Chapter 18: The Avenger Reven Adds a New Beautiful Girl to His Party

After defeating Lucky, Reven and the others immediately converted him into a Japanese drum.

“Full beating don!!”

“Gyaaaaaaaaaah!!”

Lucky was restrained in the drum and continuously beaten with drumsticks.

“This is going too far!!”

“He tried to kill me!! This much is only natural!”

The song Reven was currently challenging was “I’ll Beat You Up!” from JAYSAUND’s highly unpopular streaming catalog.

Matching the massive amount of musical notes, Reven punched Lucky’s face repeatedly.

“Hggh… hggghh…”

“Now then, I’m looking forward to finding out what sounds come out when I beat you, don!!”

“Pl…ease… stop… stop already…”

“Rapid fire!!”

Reven struck Lucky’s face with straight punches.

“Not done yet!”

Next he prepared a bat.

“Eek…”

“Baakaho Two-Sword Style Secret Technique: ‘Ten Thousand Grounders’!!”

Saying this, a cannon emerged from Reven’s mouth and fired a massive barrage of baseballs at Lucky’s face.

“What’s with your internal body structure!?”

But after all that, Lucky suddenly vomited blood and died.

“!? What happened!?”

Roaks rushed over in a panic to find that Lucky had apparently committed suicide by poison.

“Kyah!!”

“He’s dead…”

As Roaks and Flam stood shocked, Lumie twirled her hair and said:

“…He was probably trained to commit suicide if captured… to keep him from talking.”

She said this while showing some distress.

Then, a popping sound rang out.

“Huh!? What? What? What is it!?”

Lumie frantically looked toward the sound to find Reven, who had also committed suicide.

“Why are you dead!?”

As she stood shocked, something burst out from Reven’s corpse.

Reven, transformed into an evil spirit.

“Kyaaaaaaaaaah!!”

“Oh crap, an evil spirit appeared!!”

The evil spirit Reven dove straight underground.

Lucky had fallen to hell for the sin of killing many people.

He was also waiting in line with other souls to receive hell’s judgment.

Devils were supervising the souls to prevent them from escaping.

But today, a different devil came from the sky.

“Where are yooooooou!!”

“A super ultra dangerous soul just arrived!!”

After beating down devils left and right, Reven grabbed Lucky’s soul.

“Huh!? I’m already dead though, where are we going!!”

“Baakaho Two-Sword Style Secret Technique: ‘Resurrection of the Dead’!!”

Reven grabbed Lucky’s soul and returned straight to the surface.

Reven, holding Lucky’s soul, threw it directly back into the original body.

“Gah… hah!”

“Huh, he came back to life!?”

While Lumie stood shocked and everyone’s attention was drawn to Lucky’s resurrection, Reven also began preparing for his own revival.

“Alright! I’m gonna revive too!!”

And then, Reven pretended to return to his original body… but instead possessed the body of an ant that happened to be there.

Eek! A-a weird soul just entered my body! No, don’t kick me out!!

The ant resisted, but its body was taken over.

Then, the ant’s body transformed into Reven.

“Resurrection!!”

“Seriously, what even are you!?”

The revived Reven threw Lucky back into the drum.

“H…how long are you going to keep doing this!?”

At those words, Reven answered while swinging an iron ball:

“Until you tell me where Bow is.”

Reven continued tormenting Lucky with methods that would make even torture experts pale.

Even the most torture-hardened person would eventually talk if killed and revived repeatedly. Probably.

“By the way, what are you doing here?”

While Reven was torturing, Roaks asked Lumie.

“Lost my job.”

“Huh?”

As screams echoed in the background, Lumie answered.

“The entire organization got disbanded. Thanks to that, all of us lost our jobs.”

“…So why did you come to us?”

At Roaks’s words, Lumie answered while playing with her hair:

“When you guys wrecked the workplace, I was acting together with you, right? So everyone else was like ‘It’s your fault we lost our workplace!’ So until I find a new job, I wanted you to take care of me.”

At those words, Flam blinked.

“That’s fine but… are you sure?”

“About what?”

“I don’t have enough money to pay you a salary, you know? In that case, wouldn’t it be better to relax at home until your next job is decided…”

“What? Here I am offering to cooperate.”

Then Reven arrived, carrying a battered Lucky.

“Oh, so you’re unemployed with free time and want to travel with us. What a freeloader.”

“You’re one to talk!! Homeless unemployed guy!!”

At Roaks’s retort, Lumie blinked.

“Huh? Aren’t you guys adventurers?”

“I am, but these two aren’t.”

At those words, Flam answered with a slightly troubled expression:

“I get a small allowance from my home country…”

“You couldn’t be… the rumored…”

“Yeah, I’m the princess of Serenade Kingdom. For certain reasons, I’m traveling with them.”

At those words, Lumie was shocked.

“What… no way! Amazing! The princess of Serenade Kingdom!? Teaming up with an ex-Hero Party old guy!!”

“Yeah, but it hasn’t been long.”

After Flam said this, Roaks began to speak.

“I’m…”

“I know. Your name’s Roaks, right? You’re an adventurer.”

“You beat me to it…”

“I heard you’re adventuring to buy dirty books.”

“That’s not true!”

After Roaks’s retort finished, Reven returned.

“And I’m unemployed. It’s my pride now.”

“Wait, didn’t you register as an adventurer?”

At Lumie’s words, Reven answered proudly:

“Got rejected because I’m not registered as a resident.”

“You don’t even have human rights!!”

Roaks’s retort echoed hollowly.
