.
Jin turned toward the said person before his jaw slightly dropped.
A girl, in her teenage years but slightly younger, stood there with almost identical features to a girl he was familiar with, yet Jin knew this girl wasn’t the same as the one currently resting in the motel.
However, before Jin could have asked the girl about her identity, the said girl spoke something that made his mind blank.
“Hey…dad. ”
