ーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーー
“Hey, Ryouya-kun. Why did you go to sleep first?”
“B-Because I was tired…”
“So you just left me and Onee-chan behind?”
“…Well, yeah, I guess that’s what happened.”
That morning, I was in the middle of being interrogated by Reona and Riona. The first thing I saw after waking up was the two of them standing in front of me, staring down with intense gazes. They were practically radiating a dangerous aura, and needless to say, my drowsy mind snapped awake in an instant.
“Ahhh… I was really looking forward to sleeping together. I never thought Ryouya-kun would betray us like that.”
“Both of us were so shocked. We couldn’t even sleep properly.”
“That’s a bit of an exaggeration, don’t you think?”
“We stayed at a love hotel and nothing happened… That’s so depressing, we can’t even tell anyone about this.”
“No, no, even if something had happened, telling someone would still be a problem.”
Reona and Riona looked frustrated and kept blaming me, but I had no idea what exactly I’d done wrong.
Wait… Could it be… They mean that kind of thing?
That thought flashed through my mind for a second, but there was no way girls like Reona and Riona—who shone so brightly—would see someone like me, a complete nobody, as a romantic interest. This attention they were giving me had to be temporary. Once the “Ryouya Yagami Boom” ended for them, they’d move on like nothing ever happened.
And I was sure they’d forget all about me, as if I’d never existed in the first place. That was what I told myself—but for some reason, I couldn’t shake the feeling that I was making a massive mistake.
“Ryouya-kun, you’ve been zoning out for a while now. Are you even listening to us?”
“…Ah, sorry.”
“Since Ryouya wasn’t listening properly, we’re going to have to punish you.”
“This time, we’re going to be extra strict with you.”
Well, it was my fault for getting lost in my own head. But now that I’d made them mad, I had no idea what kind of absurd thing they’d make me do next. Honestly, I was really scared for my life.
Once they decided I needed to be punished and seemed to calm down a little, we finally moved on to breakfast. I picked up the phone by the bed and called the front desk to order food, and after a while, the food was brought to our room.
“Oh, so they deliver it through a little window?”
“Looks like it’s to avoid having the customer face the staff directly. It’s probably for people who want to keep things discreet.”
Since this wasn’t a regular hotel, I figured that kind of attention to small details made sense. I didn’t think I’d ever have a reason to come to a love hotel again, but still, this experience was still kind of educational. Afterwards, we took our time with breakfast and packed our things. We then paid the fee for the hotel at the automated checkout machine near the entrance and stepped outside.
“The weather’s really nice.”
“Yeah, with this kind of sunshine, it really puts you in a good mood. What should we do today?”
“Since we’re in Kisarazu, I want to do some sightseeing.”
“…Hey, I hate to ruin the fun, but can we please get out of here first?”
The three-of-us-together combo at the love hotel entrance was attracting way too much attention. People passing by were openly staring, and I was getting death stares from other guys like there was no tomorrow.
“Aww… But this spot has shade. I want to chat here a bit longer.”
“I’m telling you, the way people are looking at us is seriously bad.”
“Onee-chan and I aren’t bothered by it though.”
“Well, I’m very bothered by it..”
“If you let it get to you, you’re the one losing. In fact, I think we should show off even more.”
Yeah. Saying anything more to Reona and Riona would just be a waste of time. I had no choice but to endure this public execution-like experience until they were satisfied. In the end, they kept chatting for nearly twenty minutes, and my life points didn’t just hit zero—they went deep into the negatives.
Finally released from that hell, I was relieved… But of course, during our Kisarazu sightseeing, they dragged me around without mercy. By the time we got home in the evening, my legs were so sore I could barely stand.

Chapter 49: Then, I Want a Daughter
ーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーー
The nearly four-week-long summer vacation had less than a week left, and its end was quickly approaching. Next year, I would be a third-year student, so I definitely wouldn’t be able to spend my time playing around like I did this year.
I wonder if I can become a college student for real…
While thinking about that, I wandered alone through a shopping mall. Of course, there was a proper reason why I was unusually acting on my own. The truth was, tomorrow—August 21st—was Reona and Riona’s birthday.
To secretly buy presents for the two of them and give them tomorrow, I had lied and told them I had promised to visit my relatives. That way, I could be alone today. Since I’d be in trouble if that lie got exposed, I made the extra effort to go to a shopping mall far enough away that they were unlikely to come.
“Ugh… I’m really stuck on what to get…”
Since I was a loner and had no friends, I had never given a present to anyone other than my little sister Mio. So I had no clue what kind of present would be the right choice. I had gotten some advice from Mio beforehand, just in case, but since I had to make the final decision myself, it was proving difficult to settle on anything.
“…Guess I’ll take a little break.”
I’d been searching for about two hours since morning, and my brain was starting to overheat, so I wanted to rest. I headed to the food court, put in my earbuds, and started grinding a dungeon in a mobile game while listening to music. To roll the swimsuit gacha, I needed to farm the gems from dungeon clears, so I had to keep grinding non-stop. I was focused on the game for a while when someone suddenly tapped my shoulder from behind.
I looked up—and there stood Reona and Riona, both wearing dark smiles on their faces.
Wait, what!? Why are they here? Unless they’ve been stalking me, there’s no way this kind of coincidence could’ve happened!
“Oh? If it isn’t Ryouya-kun, who was supposed to be at his relatives’ house! I wonder what he’s doing here?”
“I-I was planning to go this afternoon…”
“Yesterday you said you were going in the morning.”
“My plans suddenly changed, that’s all…”
“Really? I’m finding it hard to believe you, Ryouya-kun.”
I tried to cover it up, stammering through my excuses, but their suspicious looks only deepened.
“If Ryouya-kun tells us the truth right now, we might forgive you.”
“But if you keep lying, we’ll give you the harshest punishment yet.”
“…Sorry. I lied about today’s plans.”
I figured there was no benefit in hiding anything further, so I decided to come clean. Upon hearing that, the two of them sat down in the seats across from me.
Ah. Yeah. The interrogation is definitely about to begin.
“Well then, Ryouya-kun. Why don’t you slowly explain to us why you lied?”
“False reporting will not be tolerated.”
“…Look, tomorrow is your birthday, Reona, Riona. So I was planning to buy you surprise presents. I mean, it’s not a surprise anymore now that I’ve told you, but…”
“Ohh, so that’s what it was.”
“In that case, you’re forgiven this time. You’re off the hook.”
Hearing my explanation, their moods improved instantly. I was relieved to be forgiven, at least for now.
“So, Ryouya-kun, what kind of present were you planning to get us?”
“Well, I was really struggling to decide, so I haven’t actually picked anything yet…”
“Yeah, it’s definitely hard to choose a present.”
“By the way, is there anything you two want? Within what I can afford, of course.”
Since the whole “surprise” angle had already been ruined, I figured I might as well ask directly. If I gave them something they actually wanted, there was no way I could go wrong.
“Then, I want a daughter.”
“If Onee-chan says that, I want a son.”
“Whoa, whoa?? How am I even supposed to prepare something like that!?”
Their requests were so far out of left field that I couldn’t help but raise my voice. Being told they wanted kids as birthday presents was way too unexpected. They weren’t seriously asking me to go kidnap someone or something… Right?
“Well, that was a joke, of course.”
“It’s still too soon for that kind of joke.”
“Well, Reona and Riona can have their pick of partners, so I’m sure they’ll each have at least one or two kids in the future.”
“Yeah, I’m looking forward to that.”
“I bet our kids would be adorable.”
It was true—if they passed on their genes, then no matter who the other parent was, the kids would no doubt be beautiful. I had no idea who they’d marry in the future, but whoever it was, I was definitely jealous of them.

The MC is so… useless and underwhelming.
I’m this 🤏 close to dropping this novel.
Maybe I’m being unfair, but I’m really hoping it gets better somehow.
