I Became a Teacher at an All-Girls Boarding School, and Now the Students and Female Teachers Are After Me~ - Chapter 32 - The Rumor
Chapter 32 – The Rumor
Sakurada ended up leaving school early that day, claiming she wasn’t feeling well.
I don’t know the details, but I figured there had to be a good reason.
Miyashita-san seemed like a decent guy, and I knew he was doing what he thought was best for Sakurada. So maybe the smartest move was to just let him handle it.
It was pretty obvious that her weird behavior and the sudden visit from that Mifune politician were connected.
I want to help her, but like Miyashita-san said, getting involved might just make things worse.
Still, it’s hard to shake this feeling of unease.
And then, in the following days, something happened that made me even more uneasy.
Sakurada stopped coming to school.
The reason was still “illness,” but I’m not dumb enough to believe that.
So, I decided to go to the girls’ dorm under the pretense of a sick visit. But she had already gone back home to recuperate, so I couldn’t even see her.
“Ugh, what the hell do I do…?”
“Ryuuki-kun, here, ahnn…”
“Ahnn…”
It’s been a week since Sakurada disappeared.
Right now, I’m at home, eating Miyama-sensei’s home cooking.
It’s frustrating, but the food is as delicious as ever. Still, my mind is completely focused on Sakurada.
What happened to her? Is there anything I can do to help?
I kept asking myself these questions with no answers in sight. Miyama-sensei noticed and pouted at me.
“Ryuuki-kun, I worked really hard to make this for you.”
“Huh? Oh, yes. Thank you, it’s really delicious.”
“It’s bad manners to think about another girl while eating my food, you know?”
“…Sorry.”
“It’s fine.”
Miyama-sensei said with a smile.
It seems she’s figured me out.
Of course, she knows that Sakurada hasn’t been coming to school, and she also knows that my mind has been somewhere else lately.
It was probably easy for her to guess that I was thinking about Sakurada.
“Miyama-sensei, aren’t you worried about Sakurada?”
“I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t, but it’s not that uncommon.”
“Oh, really?”
“Well, this is one of the most prestigious girls’ academies in the country, right? It’s pretty normal for students to be pushed around by their families’ circumstances…”
“So Sakurada’s problem is also about her family, then?”
“I don’t know the details, but it’s probably just the fate of a child born into a prestigious family.”
Miyama-sensei said this with a knowing look. I looked at her and felt a question stirring in my mind.
Is it okay to ask this?
“Miyama-sensei…”
“What is it, Ryuuki-kun?”
“Have you ever had a similar experience? It might be rude to ask about your family, but your family is pretty wealthy, too, right?”
I still asked the question, knowing it was a little too personal.
“I have.”
Miyama-sensei answered with a smile, much to my surprise.
“My dad tried to force me into an arranged marriage. The other party was the next president of a major company, so it wasn’t a bad deal, but I turned it down.”
“Why did you turn it down?”
She gave me a deadpan look.
“Are you saying I’m a woman who’s only interested in money?”
“N-no, that’s not what I’m saying…”
“I’m not interested in rich men. Sure, it’s better to have money than not, and I’ve been taking advantage of my family’s wealth, but I don’t want to marry someone I don’t love just because they’re rich.”
“So what happened?”
“I just turned him down. He was persistent, so I decided to punch him.”
Miyama-sensei said casually.
“Y-you punched him…?”
“Of course I did. The guy I was supposed to marry was a perverted old man who was looking at my body like he wanted to lick it. I had to reject him with all my might.”
I could see why Miyama-sensei would react that way.
“I told ny dad if he forced me to marry, I would never speak to him again, and he gave in right away.”
“I-I see…”
It seems Miyama-sensei was able to solve her problem by force.
The fact that her father gave in so easily probably meant that he loved her so much that he couldn’t stand the thought of losing her.
Just as I was thinking this, I heard the words “Minister Sakurada” on the TV.
I haven’t been paying attention, but it seems to be a news program.
Minister Sakurada must be Sakurada’s father.
I looked at his face on the screen and was reminded again that Sakurada Momo came from a powerful family.
The news was about the upcoming election within his party.
“Minister Sakurada, who is aiming for the party leadership election next year, is considering a merger with the Mifune faction, the second-largest faction in the party…”
“Huh? Mifune faction?”
I’m not into politics, but the name “Mifune” got my attention. Then the TV showed Minister Sakurada and Congressman Mifune coming out of a restaurant. It was the same guy who had come to the classroom.
“That old man, he’s…”
I said without thinking.
“Oh? You know him?”
“Well, yeah. He’s the politician who came to class the other day.”
“Oh… so Mifune-san came.”
Weird… Why would she call a politician she’s only seen on TV with the “-san” greeting?
“Do you know him?”
“No, we’re not that close. I’ve only greeted him a few times at some parties when I was a kid.”
She said it like it was nothing, but to me, those parties sound like a big deal.
But more than that, I was more concerned about the frown on her face.
“Do you know something about Congressman Mifune?”
“I don’t know the details, but there’s a rumor.”
“A rumor?”
“It’s not a pleasant story, and I don’t think Ryuuki-kun would want to know…”
I know she’s trying to be considerate, but hearing that just makes me even more curious.
“Please tell me.”
“I don’t mind. If you’re sure you won’t regret hearing it.”
“Please.”
Miyama-sensei stared at me for a while as I waited for her answer. Then, she suddenly softened her expression.
“It’s just a rumor, okay…” she said, before continuing.
“Sakurada-san is probably going to be a maid at Congressman Mifune’s second home.”
“A maid? What’s that supposed to mean?”
“Mifune-san has a big second home in Karuizawa. Do you know Yamano Resort? It’s right near there.”
“I have no idea. Just keep going.”
I’m a commoner, so I have no business in Karuizawa. I’ve never been there.
“She’ll probably be working as a maid there.”
“Oh, really?”
I still don’t get it.
Why would Sakurada, the daughter of a politician, need to work as a maid at another politician’s second home?
“You still don’t get it?”
Miyama-sensei asked.
“I’m sorry…”
I admitted honestly.
She then pulled me into her embrace and stroked my head.
“You’re so innocent, Ryuuki-kun…”
“H-hey, don’t tease me.”
“……”
She held me tight and looked into my eyes.
“To put it simply, Sakurada-san is going to be his mistress. I’ve heard that there are several young girls like her working as maids at his second home.”
Miyama-sensei’s face was terrifyingly cold as she said this.
