The School’s Number One Beauty Is Teaming Up With The Class Rep To Execute A Plan.
Friday, the following week.
The final exams that started on Monday were now on their last day.
I was sitting at my desk in Class 2-3, taking the last subject of the test.
After finishing all the questions, I was reviewing my answers one last time.
Soon enough, the chime signaling the end of the exam echoed through the room.
“Alright, time’s up. Collect the answer sheets.”
The male teacher, who was overseeing the exam, announced from the front of the classroom.
(It went pretty well…)
As I handed my answer sheet, face down, to the class rep sitting in front of me, I reflected on my performance.
Once all the answer sheets were collected, the teacher left the room.
Immediately, the classroom became lively.
Classmates started chatting with nearby friends about the exam results and plans for later.
“Yakumo-kun, how did this test go for you?”
Hatsune-san, who sat beside me, quickly started a conversation.
“I’m confident it was my best one yet.”
Of course, I used my perfect memory skill, but that wasn’t the only reason.
Studying with Hatsune-san helped me stay more motivated than usual.
“Oh? You were that eager to know more about me?”
Hatsune-san seemed to interpret my words differently.
“Well, I guess that’s part of it.”
The truth is, my goal had shifted from just avoiding failure to getting into the top 50, and I worked extra hard before the exams.
“Hehhhh~, so you worked hard for me, Yakumo-kun?”
“That’s a bit of a strange way to put it, but yeah. Originally, I studied to avoid remedial classes so I could spend a fun summer vacation with you, Hatsune-san.”
I shared the reason I had initially decided to work hard for the tests.
Hatsune-san’s eyes widened for a moment.
“I see… hehe.”
Her cheeks flushed lightly as she smiled shyly.
Hatsune-san was usually bold and forward, but seeing her act this shy was adorable.
As I was thinking that while looking at her, the class rep suddenly turned around.
“Ichigaya-san, sorry to interrupt your little moment, but could you tell Ueno-kun about that thing?”
The class rep said something rather suggestive to Hatsune-san.
“Oh, right!”
“That thing?” I asked, curious about what they were talking about.
“Yakumo-kun, do you have any plans later today?”
“Of course not.”
“Then, how about we celebrate finishing the exams? We could all grab something to eat or hang out.”
Hatsune-san made this suggestion.
The same Hatsune-san who used to be a socially awkward loner.
Now she was inviting people to hang out in a group… I couldn’t help but feel a bit moved by her growth.
“Got it, I’ll join. By the way, who’s ‘everyone’?”
“The class rep and Shiina-kun.”
They’re two of the classmates I talk to the most.
“That’s great. Honestly, it would’ve been tough to invite that guy if there weren’t any other guys coming.”
Hearing my response, the class rep looked relieved.
By that guy, she was probably referring to Shiina.
The class rep and Shiina have been childhood friends, so she’s comfortable referring to him that way.
“R-right, I’ll go and get Shiina-kun then…!”
The class rep’s voice was unusually shaky as she stood up to leave.

The four of us headed to a family restaurant in the shopping mall near the station.
It was the same place we had been to before with this group.
After finishing our reasonably priced lunches, which were perfect for high schoolers’ budgets, we were having a lively conversation.
Though, to be honest, most of the conversation revolved around Hatsune-san and the class rep.
“Ah, Shiina-kun. My drink’s empty, could you get me a refill from the drink bar?”
In the middle of the conversation, the class rep asked Shiina for a favor.
“Sure. Mine’s almost empty too.”
Shiina didn’t even flinch at the request, which was typical of him—always the cool guy.
“Thank you.”
The class rep thanked him while exchanging a glance with Hatsune-san.
What’s going on here…? I wondered.
“Oh, can you grab one for me as well? And Yakumo-kun’s too?” Hatsune-san chimed in, also asking Shiina to bring drinks.
“Got it. Since I’m going anyway, I’ll grab drinks for everyone.”
Shiina nodded and stood up.
As soon as he left, the atmosphere between the class rep and Hatsune-san shifted.
“Alright, now that we’ve cleared the room, Ueno-kun, there’s a plan we’d like your help with.”
The class rep opened the conversation, while Hatsune-san, sitting beside me, was looking at me with an unusually excited expression.
It seemed like they wanted to discuss something they couldn’t let Shiina overhear.
