Chapter 12: The Hero of [Resurrection] Brings the Isekai Girl into the Abyss
After hearing Shizukuishi’s story, I fell silent.
Sure, the princess aiming for world domination with weapons built from isekai knowledge was shocking—but what really stunned me was Nia.
The fact that the woman who betrayed me had actually helped Shizukuishi escape? I could hardly believe it.
What was her goal?
Could it really be atonement for betraying me? If that were the case, then she never should’ve betrayed me in the first place.
Or… was there some unavoidable reason she had no choice?
“Mister? You okay?”
“Eh? Ah, y-yeah. I’m fine.”
No—don’t waver.
Even if there was some reason, she was still my enemy.
She betrayed me, and that won’t change.
My decision to destroy the Ixion Kingdom remains firm.
…Though, before that, maybe I should at least hear her side of the story.
“Miss Shizukuishi, if you don’t mind… would you come with us?”
“Eh?”
“For certain reasons, I despise the Kingdom. I will definitely bring it down. And when I do… I might even be able to save your friends.”
“P-Please!! Yukino and Akane—and even Yamada-kun—they’re not bad people!! They’re just caught up in the flattery and acting cocky. They don’t realize what the Kingdom is planning…”
Clearly, Shizukuishi still deeply cared about the three who came from her world.
And I couldn’t trample on that feeling.
“Ah, come to think of it, we haven’t introduced ourselves yet. I’m Elott, the Hero of [Resurrection]. And this is—”
“I’m Silesta, the Hero of [Blade].”
“I’m Meimei, the Hero of [Cat].”
“I’m Raishis, the Hero of [Analysis]. Hey, isekai girl, let me check your body for a bit. I want to see how humans from another world differ from the people here.”
“I am Zona, servant of the great King Elott. Pleased to meet you, Lusty Isekai Ponytail.”
“Elott-san, Silesta-san, Meimei-san, Raishis-san, and Zona-san… I got it!!”
Shizukuishi repeated our names a few times, smiling brightly as she did.
“Anyway, now that you’ve got our names down, I’d like to take you to our base—or hideout, or whatever you want to call it—and introduce you to the rest of our companions. Will you come with us?”
“Ah, yes!! I may not look it, but I’m good with names—I could remember an entire class roster in a single day!!”
“…There are about a hundred of us.”
“Eh?”
After giving a quick word to the village chief, we took Shizukuishi down into the abyss.
Normally, the teleportation circle leading there was protected by the goddess’s magic, making it impossible for outsiders to approach. But with us, it wasn’t a problem.
The heroes welcomed Shizukuishi with open arms.
“I am Dran!! The Hero of [Dragon]!! Nice to meet you, it is!!”
“I am the Hero of [Shadow]… Shadow. Fuhihihi—ah, s-sorry. My laugh is creepy, I know, sorry.”
“Hey, hey! Must’ve been rough coming all the way from another world!! I’m the Hero of [Sun], San!! No need for honorifics—just call me San!!”
“Oh my, what a cute girl!! Believe it or not, I’m the Hero of [Maiden(Man)]!! My name’s Elizabeth!!”
“I am Wyn, the Hero of [Wings]. My hobby is flying. My favorite thing is dropping rocks on enemies from the sky.”
“And I am—”
With heroes introducing themselves one after another, Shizukuishi’s eyes spun in confusion.
“S-So many… Aren’t heroes usually just one person!?”
“I resurrect one hero a day. So yeah… the number’s only going to keep climbing.”
“I-I’ll never remember them all!!”
Shizukuishi wailed in despair.
But with the enemy already wielding guns, and possibly even planning weapons like fighter planes and tanks, replenishing our forces was essential.
And since not every resurrected hero could be counted on to cooperate, the only answer was to keep reviving more and more of them.
…Yeah, maybe our strategy was a little too “muscle-brained.”
“By the way, Elott-san, what’s that?”
“Hmm?”
Shizukuishi pointed toward Tiara and a few other heroes, who seemed to be busy with some kind of project.
“…What exactly are they doing?”
“Wait—why don’t you know, Elott-san!?”
“H-Hey, it’s not like I can keep track of everything!! Heroes tend to dive headfirst into their own hobbies—half of them are always doing the most random crap!!”
I hate to say it, but honestly, there are times I feel like some of them deserved being tossed into the abyss.
Not that any of them are bad people.
It’s just… their hobbies are so inconvenient for everyone else—or they’re just plain weird.
Anyway, to figure out what was going on, I approached Tiara, who was busy hauling a massive boulder.
“Tiara, what are you working on here?”
“Ah, Elott!! Well, actually, I don’t really know myself… I was just counting rocks since I had nothing to do, and then Laverne told me, ‘If you’re free, help out.’”
“…Laverne?”
Laverne was the Hero of [Labyrinth].
Much like the Hero of [Castle], who created our fortress, she also had the power to conjure matter from nothing. A ridiculously strong ability.
We had only just revived her right before fighting the Wicked Dragon, so she hadn’t been much use in battle…
And right then—
A hand clapped down on my waist, and a voice loud enough to rupture eardrums blasted out.
“Yaaaay, Elott!! Did you call for meeeee!!”
“Gh—ah, Laverne.”
When I turned around, there stood a sparkling-eyed little girl.
She was even smaller than Meimei—looked barely ten years old.
“The truth is, I’ve been cooking up a plan!!”
“A plan?”
“Yes!! A plan to turn this abyss into a labyrinth—in other words, a dungeon!!”
“…Why though?”
“If we’re going to war with the Ixion Kingdom, we must also build a proper nation of our own!! And to do that, we shall remake this ‘Great Pit’ into a colossal dungeon!! This will be our capital, the heart of a mighty nation!! Ah, but fear not! I only want to make the dungeon. The king is you!!”
S-She totally let her true feelings slip at the end!!
But before I could even get a word in, someone else jumped on board with her insane idea.
Zona.
“A splendid vision. To crush those rebels who dare crown themselves without the goddess’s blessing, and to enthrone King Elott as the true ruler… Yes, making this land our capital is a fine idea.”
“Oh-ho!! At last, someone who understands!! Now then, I want ideas to help me design this dungeon capital—a true labyrinthine city!! Please, share your wisdom!!”
And just like that, Laverne and Zona hit it off, walking side by side as they launched into excited chatter about transforming the abyss into a dungeon.
The real problem came the very next day.
In just a single day, Laverne had apparently finished the dungeon.
Where the “Great Pit” had been just yesterday, a massive tower now rose skyward—so tall it seemed to pierce the heavens, radiating an overwhelming presence.
“What the hell is this!?”
“Hahaha! With the help of the Hero of [Castle], we managed to finish it overnight!! All that hard work paid off!!”
Laverne beamed with pride.
Hero powers really were ridiculous—but still, there had to be limits, didn’t there?
…Not that I wasn’t grateful.
The Ixion Kingdom ruled nearly half the continent.
If we were going to take them on, we needed serious preparations.
The tower itself was crammed with lethal traps designed to shred intruders. And yet, if someone actually made it all the way to the top, they’d find nothing but a decoy.
To reach our true base in the lowest layer, the enemy would have to bleed for it.
“…Well, at least this means we’re prepared for war with the Ixion Kingdom…”
“With a tower this flashy, there’s no doubt the Ixion Kingdom will make the first move!! Elott, good luck!!”
“When that happens, I’ll be the one to strike them down. Don’t worry, mister.”
And sure enough, our predictions hit the mark.
Three months after the tower was built, the Ixion Kingdom’s army came marching in.

[Afterword]
Quick Mob Hero Spotlight
Laverne, the Hero of [Labyrinth]
A hero who once went around creating dungeons all over the world. With her carefree, hedonistic personality, she ended up hitting it off with the Demon Lord of that era over dungeon talk—and straight-up betrayed humanity.
In her own words: “Why fight for a bunch of nobodies when I can have fun building dungeons with my friend?”
For the record, she doesn’t even think of it as betrayal.
She looks like a ten-year-old kid, but her actual age is somewhere in the thirties.
Meimei sees her as a fellow poor comrade (this part’s important).
If you think, “A ten-year-old body with a thirty-year-old mind is fetish level max,” toss those ★s my way!
And if you thought, “Shizukuishi’s a good girl,” “I’m curious about the Hero of [Man],” or “The afterword cracked me up,” —then don’t forget to leave a comment, bookmark, ★rating, or review!
