Let me be a mob! - Chapter 8- His eyes!
“Stop please don’t!!”
Inside a cramped wooden floored room which had the very least amount of furniture around could be seen some figures had varying expressions on their faces.
The one who shouted was an around 10-year-old boy who had raven hair and sickly pale skin which defined his thin frame and caved cheeks, evidently because of malnourishment.
Currently, he was being held with his arms on his back, by an older man who had a malicious grin adorning his lips as he held the boy steady in place.
Tears streamed down the boy’s cheeks as he saw the blurry image of an older familiar woman in front of his eyes being stripped by another man who barged into the house along with the man who was holding the ten-year-old boy.
The terrified gaze of the woman who had her mouth gagged with thick clothes along with her limps which were tied to a wooden pole made the kid helplessly flail his body in desperation to save the woman however he could. But to no avail since the hold of the man wasn’t nudging even a bit.
Seeing the other man taking off the lady’s top, the boy snapped and yelled at his highest pitch.
“Okaaaa-saaaan!!!”

*Huff*Huff*
I was woken up by a memory that I never consciously would like to remember. Panting, I clutched my chest and vividly felt my pulse soaring higher than normal. It was not new for me but waking up like this, practically drenched in sweat and huffing like a dog in heat never felt good, to be honest.
For more than ten seconds my vision was dark but fortunately, I haven’t died because of a heart attack and just was facing my anxiety issues. Again, it wasn’t new so I just relaxed my shoulders and regulated my breathing in order to regain composure. It took me a minute but I was steadily walking on my feet.
‘How long was I sleeping…’
By the time when I fell on the bed, it was dark outside, and peeking out of the window, it seems the night is yet to die down, signifying I was dozing off the past day. Well, it was to be expected, given the condition I was beaten up in.
I was already out of the city borders where I killed The Faceless and took his artifact. The reason I was able to escape was again because of the knowledge I have of the world. The detailing of Fiona’s incident carried a POV of The Faceless as well in which he detailed his plan of escape through a passage near the slum area which opens from inside the city boundaries only.
Since the secret path was one-sided, there was no way I could have used it to infiltrate. It also helped that there was chaos ensued in the city because of Fiona’s abduction which further gave me leeway to remain hidden and run away without any hassle. I may have left some clues behind that was why I used mana potions I found in spatial storage of that ugly dude and levitated all the way to the town which was almost three hundred kilometers away.
It took me a day and a half to reach by restless flight and on potion pump but I didn’t want to get caught after so much risk I have taken in this event. I was already running away from the Carter family then a duke or two hunting me wouldn’t hurt, right?
‘After all that, I really killed eh…’
Gazing at my arm I suddenly recalled the sensation I felt when I stabbed the life out of that criminal. I previously thought I would be devasted after killing someone but right now, despite remembering each and every sensation of that time, I didn’t feel anything out of it.
Maybe it was because my mentality was a little unstable because of what I faced in my last life. I am not sure and I have no itch to find out about it either.
‘Fuck..it hurts…’
Moving my body pulled a groan out of my throat as I once again got reminded how tedious it is to push my limits. Levitation to this town was nothing short of desperation so I didn’t notice it at times when I was on the way here. But now…
‘I should probably eat something and prepare…’
The thing I have to prepare for was the second thievery I would be partaking in the library which was situated just three buildings away from the motel I was staying in.
I might be desperate at times for my escape, but I never strayed from my goal.
————————————————–
At the same time, more than three hundred kilometers away from the town where Jin had taken shelter, in the city Mengalf under the rule of Duke Steve Lukehart, several guards could be seen stationed around the main mansion of the city where the ducal lord generally stays.
The search warrants for those who helped the wanted criminal Faceless inside Mengalf are currently under process. Also, the person who defeated and killed the Faceless has been getting investigated through the description Fiona gave.
It took her two days to wake up and naturally she was questioned about the person who took her away and who killed her kidnapper. Since the Duke didn’t want to overwhelm that was why he only dropped his queries when he found her mental and physical health decently stable.
Fiona was not harmed in any manner other than the slight trauma she went through because of the death of her personal maid. The following event was indeed scary and would never fade away from her memories, but Fiona was not a weak sheltered flower to get broken just by it.
In her response to her father, Fiona only kept on repeating the same thing whenever she described her savior.
“Father…it was him because of whom I am here speaking to you like this…please promise me to not inflict a single scratch on him when you find him.”
Fiona was good as a corpse when she got abducted. If not for that shrouded individual who rescued her, she would have never seen the days of light anymore. It goes without saying that she complied with her savior’s request and didn’t disclose the mask which her rescuer took away.
“I understand, sunshine. Now, rest well.” Fiona had no idea what was going on inside her father’s mind when he said that but she could do nothing at the moment rather than nod.
Once he walked away, her mother stepped forward and after closing the doors of her room, with a mischievous smile the older woman asked Fiona in a teasing tone.
“So…the prince charming finally saved the princess, eh?’
Fiona rolled her eyes and turned to face the wall on her left since she already knew what reference her mother was regarding this incident. There were not many who knows Fiona’s interest in prince and princess stories and unfortunately her mother was one of them.
“Nee~ Tell me about him. Was he handsome? Did he say something which made your heart pound like never before?”
Fiona was once again forced to think of the incident on her mother’s call, as she thought about the person who have given another life to Fiona.
Fiona was motionless so even if she wanted she was never able to see his face when he was fighting with that ba*tard but she saw his eyes from extreme closeness. His small yet sharp eyes when he knelt beside her were in clear view. Despite his voice sounding like a person not older than her in age, he exuded a mature aura for some reason.
His way of fighting was not extraordinary…or more like he seemed to be an amateur in combat but what made Fiona extremely baffled was how much he sounded calm even though he was held by the neck and cornered at the brink of life and death.
Despite not seeing his face, the way he held himself and those pair of warm eyes gave an impression that he must be handsome. She has seen a lot of noteworthy faces before but those eyes…she apparently not be able to forget.
And if it was about her heart then…
*BA*DUMB*
She doesn’t understand what was that sensation but she indeed felt something at the moment when he whispered his parting words.
“I am not sure mom…”
Hearing Fiona’s absent-minded words, the older woman smiled as she replied with words that ignited a peculiar flame in Fiona’s heart.
“Well, I wish you meet your hero in the Academy~”
