Let me be a mob! - Chapter 1- Family?
There are six members of the Carter family.
The head of the family, Baron Arkum Carter has been ruling over the post for the past thirty years and had been diligent with his job. But well, since he wasn’t able to give much to the kingdom, he never got promoted.
But that would be not the same for his successor who most likely falls in the hands of the eldest son from his first wife—Gilbert Carter—who is now twenty-three years old and have a great mastery in political affairs Since a very early age he got a hold of his responsibilities he was delegated with and made connections throughout his teenage. He is the perfect person who could inherit his father’s post.
Then how come, that perfect human was cornered to end my life? I will talk about it after the introduction.
The first wife of the Baron–Celary Carter—daughter of an ex-count has given birth to only one child and afterward, she miscarried two consecutive times. Despite the high healing abilities of the world, nothing was left to cure, so they dropped the plan of having another child from that womb and the old man jumped on his near-half-age second wife.
The second wife—Julia Carter–comes from a fellow Baron family whom my old man helped and in compensation asked Julia’s hands in marriage. She gave birth to two sons who were brought up in a very spoilt manner and as a result, they were currently nothing more than wasted adults.
Troy and Arthur. Ah…forget about them since they have nothing noteworthy.
Now, there was me. The only commoner in a noble family who was born from the maid Baron bastard impregnated on a whim and soon I was taken out in this world. The first and last time I saw my mother was the time when I was being delivered. Well, technically I didn’t see her, but whatever.
I had no parents in my past life and I am fortunate this life also didn’t bring me many surprises either.
Now, the fact, why I was a special case in the whole Carter family.
I was a hero candidate.
Now-now. Don’t get excited since there are thousands out there who receive a blessing from the deities of Light and gain the chance to become the savior whom everyone was keenly searching for. Well, their wait is coming to an end sooner than they thought.
Since I was the only one who received the blessing of the goddess in the Carter household, my eldest brother got jealous and came to bite me. And thanks to that, I was able to take over.
I can share his sentiments, since unlike his other two brothers and me, Gilbert didn’t even awaken his mana and was bound to rely mainly on his martial skills. My other two brothers have proficiency with at least one of the elements.
I can understand how Gilbert must be feeling…but not like I was going to forgive the sly bastard for what he has done.
‘Just wait, you ass-licking bitch…’

Soon the dinner neared its end and I was more or less filled up to the brim with the amount of food they poured onto my plate. No discrimination there.
As I sensed that the patriarch was about to get up, I forwarded my request.
“Lord father, can I have a short trip to the wilderness before I go to the academy? I want to have some field experience before I get restricted by school boundaries.”
It wasn’t a complete lie since I indeed wanted to have a grip on these newly founded powers. But more than that I was intending to have this trip to gain something which would make my growth limitless.
I asked the old man in moderation but even if he would have rejected it, nothing would have been affected since I more or less was done with this family. Fortunately, I would be not labeled as rogue as the Baron’s decision came in my favor.
“Do as you please.”
The old man didn’t pay much attention before he took his leave, followed by his two wives. From his point of view, despite receiving the blessing I was nothing more than a lost cause.
I was also intending to rush back to my room when some bothersome snicker reached up to me from the back.
“We will prepare some necessities for your trip, so don’t worry dear brother~”
I wanted to turn around and roast the two buttheads with one-liners, but I refrained since it felt worthless to banter with them.
I sighed and walked away, only to hear more insults on my back.
‘Well, let’s get started with this new life…’

[After 3 days]
It’s been some time since I found myself in this new identity. These past few days I have been trying to adapt to my new body and understand mana as much as I can.
It was explained rather shallowly in the novel as even though I tried to study this phenomenon for continuous eighteen hours, it felt like I was only scratching the surface. In between, I did some physical training as well.
For now, from what I have gathered, it seemed mana was just like our limbs and soul which helps us do things that were impossible to attain in my previous world. It’s everywhere and can be absorbed through the different pores one has in the whole body at different corners.
From what I read, it’s called [Mana Points] from where we suck the magical energy and channel it to form what we require. Once every pore is blocked, said person would die within seconds.
It took some meditation but I was able to locate some prominent mana marks in my body which were on my throat, solar plexus, and left arm. Well, despite I noticed those marks doesn’t mean I could absorb more mana than my capacity by just sitting in a lotus position.
Mana is limitless but one’s capacity isn’t.
Other than researching mana, I tried to understand and utilize my skills as well.
Even if I say skills, I have only two in stock.
First [Levitation] comes from the blessing of the goddess, and second [Mana Detection] which normally most of the awakened can use even if they don’t pose any blessing at all.
I won’t say [Levitation] is a cheat skill since what I can do was more or less to make things float and also can become superman whenever I feel like it. Not much strength or speed, just the flying aspect.
But it was everything I could ask for since I knew there was more to this skill which wasn’t much highlighted in the book.
Reason?
Simple, the other branches of Light Magic are a lot cooler which are Thunder, Teleportation, Healing, and Immersion.
The dope-ass protagonist has all five attributes which only once in every millennium a human gets bestowed with. I was nowhere near him if it’s about sheer talent and blessings.
But I know how to pursue my skills in order to make the best out of them. And there was that too, for which I would be leaving this place.
Spiritual Magic.
Yeah, spirits do exist but in this world, contacting those tiny things has become a wishful fantasy. Wishful since once someone receives the support of the spirits, they could never be rivaled if it comes to magic.
And I know exactly how I can attain spiritual magic.
‘Oh, how nice it is to know your shit…’
