Chapter 52: Lacking In Elegance
“Yes!! I’ll immediately bring that fool, Kaisar, to His Majesty, no matter what it takes. Even if I must cut off his limbs, I’ll bring him alive!!”
And then, the pale man before me regained his vitality and, as if he had just come back from the dead, suddenly became enthusiastic and ran away, his sweat dripping profusely.
“… Clean up the floor dirtied by his sweat.”
“Yes!! Right away!!”
Just imagining how to punish Kaisar for spitting on my face excites me for his arrival.
And so, I returned to my usual daily routine.
◆
[Kaisar’s POV]
Judging from how I sent such a one-sided letter, there’s no way that the current Emperor, Gaius Do Gold, wouldn’t take any action upon seeing my reply—there is no doubt my response incurred his wrath—.
But I never thought a large group of assassins would be sent to the Kvist family the very night the letter arrived.
It’s clear that I’ve provoked Gaius’s anger to such an extent, but as his name as a tyrant is notorious even among the citizens, it’s somewhat easy to speculate about his thoughts.
He probably doesn’t care if he’s found out, given that he’s sent so many assassins. Perhaps he even instructed them to bring me alive by any means necessary.
In this case, the worst-case scenario the instructed individuals would consider is me escaping, and if I manage to, they wouldn’t be able to show their faces to Gaius.
So to eliminate any escape routes, they’ve surrounded the Kvist family mansion with a large group of people likely gathered through offering a substantial reward to whoever captures me alive.
I know they want to capture me alive instead of killing me because they used my family as bait to lure me in as hostage without killing them. If they were willing to kill me, they would have killed my family as well, so it must be their strategy to use them as hostages.
Now, what should I do?
I could kill everyone, including those surrounding this mansion, but that would lack elegance and be no different from the incompetent methods of Gaius. So I’ll put that on hold for now.
If I want to hit someone, I should punch Gaius, who’s giving orders to hinder me. It’s different punching someone who’s acting on orders.
