Chapter 17: Strategy Order 7 – Defy Earth’s Gravity!
“When you enter a field, you first go to high ground to scout the enemy! —Ouch♡”
“Don’t mix up games and reality!”
After entering the amusement park and walking a bit, I saw a huge information board.
I roughly grasped the map written on it and pointed to the left.
I thought Anela-san would look in the same direction, her heart dancing and eyes sparkling, but contrary to my expectations, she struck a dignified pose befitting a princess and pointed to the right.
That was the amusement park’s landmark, a jet coaster 50 meters high.
I had no problem with jet coasters. I thought they were dreamlike attractions filled with romance, hope, and acceleration.
But this amusement park wasn’t a battlefield, and riding that wouldn’t allow for enemy scouting due to the speed.
“What about the merry-go-round?”
“Merry-go-round?”
“It’s the thing where you ride horses or carriages that go around in circles.”
“Horses don’t spin, you know? Shun, you’re sometimes like the bards who visit the royal palace—”
“Don’t let those guys into the palace anymore!!”
I thought girls would be drawn to the merry-go-round.
But when Anela-san didn’t even understand the term “merry-go-round,” I realized she wasn’t interested in such whimsical things.
Since she started hanging out in my room, Anela-san learned about things that interested her and grasped modern stuff to some extent, but she remained clueless about things she wasn’t interested in, always asking me about them.
That was somewhat pleasing, but it also threw me off at times like this.
“Do you even know how terrifying the attraction you’re trying to ride is?”
“Attraction?”
“It’s the entertainment equipment in the amusement park.”
“Is that about guns? —Ouch♡”
“Where would such a dangerous thing be!!”
Seriously, stop with that word “guns.”
I unintentionally drew the attention of people around us again.
This was too much.
If I didn’t quickly make this game-brained otaku princess understand the fun of reality, I’d end up questioned by the police.
Japanese police never overlooked anyone suspected of violating the firearms and swords law.
Anela-san didn’t even have a way to prove her identity.
“Do you really want to ride that?”
“Yes!”
“Do you even understand what you’re saying!?”
“It’s in Emerald language, isn’t it?”
“Not that!!”
Nobody was talking about language.
To me, it was Japanese anyway.
The fact that Emerald language and Japanese sounded the same made it confusing.
And when this sulky, high-spec princess said it, it got even more complicated.
“Listen, that’s a devil’s ride.”
“Shun, you’re funny! That’s a creature from fairy tales!”
“It’s just a figure of speech!!”
I felt a bit complicated, being taught by Anela-san, who was usually the one being taught.
But I was grateful she didn’t ask, “Devil?” so I’d take it as a win.
I didn’t want to explain further, so it helped that her world also had the concept of devils.
“It goes down from 50 meters high at 70 kilometers per hour, so it’s dangerous for humans, okay?”
“I see, it’s the height of a 20-story building plus the speed of a tank…”
“Your standards are weird, but that understanding is fine.”
By the way, though rare, tanks appeared in “Grand of Gun” events.
Anela-san, being a hardcore player, didn’t miss those events and fully understood tanks’ performance.
“I like high places, so I want to ride it!”
“Don’t regret it…”
Apparently, Anela-san, like fools and smoke, loved high places.
No matter what I said, it wouldn’t reach her ears anymore.
“Stop…!!”
“I won’t stop!!♡”
As soon as we reached 50 meters in the air, the jet coaster accelerated and dropped with such force I thought it would slam us into the ground.
I begged for my life out of fear of death, but Anela-san didn’t forgive me.
Her voice cut off for a moment from the impact of the fall but came back with full force.
I deeply regretted listening to Anela-san’s wishes now.
“Uwaaa—aaah!!”
“This is fun, isn’t it, Shun!”
“Why aren’t you scared, aaah!!?”
This was wrong!!
This was just wrong!!
I thought it would be scary, but was this attraction really this life-threatening!?
My survival instincts were screaming!?
“It’s as fast as a gun!!”
“If you’re going to say that, it’s more like a bullet—uwaaa!!”
No good.
My survival instincts wouldn’t let me converse normally.
I thought gravitational acceleration was my ally, but to be betrayed like this…
Couldn’t I complain to Earth and be forgiven?
Anela-san’s profile, barely visible, looked like she was having a blast.
That was my only salvation.
“Haa… haa…”
“Shun! Let’s ride again!”
“Stop… no, seriously, stop…!?”
Finally freed from the jet coaster’s long journey, I rested on a bench, breathing heavily, while Anela-san declared my death sentence.
My firm refusal turned into pleading because of the terror from Anela-san pulling my hand like a puppy wagging its tail furiously.
I mentally tipped my hat to the sheer physical “pulling” strength, enough to make Dreadful Black Knight scoff.
From now on, I’d never call Dreadful a symbol of fear. That title belonged to Princess Colonel.
“For now, get the water from my bag…”
“It’s a special day, you know?”
“Huh?”
“I’ll give you my cola!”
“Stop!! Don’t stimulate my insides anymore…!!”
Anela-san was empty-handed, but I brought a bag.
When I asked for my water from it, Anela-san rummaged through the bag, grinning, and pulled out her cola.
This was the first time someone’s generosity made me feel bad.
That cola was the one I bought at the convenience store, though.
But from her behavior, I could tell Anela-san was having a lot of fun.
Normally, she’d never share her cola, guarding it like it was her child, so it was impressive that this princess offered me lukewarm cola.
Coming to the amusement park was definitely worth it.
“Shun! What’s that?”
But before I could savor the sense of accomplishment, I looked where Anela-san pointed and shuddered again.
