Chapter 76 The First Apprentice Gets Involve in a Troublesome Situation
◆The Undersea Kingdom of Dipsea◆
“Master!”
“Remi, welcome.”
Remi, who had just teleported in, approached Wiel like a loyal puppy. Her platinum blonde hair, styled in a single ponytail, swayed energetically, reflecting her excitement.
Wiel couldn’t help but smile at the familiar reaction.
“Remi. It’s been a while.”
“Hm? Oh, Nep. Still as big as ever, I see.”
“You’ve still got that big attitude too.”
“And my chest is pretty big too, right?”
Remi puffed out her chest with pride. While Wiel was quite impressive, Remi wasn’t falling behind; she was pretty big as well. Remi then looked around, scanning her surroundings.
“Huh? Where’s brother?”
“If you’re referring to Croix, he’s over there, training.”
“Training?”
Looking in the direction indicated, Remi saw Mion and Dona desperately fleeing from two Croix. Croix was expressionless but seemed to be enjoying himself.
“Are those two his current disciples?”
“Yes. Mion is a girl from the Rabbit People tribe, and Dona is a boy from the Fish People tribe.”
“So, that makes them my younger sister and brother disciples. I guess I’m getting older too.”
Despite her reflective mood, Remi looked young enough to be in her twenties. There was no doubt that her real age and her appearance did not align.
Remi smiled as she watched the two fleeing.
“Enhancing physical strength, huh? I did that too. Brings back memories.”
“How long did you do it for?”
“For three days and nights. I was running away from three Aniki. Ah, that was the last time I ever felt death so vividly, both before and after.”
“I see. So you’ve spent the last several years in relative comfort.”
“No, no, I’ve worked hard too… huh?”
It was Croix. There was one here, and two over there.
The third Croix.
“It’s been a while, Remi.”
“Ah, haha… Long time no see, Aniki.”
She could tell from the subtle difference in presence.
The two over there were substantial copies. The one here was the real deal.
Croix sat on the ground and patted the space next to him.
Remi, slightly nervous, sat quietly beside him.
Both faced the same direction and sat silently.
Then Croix gently spoke.
“Feel free to relax.”
“Yes.”
Even as she responded, Remi did not relax her posture.
From the atmosphere, a sense of tension was palpable. It seemed she was a bit on edge in front of her long-absent master, Croix.
Though she looked brash, she clearly held a deep respect for her master.
“You seem quite free, so what have you been doing these past several years?”
“I-I’m not free! I’ve been training diligently and fighting against the Demon King’s army. The eastern region is mostly sorted out, so I heard Aniki and the others were traveling, so I came to follow them.”
“You came to follow me? Why?”
“Well, I was bored… Ah, just kidding, that was a slip of the tongue.”
“A slip of the tongue means it’s the truth.”
“Oops.”
Remi looked away awkwardly while Croix gave her a pointed stare.
Seeing the nostalgic scene, Wiel couldn’t help but smile warmly.
“Well, let’s set that joke aside. Aniki and Master, you’ve been living in peace for a long time. That’s why I hesitated to come visit.”
“I see. So you came to visit because we left the village for the first time in a while.”
“And, well, I was hoping for a little help.”
“…Help?”
Croix furrowed his brows at those words. When Remi asked for help, it usually involved fighting. But that was during their training days. Croix knew well enough about Remi’s abilities and didn’t think she needed assistance.
Remi, with a serious expression, looked up at Croix and whispered.
“There’s a rumor that the Eye Emperor Balba and the Tentacle King Gordon have teamed up to crush the hero.”
“…What?”
The Eye Emperor Balba and the Tentacle King Gordon were two of the Four Heavenly Kings of the Demon King’s army. Moreover, one of them, the Eye Emperor Balba, had kidnapped Mion. They had some connection to Croix and his group.
“I see. It’s definitely more effective to tackle them with more than one person rather than dealing with each of them individually… Is that what you’re saying?”
“Probably. I only heard a bit of it from the demons talking.”
Maybe. Probably. It was not zero possibility. The Demon King feared the hero’s power. So, they had to take action.
“Remi, go with Alka. That’s a direct order from your master.”
“Isn’t that an abuse of power? …By the way, who is Alka?”
“He’s my kid and the hero.”
“…Seriously? That little shrimp from earlier?”
“That little shrimp, yes. And you’ll be Alka’s mentor. You’re the most knowledgeable about unique abilities, right?”
“That’s true, but…”
Given Remi’s personality, teaching someone was not her strong suit. To put it plainly, she was bad at it. Croix was well aware of this, but the situation couldn’t be ignored.
“You’re old enough now. It’s better to have one or two disciples. You can use magic, so teach the high elf girl, Sakya, a few things too.”
(This is such a hassle…)
“Did you say something?”
“N-No, nothing at all…!”
Even Remi, known for her boldness, couldn’t argue with Croix. Her responses were limited to either “yes” or “understood.”
“Alka is on a journey to defeat the Demon King as the hero. It’s certain he’ll face the Four Heavenly Kings. If I solve everything, it won’t benefit him, will it?”
“Sigh… Alright, I get it.”
Remi had hoped Croix would handle the Four Heavenly Kings, but now it seemed like she had a troublesome task ahead.
“Then go. I don’t think he’s moved from the spot he was earlier.”
“Got it. Well then, Aniki, Master, I’ll be taking my leave.”
Remi cast the magic circle again and disappeared, blending into the air.
