Let me be a mob! - Chapter 15- Young master?
“Is everything proceeding fine with the evaluation?”
Sitting on a wooden chair that had its splat elongated up to two meters, an old man in his fifties with a long white beard asked in a domineering tone while gazing out of his window where several newly enrolled students walked on the Exacalius school grounds.
“It is, headmaster. I am surprised to see so much young talent this year that the competition seemed to be rather intriguing.”
Replied the headmaster’s assistant and one of the strongest mages in the academy. Her violet eyes shone for a moment as she remembered one of the students about whom the old man followingly asked.
“And what about him? That boy with all the five attributes…what was his name again,..”
“Aiden, sir.”
The lady completed the word as she remembered most of the students’ names, especially those who makes her actually interested in their performance in the evaluation and their database.
The old man nodded as he felt some complications along with slight anxiety about this specific first year which has been on the old man’s mind ever since he heard of his awakening. Despite Aiden’s tragic life the boy has honed his skills and nurtured his attributes well enough to be the best student without any appraisal.
However, Excalius academy never judges someone just because of their past record. Until Aiden doesn’t show any sign of being the hero that humanity is desperately seeking, he would be like every other student in the old man’s eyes.
“Keep an eye on him, Lisa, and do what you are best in. I am leaving the boy in your care.”
The lady smiled in content before she nodded and with a bow, she bid her farewell.
“I won’t disappoint you, sir.”
————————————————–
It was nearly eleven in the morning when most of the students were getting their mana evaluated and going through security inspection. It was necessary for everyone regardless of their background or attribute so mostly no one made a fuss.
Except for some who don’t like to show their things to the security board but in the end, they had to submit if they do not want to get thrown away.
After the two checkpoints, students are guided to cross the front ground of the academy and walk toward the physical assessment center. Since the Academy was enormous, the distance from the front garden to the assessment checkpoint was long enough for the student to have a leisurely stroll.
Big trees are decoratively grown on the two paths etched at the sides of the garden with a round huge fountain carved at the center of the field. There were resting benches as well on which some new enrollers had a seat in order to organize their thoughts before the test which would decide their position in the academy.
Since half an hour was left for the exams to begin, no one seemed to be hurrying. And when a drama like this pops in the middle of the field, then who would like to miss the show?
“You dared to laugh at me, bi*ch?”
Just some moments ago a trio of three boys were chatting and walking forward when suddenly the guy in the middle tripped over his own foot and fell flat on his face. Most of the people who saw the scene chuckled muffledly and laughed silently. But the one who got targeted by the embarrassed boy was the nearest girl whose giggle, the boy clearly heard.
By looks, the boy who fell was a nobleman with blond curly hair braided at the side of his head and piercing green eyes which glared at the small girl standing meekly some distance apart from the trio.
“Hey…isn’t he the infamous Count Breamen’s son Brad?”
“Yeah…he is. Lord help that girl now.”
“But would he attack her in the middle of the academy?”
“Who knows? Let’s just enjoy the show now~”
There were people around who identified the boy as one of the renowned titled noble’s son who was famous for being spoilt and a problem child who likes to flaunt his status and force people to do what he desires. Despite being only sixteen he has been labeled with crimes like child abuse and sexual harassment as well but to amount naught. His father dotes on his precious son enough to get blinded in face of crime and name them as just mischiefs.
Most of the parents of low-class families has warned their children to be aware of Brad since coming across him means inviting problem that would not only harm the child but their family as well.
And now, an unknown face has dared to laugh at the young master in his face? Truly a bad start.
“I-I…”
“What I-I, you little sh*t?! You dared to laugh at me?! Do you know who I am? Do you know what I can do?! Do you know what I can do with your parents? Your beloved shitty parents? To your life?! Do you understand the consequences of your action?”
As Brad nearly shouted his words he advanced toward the girl with his eyes turning red in agitation. Spit spurted with his every syllable as he was hardly containing his blood lust from annihilating the girl right from the face of the earth who dared to make a fool out of him on the first day!
The little hooded girl sniffed and backed away with little steps, trying to get away from the situation somehow and cursing herself in the process about why she let herself get involved in this.
Brad was about to lift the hood of the girl and look whether she was even worthy to warm his bed or not as a mean of punishment when suddenly someone came in between them and received an instant frown from the blond boy,
“It’s high time for you to back away since you are clearly troubling the girl.”
Who appeared in between them was a raven-haired boy of the same age as Brad, with his bright amber eyes flashing dangerously at the young noble for the behavior he showcased toward the girl.
The stature of the boy was high and lean, a perfect ratio that any young man could strive for. His aura gave a feeling of someone of high standing despite his hair color signifying otherwise. If not for Brad’s current mood, he might have evaluated the boy in a different light. But now…
“You…You dare to defy me…I will-”
“Hold it Brad before I have to use different means to make you stop.”
Another voice emerged in between as a sudden arrival of a charming silver-haired maiden grasped every attention and made them awestruck just by her appearance alone. Her blue eyes shone brilliantly under the sun as she walked toward the group with elegant steps and halted some meters apart from Brad.
“Isn’t she…”
“Yeah, the Lightning Queen Fiona Lukehart.”
“Man, she looks better than how people talked about her.”
People once again began murmuring but Fiona had no intention of paying heed to the audience as she finished the words and reminded the fool named Brad.
“Using your background as a shield is pointless here since once inside the boundaries every student stands on equal grounds. So remember that, and try to tame your temper.”
Fiona spoke coldly without caring about who the person was at the victim’s end of her sharp words. Even if Brad would have been the royal highness, Fiona still would have come forward and instilled some manners.
The group suddenly went silent as Brad glanced at Fiona for once before glaring at the raven-haired boy as he spat out his last of the words.
“I won’t forget today’s humiliation.”
As he said the blond noble turned on his heels and began walking toward the physical assessment checkpoint, followed by his two lackeys who also glared at the black-haired boy as in formality.
“Thanks for the help.”
“Don’t mention it.”
Fiona smiled at the boy before she also began to walk away since she was already running late to meet someone because of this whole mess.
But suddenly the silver-haired maiden halted in her steps and turned her head toward the side pavement where stood groups of bystanders who were watching the whole scene.
Fiona’s eyes narrowed at the group…or to be precisely at a specific grey-haired guy as a thought suddenly emerged in her mind.
‘Why does he.. resembles ‘him’…?’
