Chapter 75 The Hero Ask
After Sakya finished explaining, Wiel nodded attentively. Once she had listened to everything, she replied with an understanding “I see.”
“So, you mean that even when trying to control the Hero’s power, it ends up going out of control, correct?”
“Yes, that’s right. And we heard that this person named Remi has experience using special powers.”
“Indeed, Remi does use abilities that are different from magic. It might be a good idea to seek her advice.”
Hearing this, Alka’s eyes widened slightly. It was unexpected; he hadn’t thought he would get permission so easily. He had assumed Wiel would say something like “figure it out on your own,” so this was a bit of a surprise.
“I guess you heard this from Garnos… but did you really get the full story about Remi?”
“Huh?”
At Wiel’s words, Sakya and Alka turned towards Garnos, who remained silent, maintaining his cheerful smile.
“Judging by that reaction, it seems you didn’t hear everything.”
“Hahaha. If I told these young ones everything, there would be no adventure left for them, would there?”
“…Haha, that’s true. However, I’m sorry to say, I don’t know where Remi is right now. She’s constantly moving around all over the place.”
Wiel looked troubled. It was unexpected to hear that there was something Wiel didn’t know. Considering that, searching for Remi in this vast world seemed almost impossible—especially when the person in question was always on the move.
While they were pondering what to do next, Neptune, clearly wanting to be included in the conversation, kept glancing over at Wiel.
“It’s been nearly twenty years since we parted ways, and I can’t reach her through magic either.”
“…(glance, glance)”
“Besides, she’s not the type to do something as skillful as keeping in touch.”
“…(glance, glance)”
“So, if you want her advice, you’ll have to find her yourselves—”
“Waaah! D-don’t ignore meee!”
Unable to hold back any longer, Neptune burst into tears. Wiel seemed to enjoy this just a bit, which made Sakya feel a bit uneasy. Meanwhile, Alka and Garnos, more familiar with Wiel’s behavior, watched without much concern.
“Alright, alright. So, what’s going on?”
“Indeed! If you need it, I shall find Remi’s whereabouts for you!”
“…Can you really do that?”
“I see that look of doubt. Hmph! As long as it’s near a body of water, I can detect the presence of any living creature anywhere in the world. Impressive, isn’t it?”
Neptune puffed out her chest with pride. If what she said was true, it was certainly impressive.
“Hmm… In that case, could you please do it? Alka doesn’t exactly have the time to go searching for Remi.”
“Very well! For the sake of Croix’s son, I’ll do it as much as you need!”
Neptune’s eyes gleamed with determination. It seemed she was now using her detection ability. However, if she could only detect those near water, the range would be quite limited. She would only be able to sense Remi if she were near the sea, a river, a pond, or a lake. Finding her would be difficult unless she happened to be near a body of water at this very moment…
“Oh, I’ve found her.”
“Eh, where is she?”
Apparently, Remi had been found. It seemed she was near water after all.
“Yes. She’s headed your way.”
“…What?”
BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!!!
Suddenly, a deafening roar and a shockwave surged, striking the three of them forcefully.
“W-What the heck!?”
“Alka, prepare for battle!”
Following Sakya’s lead, Alka quickly got ready for combat. However, Garnos remained motionless, smiling calmly. After a short wait, the dust began to settle, revealing a lone woman standing before them.
Her presence was overwhelming, as if just being near her could crush them under pressure. Her glowing eyes glared sharply at Alka and the others. This aura… it felt familiar.
It was the same as her father Croix’s. However, unlike Croix, who managed to keep his aura restrained, this woman’s was raw, as if declaring she would destroy anything she touched.
There was no doubt—it was Remy. No introductions were needed.
Remi furrowed her brow and tilted her head inquisitively.
“Huh? What the…? I thought I sensed brother Croix’s presence, but… maybe I was mistaken.”
“‘Brother’…? Does that mean you’re my dad’s sister…?”
“No, I’m not his sister… Wait, what? Your dad?”
Remi’s eyes turned toward Alka. The intensity of her gaze alone made it feel like he was facing down a dragon.
“Are you… the kid of Big Bro and Master?”
“Uh…?”
“That’s right,” answered Wiel from the still-active communication spell.
“Oh, Master!”
“Remi, it’s been a while.”
“Yeah! Long time no see, Master!”
The oppressive aura from before vanished in an instant, replaced with the excited look of a loyal pet reuniting with its owner. It was like she was a completely different person.
“Master, Master! I heard you and the others were traveling around the world, so I’ve been looking for you! Where are you now?”
“Is that so? We’re currently in the underwater kingdom of Dipsea. Feel free to come.”
“Seriously?! I’ll be there right away!”
Remi immediately summoned a magic circle beneath her feet. It was for teleportation magic—a highly advanced spell that even Sakya hadn’t fully mastered yet. It seemed she really was Wiel’s disciple. But if things continued like this, Remi would disappear.
Panicking, Alka shouted at Remi.
“Wait! Remi, I have something to ask you! You can use powers other than magic, right?! Can you teach me how to control them?!”
“Willpower!!!”
With a flash, she was gone.
And with that, she left behind an utterly useless piece of advice.
“This can’t be happening.”
“Alka, I genuinely sympathize with you.”
“Haha, that’s so typical of Remi.”
Watching the scene unfold from the communication spell, Alka let out a deep, exasperated sigh.
