Episode 148: As Expected of the Older Sister

“Oh, you mean that thing with avoiding being hit on? Well, if it’s just that much… it’s not a burden at all, so I think it’s totally fine.”

It’s true that Suzumine-san relied on me to help her avoid getting hit on, but in the end, all I had to do was hang out with her.

I wasn’t being asked to do anything, so it didn’t feel like a burden.

…Huh? Why?

“Uh… did I say something strange?”

“No, it’s just… Shirai-san, you really are oblivious in that way, aren’t you? If you take on too much without realizing it, by the time you do notice, it might already be too late…”

Apparently, my comment only made Sasagawa-sensei even more concerned.

That’s weird… I was trying to reassure her that everything’s fine—so how did it end up like this?

“Since you’re unaware of it yourself, no matter how much I say, I doubt you’ll ever feel a sense of danger…”

She sighed like she’d just given up on me.

Am I really that bad?

“Let’s move the conversation forward. At this rate, we’re not going to get anywhere.”

Yeah… I’ve definitely been written off.

She probably just labeled me as someone you can’t reason with.

“I don’t mind, but…”

“This current situation is largely influenced by your personality, Shirai-san, so I don’t think it’s something that can be easily resolved. Plus, Misaki isn’t going to leave your side, and I doubt you’ll ever stop taking care of Kokoa-chan.”

Sasagawa-sensei said this again, looking serious.

Is it really okay for her to be so firm about my own little sister?

…Well, she’s not wrong.

Misaki does refuse to let go of me.

And when it comes to Kokoa, she’s my precious sister—of course I wouldn’t stop raising her.

“That’s why, when it comes to Kokoa-chan and housework—please don’t hesitate to rely on me. And if you’re ever troubled by anything else, just like I said earlier, feel free to come to me. I’m an adult, after all. I can support you.”

She really is offering to help carry the burden I’m holding alone.

Since Kokoa likes her, it would benefit her too—so it’s a generous offer.

But—wait a second.

Didn’t Sasagawa-sensei just correct herself when she mentioned housework?

It was like she was about to say she’d handle the housework too, then remembered she couldn’t do it and quickly covered it up…

She may seem perfect, but I guess that’s what makes her Misaki’s older sister.

That little absentmindedness slipped out.

In terms of daily life, Misaki is clearly more capable.

At the very least, Misaki probably wouldn’t go walking around the house naked or sleep in the nude.
