Chapter 17: The Avenger Reven Turns the Tables

A man emerged from the pack of gorilla-like monsters and grinned as he revealed himself.

“My name is Lucky, an assassin hired by Bow-dono. I’ve come to kill you on his orders.”

However, he was being restrained by the gorilla-like monsters and couldn’t move.

“Heh heh, I heard you were traveling with some weird monsters. Made you easy to find…”

“Uho (Th…this guy’s about to be killed but he’s acting all calm…)”

“Uho! (Let’s kill him already!!)”

Upon hearing this, the gorilla-like monsters immediately drove a hand chop through Lucky’s head.

“Gwaaah!! Impressive… to think you’d wound me, a man with a 47% assassination success rate!!”

Lucky stumbled out from the pack of gorilla-like monsters, blood gushing from his head.

“You’re practically on death’s door.”

“Heh, impressive that you lot figured out I was here.”

“For someone calling himself an assassin, don’t you show yourself a bit too much?”

Lucky made a sour face at Lumie’s retort.

“Noooooooooooo!!”

Reven immediately punched Lucky.

“Gwaaah!!”

“So you’re an assassin hired by Bow. But your skill is only at this level. As expected, the incompetent attract the incompetent.”

“Heh heh heh… Are you so sure about that…?”

Lucky’s eyes flashed as he sliced Reven clean in two with a knife.

“Wha…!?”

“Heh, easy work.”

Reven’s torso had been split completely in half by Lucky’s attack.

Pa-pa-pa-raaan♪

Pop.

Then, from inside came confetti along with a massive quantity of bombs.

“What… bombs!?”

The bombs rolled toward Lucky and exploded.

“Gyaaaaaaaaaaah!!”

The blast converged to reform Reven’s body, restoring him completely.

“Resurrection!!”

“You’ve gotta be kidding me!”

Watching this spectacle, Lumie blinked rapidly before saying to Roaks and Flam:

“How do you two stay with that thing without losing your minds?”

The two gave wry smiles.

“I was basically dragged here against my will…”

“I’m still not really used to it either, you know?”

“Damn… So this is the man who defeated members of the Hero’s Party! What tremendous power!!”

“Uoooooooooooooooh!!”

Reven, carried away by momentum, began destroying playground equipment throughout the park with a chainsaw.

“Kyaaaaaaaaaah! The children’s playground!”

“Finally impressed?”

“What are you doing!? Reven-san, think of the poor children!?”

Flam was shocked by Reven’s (usual) antics.

“Take this!! Baakaho Two-Sword Style Secret Technique: ‘The Fate of Things Kids Have Played With’!”

“Gyaaaaaaaaaah!!”

Reven hurled fragments of playground equipment at Lucky.

“Reven-san! That’s public property! Restore the park right now!”

“Heh, I’ve got that covered.”

At Flam’s protest, Reven pulled out a single leaf and threw it on the ground.

The leaf transformed into a massive attraction.

“Baakaho Two-Sword Style Secret Technique: ‘Reven’s Gorilla Pizza’!!”

“A weird shop appeared!!”

The building itself was clean, and inside, cute mascots seemed to be providing service.

“Is this really okay?”

“Heh, relax. Look closely.”

“Huh? Children are already playing there?”

But those actually coming to play were…

“What!? A pizza place with mascots!! I can’t resist playing here!”

Big kids.

Despite being in the middle of combat, Lucky shoved the children aside and went in first.

“Welcome~”

Inside, Roaks was waiting disguised as a staff member.

“What? You’re Reven’s ally!?”

“Hey now, don’t be like that. Take a seat.”

“A-alright then. Don’t mind if I do.”

He said this and had Lucky sit in a chair.

“Gyah!”

However, there was a thumbtack on the chair.

“What’s with this childish prank!? How old are you!?”

“Still 17, though~?”

“Ugh, this guy’s annoying!”

As the two exchanged words, Lumie appeared dressed as a waitress.

“Keep it down inside the restaurant.”

“That old guy’s weird, but you guys changed clothes way too fast!?”

Ignoring Lucky’s retort, she placed a dish of food down.

“Here, I’m quite proud of this one.”

But this was food made by the terrible cook Lumie.

The dish was blackened, with tentacle-like things writhing about, exuding a blasphemous atmosphere.

“Gyaaaaaaaaaah!! What is this!?”

“Pizza. I’m pretty proud of it, actually.”

Lumie answered confidently, but Roaks couldn’t help but interject:

“How did it turn out like this!? It’s become some kind of new life form!!”

“I ᴅᴏɴ’ᴛ ᴡᴀɴᴛ ᴛᴏ ʙᴇ ᴇᴀᴛᴇɴ”

Lumie’s creation, the “Insane Quattro Pizza,” said this in a fading voice.

“Kieeeeeeeeeeee!! It taaaaaaaaaaaaalked!!”

Lucky also trembled at that horrifying voice.

“Keep quiet inside the stooooooore!!”

“Gyaaaaaaaaaah!!”

Reven kicked both Lucky and Roaks.

“Hey old-timer. I made pizza, want some?”

“No thanks, don’t want to increase my revenge targets.”

At Reven’s words, Lumie let out a light sigh and turned toward the gorilla-like monsters.

“Can’t be helped. You guys eat it.”

She said this and placed it in front of the gorilla-like monsters.

“Uho (It was a short life)”

“Uho-ho (I hope I’m handsome in my next life)”

The gorilla-like monsters steeled themselves and brought the object to their mouths.

“Mmmph! Aaaah!!”

They then vomited massive amounts of blood and perished.

“You did weeeeeeeell!!”

Reven grabbed Lucky and Roaks and threw them into a room.

“Wh-what is this place?”

As Lucky looked around in surprise, he noticed Roaks was gone.

“Kid!? You betrayed me!?”

“I was never on your side to begin with!!”

Reven, wearing a rabbit costume, slammed Lucky down.

“Gwaaaaaaaaaah!!”

“Now then, the stolen base king is coming to kill you!!”

“What!?”

Then, tremendous footsteps could be heard.

“It’s everyone’s idol, Mr. Foxy!!”

As he said this, the gorilla-like monsters invaded the room.

“Of course it’s yooooooou!!”

The gorilla-like monsters grabbed an alligator snapping turtle and pressed it against Lucky.

“Gyaaaaaaaaaah!! I’m being eaten by an alligator snapping turtle!!”

“Getting bored now, so time to finish this!! Baakaho Two-Sword Style Secret Technique: ‘Blade of Vengeance’!”

Reven sliced Lucky apart with the power of revenge.

“Gwaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!!”

With that single strike, Lucky fell.

“Now then, I need to interrogate him about Bow’s location.”
