Chapter 16: The Revenger Reven Meets an Assassin
“Uho (It’s cold…).”
In the park plaza, a muscular old man over two meters tall was leading a large group of gorilla-like monsters out for a hunt.
“Mommy? What’s that?”
“A pervert.”
Reven stood shirtless on top of a slide, ignoring the stares around him. Despite the freezing cold brought on by the icy glares from those around him, he remained bare-chested.
Reven’s first words were shouted loudly:
“It’s cold!”
When he shouted that, the people around him began to murmur.
“Hey, there’s a dangerous guy here!”
Creak… whoosh!
The arrow Reven released flew toward the person who had looked at him.
With a dull thud, an arrow marked “Big Miss” stuck into his head.
“Whoa! Are you okay?!”
When someone nearby rushed over worriedly, the person with the arrow in his head answered:
“Yeah, but for some reason I feel like I need to put on that costume over there…”
Saying this, he went “Ahh-iyaa! Ahh-iyaa!” and prepared a costume, while gorilla-like monsters waited eagerly for the birth of a new monster.
“What the hell is that defective monster?! Hey, don’t go!”
“Damn… looks fun…”
“One arrow can do all that?!”
Creak… whoosh!
KABOOOOM!
“Gyaaaah!”
Reven fired an explosive arrow at the pair.
“Hey, old man! At least put on some clothes, people are staring at you weird!”
“This is the age of warring states! All those with ambition aim for world domination and seek to be the strongest in the world!”
“Are you even listening?”
“To become the supreme ruler, one needs a strong body that can lose to no one! If you can’t endure these cold stares from those around you, how can you massacre all enemies on a battlefield where donkeys run wild and blades fly back and forth—gubaaah!”
“You’re clearly suffering! Your body’s already plenty strong enough!”
When Reven looked toward where Flam was drinking tea, he shouted loudly:
“Begin!”
“Okay~”
When Reven told her, she signaled with her harp.
Pluck♪
“That’s such a soothing sound!”
With Flam’s signal, a perverted man covered in targets appeared riding a deer.
“Uwaaaah! Another pervert appeared!”
The pervert’s face was desperately serious, but because he was covered in targets from head to toe, it was as if he were saying “Please shoot me♡.”
Actually, he was wearing a placard around his neck that read “Please shoot me♡.”
Why he was riding a deer was incomprehensible.
When Reven saw the pervert, he tried to shoot him with his bow and arrow.
Creak…
Reven’s trained body easily drew the tightly bound strong bow, and the arrow was released like a screwdriver.
The arrow broke every tree in the park one after another as it approached the pervert.
“That’s not normal!”
After breaking all the trees, the arrow flew to where the deer was.
Sprout sprout.
Then, muscular arms grew from the arrow and punched the deer with all their might.
“Kieeeee!”
“Why does it work that way?!”
The deer fell from the arrow’s impact in one hit.
From the force of the fall, the pervert tumbled off the deer.
Then the arrow saw the pervert covered in targets.
“Hii…! Spare me…”
The arrow let him go without saying anything.
“Huh…? You’re letting me go?!”
But the arrow answered:
“You have nothing to worry about.”
“What?”
“You’re already dead.”
When it said that, the man covered in targets discovered that arrows had pierced through the spots without targets.
“Wha… when did that happen?!”
“Yeah, seriously when? And why is that weird arrow talking?”
The pervert covered in targets said this and collapsed.
“Alright! Tonight we’re having venison!”
Saying this, Reven snapped the arrow clean in half.
“Gubooooh!”
Since the arrow had no soul, you couldn’t say it died.
Well, it malfunctioned, I guess.
“Good job.”
“Amazing! This person doesn’t even flinch!”
In contrast to the surprised Roaks, Flam said cheerfully:
“What’s next?!”
“Roaks, read it for him.”
At Flam’s words, Roaks reluctantly picked up the scroll.
“It’s probably another weirdo anyway. Let’s see…?”
The scroll read “□oaks.”
“That’s me!”
“Guwaaaaah!”
Reven got punched hard by Roaks.
“This guy’s using people as hunting prey!”
“Roaks, wait! Look closely!”
At Flam’s words, Roaks looked again carefully.
Upon closer inspection, it wasn’t “Ro” but “□.”
“…That’s confusing!”
“Gyaaaah!”
Roaks punched Reven again.
“That’s it! I’ll do it myself! □oaks? Don’t screw with me! It’s probably another weirdo, right?! I bet they’ll show up riding a gorilla-like monster! Flam, please!”
Roaks asked Flam half-angrily.
“Just calm down already. Okay, here we go.”
When she said that, she played the harp.
Then the prey appeared.
“Come on out, you weird gorilla-like monster!”
“Uho?”
But his prediction was wrong.
What appeared was a middle-aged man on a horse.
His name was Grand Tutor Goja.
“Who the hell is that old man?! Who is he?!”
Goja seemed mentally prepared for the hunt, galloping by with a stern expression.
“Confusing! Just go already!”
But contrary to Roaks’s expectations, Goja had a huge target on his forehead.
“In the palace, the King calls me □oaks.”
“Annoying! That old man is super annoying!”
While Roaks was complaining, the horse kicked a stone.
That stone became a pebble that pierced Goja’s forehead.
Then it stuck into a tree.
“He died on his own!”
With Roaks’s scream, someone appeared.
“You’re as noisy as ever. Did something good happen?”
With that voice, Lumie appeared before them.
Unlike her staff uniform, she was wearing fashionable clothes—trendy, bubbly attire befitting a young woman.
“Sexy!”
The moment Reven saw her outfit, he punched Roaks.
“Why did I get hit?!”
While watching the two of them, Lumie sighed lightly through her nose and sat next to Flam.
“I’m sitting here.”
“Go ahead.”
At her curt attitude, Flam laughed and answered.
“I’m sitting here too♡”
“Uho (Go away, you’ll pass on your old person smell).”
Not understanding the gorilla-like monster’s words, Reven sat down next to it.
Thud!
The spot next to the gorilla-like monster was a bed of nails.
“Mmm, wonderful seat♪”
“I really can’t understand this old man.”
Watching blood gush from Reven’s rear, Lumie couldn’t help but say that.
She sighed and said:
“Bichi-san… she’s alive.”
“What?! No way?!”
Roaks was surprised at Lumie’s words.
“I thought she died too. But you know, that person can’t live in public society anymore.”
“What do you mean?”
“That Elmia girl, right? She didn’t just drive her out—she apparently hired an assassin. There was a note left that said ‘Never interact with people again. If you do, you will surely die. We are always watching you.’ When my supervisor went to talk, she was already gone.”
At those words, Flam’s face turned pale.
“Did she go that far…?”
At those words, Lumie shook her head.
“I don’t know. But she must have earned quite a grudge from that Elmia woman. Even if you guys hadn’t attacked, that person would have been finished anyway.”
“I see. Maybe I would’ve suffered the same fate… No, I must already be targeted.”
Saying this, Reven looked around.
And indeed, there was one.
“I am assassin.”
It was mixed in among the gorilla-like monsters.
“Liar! You’re totally obvious!”
