Let me be a mob! - Chapter 12- Destination!
“So Mr. Olaf…you are saying that you didn’t find anything unusual in Senior soldier Alben in the morning and he departed from your abode without any sign of being poisoned? For your kind information sir, unit chief Alben was poisoned and thereafter stabbed in his throat which took his life, so please think before you answer us.”
As one of the many soldiers who came to interrogate asked, the old man smiled and only shrugged his shoulder as he replied in the same manner as before.
“I told you already that nothing I offered was poisonous in my place or do you think you have to ask me rather than taking other customers’ clarification on the matter?”
Today around twelve in the noon, the body of one of the high-ranking soldiers, Alben, was found dead in the central library with a dagger impaling his throat and by inspection, a strange kind of poison mixed in his blood.
The criminal undoubtedly stole away the most treasured asset of the town, The Book of Spirituality, and vanished from the face of the earth before anyone could have saw Alben’s corpse. Due to Alben’s command, every soldier was having a survey of the general audience when the said ordeal took place.
Leaving about the matter of the dagger, the poison in Alben’s blood has spread all over, signifying that the toxin was consumed or injected rather early before he arrived on the duty. Since Alben seemed normal to other soldiers, that meant he have been poisoned by trickery through some consumable item. Since mostly everyone knows Alben’s obsession with Mr. Olaf’s bread and coffee, the investigation naturally landed here of all places to obtain any lead.
But from what the old fat man said, there was nothing wrong with his bread and from what soldiers have testified from the general public who generally eat at the place, they seemed to find no issue in their health at all. Leaving the investigation chief off the mark, on how he should be proceeding.
Threatening Olaf to know any hidden truth? They didn’t dare since Olaf was not someone even the current governor take for granted.
Gloomily all the soldiers left the eatery, as the old man also retired back to his house which was on the top floor of the building where awaited his lovely wife and adorable daughter. After his daughter heard about Rustav(Jin)’s departure, the little girl cried for a long hour before she was coaxed inside the blanket as she slept soundly.
Once inside the room, Olaf sighed at the peaceful sight before he saw his woman approaching and helping him with his shirt.
“Dear…why did you help him despite knowing all the truth?”
The person about whom his wife was talking was none other than the suspicious guest whom Olaf has long recognized as Jin Carter yet he never said a single word since Jin never showed any hostility toward his family.
His wife was also not dissatisfied with what Olaf did for Jin as despite temporarily, he was like a son who brought happiness to her daughter and as a mother, it was enough reason for the lady to let Jin use them for whatever plot he had in mind.
“I don’t know…I just felt he deserved what he was pursuing. I think he might become something which I always wanted for myself and that greed made me extend the helping hand that brat required.”
Olaf had noticed Jin planting the poison in the flour sack but he played along since Olaf had evaluated what Jin intended so he helped to poison Alben and replaced the flour sack in order to help himself and Jin from further trouble to some extent. Jin was destined to be surrounded but this much would get him the time he requires to strengthen himself.
Might his decision proves to be futile or worst case bites Olaf’s ass in the future, but that doesn’t matter anymore. The cat has already jumped out of the bag and only time would tell what destiny was waiting for the boy.

[Jin’s POV:]
I escaped the central library with the prize in my hand while the scene was in chaos. It was not easy since the book I acquired was bound in several mana chains which took me time to unravel through the knowledge I got from my previous life. Thankfully it did not require very mana but the intelligence to undo and so I was here, running like a mad dog as far as possible.
For the first half hour, I was able to perceive something following, be it a varmint or anything else, but through the potions I consumed and my exponentially growing Levitation I was able to outmatch whatever it was.
Before leaving the library I threw Alben’s corpse and impaled him with a dagger that I stole from the Faceless. The significance of the dagger lay in the emblem of a black snake enwrapped at the tail of the dagger. The emblem signifies that the criminal is not someone Bulixia could deal with without calling for support.
But before reinforcement would arrive, I would be far away to get caught. Unless they don’t contact that ranked Order from the capital.
‘If they come…well, I would royally get fucked.’
I chuckled as I dropped my feet to the ground but never halted running. Despite being almost fifty kilometers away from Bulixia, the reason I was yet to take rest, lies in the curse the book holds.
The curse of the Spiritual Book was not something that could have brought the wrath of elves and whatnot since it was destined to be taken by the protagonist so I had no fatal danger from it until I don’t stop myself for more than ten minutes at a place.
Why ten minutes?
Because this book works as a temptation for the beast around the vicinity and whenever I halt the mist of temptation would only grow denser with time and make the nearby creatures pounce on me in order to obtain the sweet-smelling thing, definitely by force.
In the novel, the protagonist learned about the curse the hard way by nearly losing himself and his harem to an A-rank beast, before they decided to flee and only stopped near the temple.
With this book I was a natural enemy of mother nature but not like I could care about it when I have walked this far.
To survive I have to keep running. To stay alive and achieve my dream I have to keep running, that’s all I care about.
————————————————–
It took me eight nonstop days of running and levitation to reach my destination.
The past eight days were hellish enough to make my previous life seem pale in comparison if we count the burden my body weighed alone. Despite all my muscles and the last of my fiber screaming for me to just this journey and throw away the book, I never halted my feet and even in the state of near fainting, I dared to not pause my steps at all.
I used every mana and stamina potion I had in order to continue my venture. I was attacked, damaged, and on verge of falling into the abyss of darkness dozens of times but I never stopped. It was tough, or to say the most difficult time of my life I have ever faced, but in the end, I was finally here.
The Shrine of Sanctity.

A/N:- Next chapter would finish the first arc of preparation and the academy gates would open with new surprises and some cliche development along the path.
I would be jumping from POV in the academy to go into details so please look forward to it and drop a comment~
