Chapter 74 The Hero Sits Properly
◆ Alka, Sakya, Garnos ◆
“Sit in seiza position, Alka-sama.”
“Yes, ma’am.”
How many times had Alka sat in seiza now? He was already accustomed to sitting on the rocky ground. As he sat with his legs folded neatly in front of Sakya, who stood there with her arms crossed and an annoyed expression, she let out a deep sigh.
Meanwhile, Garnos watched them with a cheerful smile.
“I’ve told you over and over again, haven’t I? Over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over again. No matter how unpredictable the power of the hero might be, if you don’t control it, it causes trouble for everyone around you.”
“Yes, ma’am.”
“Then, what is the meaning of this disaster?”
Sakya glanced around the area. The ground was torn up, rocks shattered, and the place had been transformed into a wasteland.
Of course, they had made sure there were no villages or towns nearby, and that they were in a secluded area where no one would come near.
Even so, the extent of the destruction was enough to make Sakya sigh deeply.
“I’ve only read about the power of a hero in books, so I can’t give you much advice… But at this rate, Alka-sama, you won’t be able to use your power in any populated areas.”
“I understand, but… something just feels off. The more I try to control it, the more the power seems to rebel against me.”
But Alka wasn’t joking around.
He was genuinely trying to face his power as a hero and was attempting to restrain it properly.
And yet, the more he tried to suppress it, the more it seemed to rebel, going out of control.
Perhaps it was because he had neglected to control it for so long, but the intensity of its rampages felt strangely out of place.
Sakya placed a hand on her cheek and tilted her head thoughtfully.
“Hmm… I know a bit about controlling magic, but… Garnos, do you have any insight?”
“I’m afraid not. I lack any special powers myself, so I’m not well-versed in controlling such things.”
“I figured as much…”
Garnos’s strength was well-known. Even his father, Nax, couldn’t defeat him.
However, that strength was purely physical combat ability. Garnos had never been seen using magic.
If even someone like herself, who could use magic, didn’t understand much about it, it made sense that Garnos wouldn’t know either.
At that moment, Garnos spoke up, saying, “Come to think of it…”
“There was one person. Someone who used a power that wasn’t magic. You’ve met them before, Sakya.”
“Huh, have I?”
She had a pretty good memory, but she couldn’t recall meeting anyone like that.
Maybe it was a customer from the brothel? Even if it was, she wouldn’t have had the opportunity to see any special abilities from a customer.
So, who could it be?
“Well, it’s understandable. You were still a young child back then. It was someone who traveled with Lord Nax.”
“With my father?”
Long ago, Croix and Wiel had traveled the world together.
During that time, they met Nax, Garnos, and Sakya.
And, it seemed that Croix had an apprentice back then. If she remembered correctly, her name was…
““‘Remi’? … Oh.””
Sakya and Garnos spoke at the same time. It seemed Sakya remembered as well.
“Exactly. She might know how to control unusual powers.”
“Where is she now?”
“Hmm, I’m not sure… but perhaps Lady Wiel would know?”
“True… let’s ask her.”
Sakya extended her palm, and a magic circle appeared, forming a translucent sphere.
After waiting a few moments, Wiel’s figure appeared on the other side.
“Ah, Sakya! It’s been a while. I see Alka and Garnos are with you too?”
“It’s been a while, Lady Wiel. Yes, they are both here.”
As the sphere showed their images, Garnos smiled and gave a nod, while Alka rubbed his cheek in embarrassment.
“Ah, both of you seem to be doing well. So, what brings you here—”
“Hmm? Oh! A High Elf! I’ve lived a long life, but this is the first time I’ve seen a real one!”
Suddenly, Wiel was pushed aside, and a gigantic face filled the screen. The face belonged to an unfamiliar woman, but she was incredibly beautiful. Even Sakya was stunned by her appearance.
“Hey, Neptune-sama. We’re in the middle of an important discussion, so please don’t interrupt.”
“But I want to talk too!”
“No, you can’t.”
“You’re stingy.”
On the other side of the screen, Wiel and Neptune were playfully bickering. However, the three of them were more shocked by the mention of Neptune’s name.
“Ne-Neptune…?! Do you mean the legendary sea god, Neptune?”
“No way, the real one? But there’s no way my mom would lie…”
“My goodness, this is quite a surprise.”
Momentarily forgetting their original purpose, the three leaned closer to get a better look at Neptune. Feeling pleased, Neptune puffed out her chest with pride.
“Indeed, it is I!”
“Yes, yes. I’ll praise you plenty later, so please step aside for now.”
“Mmph!”
Wiel pushed Neptune’s face aside. Normally, this would be considered an act of great disrespect, but Wiel seemed to be an exception.
“Now then, what was it you wanted to discuss?”
“Ah, right. So, actually—”
