Let me be a mob! - Chapter 2- Parting gift!
I was cooped up in my room for straight two weeks while practicing my skills and mana efficiency. It was tough and nothing like I have read went such smoothly.
Fortunately, I wasn’t called for another family gathering and was left unattained with two meals per day. It was hefty since my appetite wasn’t much even though I was consuming a lot of energy these past few days.
The reason why I was called for dinner fifteen or say days ago was because of Baron’s suspicion whether I was alive or not. Well, he might have reprimanded Gilbert if he would have found out but that doesn’t matter.
My family ignores my presence and so do I. I have to bear with them until I don’t move to the academy. After that I know I would do something about my life.
‘Let’s see…’
With my upper body bare in view, I stood in front of the mirror and channeled the same tingly thing and gathered them in my left hand. It took ten seconds but the illumination glimmered. It took me some time but I was able to channel mana at a faster pace. If before it took me half a minute then now I have deducted one-third of that time.
The owner of this body was so occupied with his ‘oh so pitiful life’ that he never actually focused on his training much. It felt in the field of my magical aspect I was starting from scratch.
‘That broken protagonist tho…’
As I remember, the protagonist was able to channel his mana on a whim ever since he awakened and from there he never had to train about such trivial stuff at all. Truly unfair.
But not like I would get disheartened because of it since I want to live through the ordeal yet to come and for that I need to get stronger as soon as possible.
——————————————
It’s been a month since I have been training my mana through meditation and some workouts. I generally go into the forest nearby to train my body and even a minuscule I try to raise my mana vessel.
I have workout experience from my past life as well so keeping my body in check wasn’t difficult. But I can’t tell about monster hunting though. I never have killed any animal before other than some exceptions. A human was still far off…
…well leaving that aside, I was now ready to leave the mansion for my journey to attain the spiritual magic.
I informed the middle-aged maid Carol about my departure and in the morning I packed some food she gave me.
“Thanks, Carol. I will definitely pay back the kindness.”
I meant what I said since as I mentioned before, she was the only person who cared for Jin Carter without any hidden meaning behind it.
“If you can stay safe young master then that would be hefty compensation for me.”
I smiled at the motherly maid as I saw her tearing up for a bit.
…
“Okay then, let’s go..”
“Where do you think you are going, dear brother?”
As I exited the mansion from the back door I found my two idiot brothers Troy and Arthur waiting for me opposite the exit. Their smug and their cheeky tone…makes me laugh.
But I expected this since I was the one who told Carol about my departure when I knew that the other maid who serves my brother was eavesdropping.
I could’ve levitated away but I wanted to hand them their parting gits after all~
“You said you were going to gain some field experience, right? Well being your older brother I can’t let you go without having any preparation, can I? Here take this…”
As Troy said, he threw a wooden sword in my direction at a ferocious speed. But maybe it was the continuous usage of mana I have been regulating the past few days which made the sword thrown at my face seem incredibly…
‘Slow.’ I tilted my upper body with my legs still on the ground, before I let the sword pass by my face and raised my hand to hold the handle.
“Hmm?”
I heard a faint sound from my brother who seemed rather surprised by the easy catch but not like I was here to give them some kind of explanation.
“I appreciate that, dear brother Troy.”
They were knuckleheads but not blind as Troy’s aura shifted as soon he saw I wasn’t bothered by the fact that he intentionally tried to break my nose with that throw.
“Quite cheeky are we eh? Good-good…I like that spirit. Now come on and show your brother some love!”
As I said. Knucklehead. He didn’t tell me any kind of rule or pretended intention of this spar and just lashed out at me while coating his legs with mana and using a very commonly known technique called [Body Strengthening].
‘So you are going all out eh?’
I muttered under my breath as I hopped on my spot while using my levitation and saw Troy passing just from the place I was standing half a second ago. He seemed more of a spear user to me.
I took the opportunity of his bafflement and slammed my sword right at his exposed neck with all the strength I got. Oh and I also coated myself with mana when I was at it. Resulting…
“Khak!!”
*Thud*
Troy’s eyes went white as he dropped to the ground with my single yet most powerful strike I could have mustered. I knew if I were to stalemate with Troy, my stamina would have given out before him, that’s why I planned for this single strike and K.O. tactics.
“Hmmm?”
I felt incredible heat approaching me from the back before I instinctively jumped to my right. Even with my swift dash, my robe was caught on fire by that massive globe of flames which undoubtedly was chanted by the other bastard.
“You…when did you get this strong!”
I heard the scowl but answering him while dodging the rain of flames he was consecutively dropping on me was tedious, so I just held back my response.
As I said earlier, despite being stupid these two have gained battle experience over the year through numerous means so Arthur attacking me without holding back shows how conscious he has become of my skills now.
“Hupp!”
I jumped from my previous spot to my left where a fireball landed and roasted the ground. I thought I would be defeating these two fairly easily but…
“!!!”
As Jin landed on his next spot to think how he would near Arthur, a wall of flame slammed over Jin and engulfed the whole area in crimson flames. It was the strongest spell in Arthur’s arsenal which finally seemed to land on his opponent.
“Hahaha! Burn you dimwit fucker!” Arthur enjoyed the view with his emerald eyes flashing the flames which might become the end of the one and only hero candidate of his family.
But it was his misconception that Jin was shrouded in those flames since when the scene cooled off what remained there was his own brother, Troy.
“Khak! Y-You..”
Arthur’s pupils trembled as he entirely ignored his brother’s whimpers and fanatically started to look around to trace Jin. However, he forgot he wasn’t searching all the directions…
“Here’s your gift fella!!”
Only after Arthur faced toward the shout reaching from above, he realized that he was doomed…
*Crack*
My fist was met with Arthur’s left cheek as I heard something cracking before my dear brother got planted on the ground with a strong thud.
I held back in this strike but even so, Arthur blacked out in a single punch. Pity.
Kneeling down I extracted his spatial storage ring from his left hand. I was leaving them with just that for now, since I know there would be an opportunity to demolish this whole household once I get stronger. But since I have destroyed two of his sons, I don’t want to be seen by the Baron who fortunately was away with his work.
I chose this day to depart since I assumed something like this happen. And how much I don’t like that old man, it doesn’t change the fact that he can snap my neck anytime he wants. So, for now, it’s better if I take my leave.
‘Well, taking down the Carters might be the parting gift I can give to my successor? Who knows~
