Chapter 38: Misunderstanding

The Next Day, at the Student Council Room

“The referee who committed misconduct was found to be related to Geese-san. Therefore, based on the result of the disciplinary committee meeting, the referee shall be dismissed from his position. As for Geese-san,his punishment will be decided after he has recovered.”

“I see. That explains a lot. I thought the referee was acting strange too.”

“Bern-san shall receive his due punishment for causing troubles based on his malicious intentions.”

After I ate lunch, I was summoned by Luna-sama to talk about the recent incidents. 

To put it simply, things were going well for me. Although I knew Keltz-sama must be working behind the scenes to help me, but I had to acknowledge Luna-sama had played a significant role in the recent turn of events too. 

“Umm… Thank you.”

“Huh? Why are you thanking me?”

Luna-sama’s eyes widened as she asked me. The lighting in the room wasn’t turned on but the sunlight peering into the room that illuminated her back created a picturesque scene. The outline of her silver hair emphasized by the sunlight, specks of dust shimmered like beautiful snow particles, everything harmonized perfectly with Luna-sama, who tilted her head to the side in confusion. 

No matter what, I couldn’t stop myself from praising her beauty. 

“If Luna-sama didn’t interfere, Geese would’ve died.”

“….That is true. Other students are still underestimating you. They refuse to face the reality simply because of your status but I know, you can easily kill a Level 5 like Geese.”

“….”

“You are strong. Incredibly strong…. That’s why I still feel the need to monitor you more closely.”

“N-No… I’m just an ordinary man…”

“When you’re the one saying it, it feels like you’re boasting…”

With that, Luna-sama stood up from her seat and averted her gaze from me. Her cheeks were flushed in pink.

I was taken aback by her sudden action but then, Luna-sama spoke in a barely audible voice, like she could disappear anytime soon.

“U-U-U-Umm… Kanato-san, do you have any plans for the holiday?”

“Umm… I guess? More or less?”

“Huh?! You do?!”

“Yeah.”

“….”

Luna-sama sighed, seemingly disappointed before she stared at me with a dejected expression on her face. 

“I knew it.. Kanato-san will be spending his holiday playing around with the girls after all…”

For some reason, Luna-sama was talking like an ordinary young maiden. 

Playing around with the girls, huh… Well, technically speaking, Rina already set on playing around to her heart’s content in Leiden and Mia-sama seems so excited too. In fact, I could hear them planning all sorts of activities to do at Leiden back at our house. 

“Well, yeah. I guess. But it’s not like we’re only going to play around.”

Yes. This is still a training camp. To be honest, I want all members of Five Star to get stronger, not just Elena-sama. They all have so much potential and if we can find the right training method for them, I’m sure we can aim for the top together. 

I was imagining the future where all members of Five Star grew stronger while making a guts pose and Luna-sama looked shocked. Her mouth was hanging open, she had a sharp look on her face as she spoke.

“Don’t tell me… You’re going to do more than just play around?”

“Huh?”

“I do have to admit, Kanato-san is really strong but… And you’re not a noble but still… To have an impure relationship with commoner girls…”

“Umm… Luna-sama?”

At first, Luna-sama was still speaking confidently but midway through, her voice grew quieter to the point all I could hear was incomprehensible mumbling. 

She mumbled on her own for a few seconds until her eyes suddenly widened. She looked up quickly, as if she suddenly remembered something. 

“Kanato-san.”

“Ye-Yes?”

“Are you aware about Central Magic School rules regarding ‘Relationships Between Male and Female Students’ Article 5 of Chapter 1?”

“No, I’m afraid not. I’m not familiar with the rules.”

It hasn’t been long since I entered this school. There’s no way I could remember all the school rules in such detail. Luna-sama is really amazing. She remembers all the rules up to the perfect detail. If this were Japan, she would definitely pass the bar exam with flying colors. 

While my mind was busy thinking about useless things, Luna-sama suddenly declared with a loud voice.

“Any sort of illicit sexual relationship is prohibited in this school!!”

“….”

What is she talking about….?

“Umm.. Luna-sama, I don’t think I understand what you mean by that?”

“Kanato-san, putting you under surveillance was the right thing indeed. At Central Magic School, we need to uphold noble etiquette. Which is why, allow me to help you.”

“Help…?”

“During the holiday, instead of spending illicit time with a young girl, please spend it with me. I will personally teach you how a student of Central Magic School should behave.”

“Young girl? You mean Rina?”

I was a bit shocked. Luna-sama, the embodiment of grace and intelligence, referred to my little sister as ‘young girl’…. 

“Are you feigning ignorance? Or perhaps.. You plan on having an illicit relationship with other lewd commoner girls?”

“None…? I’m going to Leiden to have a training camp with all members of Five Star for the holiday.”

“Huh? Training camp?”

“Yeah. Training camp. In fact, I don’t know any lewd commoner girls….”

I scratched the back of my head awkwardly. Luna-sama froze still for a few seconds, seemingly forgetting to even breathe.

Then, all of a sudden her face flushed in deep red. She pointed her shaking fingers at me as she spoke in rapid speed. 

“Since you’re in that group, Five Star is also a group that requires my attention!  Other nobles are very wary of you all!! Gathering enough information is crucial for gaining the noble’s trust so I shall join your training camp too!!”

“Wha-What?!”

“I won’t accept ‘no’ for an answer. As the president of the student council, I’ve made my decision. You have no right to refuse!”

“No, now you’re just being unreasonable…”

Just a moment ago, she was talking about lewd commoner girls and the etiquette of a noble. As the eldest daughter of Duke Lennox, she always stood on the neutral ground and yet…

I sighed.

The Day of the Training Camp, in Front of the Fibel’s Residence

“”Luna-sama?!””

The members of Five Star, except for me and Elena-sama, widened our eyes in surprise at Luna-sama’s sudden appearance. 

“….I shall be monitoring all of you for the duration of the training camp.”

Well, I already told all members of Five Star beforehand that Luna-sama would be joining us but seeing her in person still came off as a surprise I guess.

“Luna-sama!!”

However, my little sister was quick to change her mood. She quickly rushed over to Luna-sama and swiftly grabbed Luna-sama’s hands. 

“-?! Rina-san….”

“Thank you so much for sharing your magic power with me during the Red Dragon incident! Let’s go to Leiden together and have lots of fun there!”

“No, as I mentioned before, I’m only here to supervise-“

“Now! Please get inside the carriage!”

“Wa-Wait!!”

Luna-sama was about to get forcibly dragged by Rina but then, suddenly someone else grabbed Luna-sama’s hand, stopping them in their tracks. 

“Luna-sama…”

“….”

Luna-sama, who had her hands held by Elena-sama, looked clearly confused. Both of them glanced at me briefly before the two of them narrowed their eyes at each other.

I could see blazing red flame on Elena-sama’s back and vigorous blue flame on Luna-sama’s back. 

Startled, Rina quickly ran to me. She clung to me, seemingly afraid of the two noble ladies. On the other side, Jeff-sama and Mia-sama were staring intently at me. 

Just what is happening here… Ah…. This is all because of Keltz-sama… Because he came up with the idea of a training camp… I’m not the one at fault, okay? Keltz-sama is.

“To get the eldest daughter of the Lenox family involved with us… Kanato, you’re truly a frightening man. I can’t afford to stay still now that the number of competitors has increased.”

Hearing the voice of a middle-aged man, I glanced toward the mansion. There, I saw Keltz-sama watching over us while pumping his fist into the air in a victory pose.
