I became the boyfriend of the school's madonna, who had turned down numerous confessions, but somehow, without realizing it, I wasn't just playing a role anymore - Chapter 149
Episode 149: Actually a Bit Troublesome
“I do rely on you, Sasagawa-sensei.”
I said it with a smile.
In truth, she’s probably the most dependable person in my life right now.
Mom’s busy with work, Kokoa obviously isn’t someone I can lean on, and Misaki… well, she’s not exactly reliable either.
As for Suzumine-san, I feel like if I tried to rely on her, she’d just frown or brush me off—so really, the only person I can talk to is Sasagawa-sensei.
“But doesn’t it feel… a bit formal? Like we’re keeping each other at arm’s length?”
The moment I finished speaking, Sasagawa-sensei cut straight to the point.
Yeah… she’s definitely someone you wouldn’t want to have as an opponent.
“Well, we’re not exactly close enough for that level of trust…”
Originally, our relationship was simply daycare staff and the guardian of a child.
Now it’s shifted to something like my girlfriend’s older sister, but even so, it’s still a distant connection.
It’s not like I can just casually confide in her about everything.
And more importantly, the idea of bothering her with my problems makes me hesitate.
“That’s exactly what I want you to stop worrying about. At this point, you’re practically Misaki’s fiancé.”
A bombshell from the ever-serious Sasagawa-sensei.
Ah… right.
So we’re going that far with this now, huh?
I’ve had this feeling since she let me stay over that night—but she’s lowkey doing the same thing Misaki does: slowly boxing me in.
Actually, it feels like she’s already finished circling the castle and is now sealing off the escape routes.
“Ah—right! Let’s change how we address each other!”
With a spark in her eyes, she lit up as if struck by a brilliant idea.
Of course, with a suggestion that was far out of left field, I was completely thrown off.
“Eh…?”
“Please call me Onee-chan! And I’ll start calling you Raito-kun!”
Clearly, she’s trying to shorten the distance between us.
But I didn’t expect her to go this far… not from her, of all people.
This is… a lot to handle, in more ways than one.
“That’s a bit… embarrassing…”
Even if she is Misaki’s older sister, I can’t bring myself to call her “Onee-chan.”
She was someone I used to admire, which only adds to the awkwardness.
And on top of that, I have no idea how Misaki would react—Kokoa might even get confused.
At the very least, Misaki would definitely hate the idea of her sister calling me “Raito-kun.”
“But… won’t you call me that eventually, someday?”
Suddenly, Sasagawa-sensei looked downcast, gazing at me with sad eyes.
Th-This family… they’re way too alike!
Pulling that expression right now is just unfair…!
While I was screaming internally, I seriously tried to think about what to do.
If I wanted to play it safe, calling her Misora-san would be the best choice.
But that only works if Misaki isn’t already suspicious or hostile toward her.
Given the current cold war between them, if I suddenly started calling her “Misora-san,” I’d be lighting the fuse myself.
I have to avoid that at all costs.
But calling her “Onee-chan” is just too embarrassing… and rejecting her now, especially after she made that face…
Seriously—what’s the right move here!?
