Chapter 37: Training Camp

A Few Days Later, at My Home.

“Here’s to celebrate Kanato-kun’s victory over Geese…!”

“”CHEERS!!””

Everyone raised their glasses at Keltz-sama’s voice. There were eight people inside this dilapidated house at dusk. Me, Rina, Elena-sama, Jeff-sama, Mia-sama, Keltz-sama, Albert-sama, and Hannah-sama. 

We were gathering around the cramped table, regardless of our status or age. There were some dishes that I made like okonomiyaki, takoyaki, yakisoba and a lot of fresh seafood that Keltz-sama and Albert-sama had brought.

Delicious smell wafted throughout the house from the table. As for drinks, we had various juices made from fresh fruits grown at Keltz-sama and Albert-sama’s residences. Of course, the two of them were drinking what I assume was a very expensive wine instead of juices. 

The people who held significant influence over this kingdom were gathering inside our run-down house to celebrate my victory. The juxtaposition of these two were really uncanny. Even though they were busy, but they actually took the time to come see me in person. They also praised me. 

“Wonderful! Well done, Kanato-kun!” 

 Hence why I gave it my all in cooking all of these food for them. We were having Japanese B-grade gourmet food today. Of course, it would be quite difficult to prepare enough food for eight people on my own so Hannah-sama and Mia-sama also helped me.

“O-Onii-shama…. Slurp…”

Rina drooled while looking at me with a hopeful gaze. She must be trying to rein herself in because we had guests over. 

Mia-sama gently wiped Rina’s drool with a napkin. After she wiped Rina’s drool, Mia-sama also looked at me with a hopeful gaze. 

Of course, Rina and Mia-sama weren’t the only ones looking at me like that. Everyone kept sending me hopeful gaze, eager to eat the food I had made as soon as possible. 

I smiled. 

“Please, help yourselves.”

I said and everyone immediately dug into the takoyaki, okonomiyaki and yakisoba I had made. 

Watching this scene unfolding before me, for some reason, my heart felt healed. Of course, Rina’s presence brought me great comfort too but having friends who supported and helped me like this was truly heartening.

After all, I wasn’t blessed with wonderful companions such as them in my previous life. 

“Uuuu…. Delicious… So delicious…”

“Onee-sama, is it so delicious to the point of tears? It’s improper to cry over just one dish, Onee-sama. No matter how delicious Kanato-san’s food is, to be moved to the point of tears….!! Thi-This is… So-So delicious… Uuuu…”

Hannah-sana and her little sister, Mia-sama, were eating my takoyaki while crying. 

I was a bit taken aback upon witnessing their lively conversation so I looked at the other and…

“Otou-sama, this dish called okonomiyaki is really delicious, right?~”

“Indeed~ Once you come to know of this flavors, you really can’t stop yourself from dancing~ ♫”

“Ahahahahaha~”

The blonde father and son duo were holding hands as they danced together. 

Oi, it’s cramped here. If you guys move around too much, you will get dust all over you. Please refrain yourself from dancing inside… Well, even if I say something out loud, I don’t think they’d listen to me anyway. 

Feeling a  bit exhausted, I turned my attention to Keltz-sama and Elena-sama. 

“….”

The two of them were looking at me with a triumphant look on their face, like they were proud of me. Occasionally, they would take a bite of the yakisoba and send a passionate gaze to me. 

Their passionate gaze was a bit too much for me to handle so I averted my gaze away and there…

“Fufu~”

I saw Rina smiling happily. Her cheeks were full of food like a hamster chewing on sunflower seeds. Upon noticing my eyes, she smiled brightly at me. 

After we finished eating, we relaxed over a cup of tea. 

Then, Keltz-sama started talking with a serious expression on his face. 

“Kanato-kun.”

“Yes?”

“You’ve made a name for yourself among the nobles.”

“I-I have…?”

“A commoner who defeated a Level 5 noble. Your actions left the nobles feeling threatened.”

“Threatened?”

“That’s right. Until now, the nobles have ignored and discriminated against the commoners who can use magic because they want to hog their privileges all to themselves. However, things are changing and that change is triggered by your existence, Kanato-kun.”

Well, that Geese guy had to take a leave from school to treat his body. According to the information I received from Keltz-sama, it seemed Geese had to focus on healing his body for at least a year. 

“However, the nobles are formidable opponents. They won’t give up the privileges they’ve gained by abusing commoners and slaves that easily.”

“…They will probably fight tooth and nail to protect it.”

“But there’s a positive change.”

“Positive change?”

“Rhea-sama and Selene-sama are suspecting the Percy family now.”

“I… See….”

Indeed. Harry’s behavior in the party was really suspicious…

I thought to myself and then, I saw Keltz-sama clenching his fist, seemingly frustrated. He slammed the table before speaking.

“The Percy family needs to be crushed at all cost.”‘

“….Why?”

Sensing the sudden change in the mood, I asked carefully, curious. 

Then, Albert-sama answered. 

“Because they are the ones responsible for the birth of Genesis.”

Albert-sama gripped on his wine glass tightly, creating ripples.

It seemed they knew something more about Genesis but I thought it wouldn’t be good to ask them about it now I simply stared at Albert-sama, who was trying hard to suppress his anger. 

But then, Albert-sama suddenly smiled. 

“We’re celebrating Kanato-kun’s achievement now. Let’s save the heavy topic for later, okay? By the way, Kanato-kun, do you and your little sister have any plans for the holiday?”

“The holiday, huh…”

Right. We have a week-long holiday starting next week. 

My little sister and I looked at each other. 

Well, we’re planning to just relax at home together since we’ve been so busy lately…

“Nothing in particular.”

I answered and Keltz-sama’s eyes suddenly gleamed happily. 

“Hm… So you’re free then. Well, I have a suggestion. How about having a training camp at my villa in Leiden?”

“”Training camp?””

All members of Five Star asked, our voices harmonized perfectly. 

“Kanato-kun, you’ve done well so far but… I still want my daughter to be stronger so she can have the strength to support you, Kanato-kun.”

“No, I think Elena-sama is already strong enough…”

“Not enough. She still has some way to go. She needs more guidance from you, Kanato-kun. The training you guys do after school is not enough. If possible, I want you give her a one-on-one lesson at the villa. Just you and Elena, fully focused on training. Of course, I’ll be sure to pay you handsomely for it.”

Elena-sama bashfully nudged Keltz-sama’s side. 

“Onii-sama… I want to go too. I want to join the training camp…”

“I… I want to play with Elena-sama and Mia-sama too!”

“You already assumed we’d just play around, huh…”

I said wearily and suddenly, Rina clung to my arm. She looked up to me with upturned eyes, begging me.

“Onii-sama…”

Seeing I was still having trouble deciding, Albert-sama added. 

“Rina-chan, Leiden is a great place, you know~ It has beautiful hot springs, mountains and of course, lots of delicious food!~ In fact, the hot springs in Leiden is famous for having incredible effect for a beautiful skin~”

“Be-Beautiful skin?!”

Mia-sama then delivered the final blow to further pique Rina’s interest. 

“The hot springs with skin beautifying effects are typically reserved only for the noble but in Keltz-sama’s villa, you can enjoy the hot spring as much as you want.”

Mia-sama said as she slowly traced Rina’s cheek with her finger.

Rina squeezed my arm even tighter, trapping me in the prison of his giant marshmallow.

Sighing, I nodded.
