Come to think of it…I’ve been getting chocolates from Hina ever since grade school.

In middle school, Hina even gave me handmade chocolates. Looking back, it feels like I’ve always received all sorts of things from her. I told her not to worry about it, but she said she wanted to do it, so I can never refuse.

It indeed makes me really happy, but I’m not good at that sort of thing…

“By the way, what are you going to do, Kanata-senpai? Fufu.”

Kikuchi walks into the kitchen with a grin on her face.

Then, she stares straight at me.

“Why are you looking at me like that…Kikuchi.”

“Kanata-senpai, why don’t you try making chocolates too? I’m sure Hina-senpai will absolutely be thrilled.”

“Me…making chocolate? Hmm…that’s not a bad idea. I’ve never made it before, so I don’t know if I can do it well though.”

“Making chocolate isn’t that hard. I’ll lend you a book.”

“Really?”

“Yes!”

Saying so, Kikuchi hands me a book about making chocolates.

“Hey, can I ask you something? Why are you doing all this for me?”

“Hmm?”

“Like covering my shifts, giving me that chocolate book…I just feel like you’re being really considerate.”

“I…just want Hina-senpai to be happy more than anyone else.”

“You just want Hina to be happy…”

“Senpai! Are you done with the dishes?”

“Yeah, I’m done.”

“We still have some time left, so why don’t we talk for a bit? Want some ice cream?”

“Thanks.”

About 20 minutes before the end of my shift, since I have nothing left to do, I sit down with Kikuchi who brought over some ice cream.

Then, I got a message from Hina.

‘Kanata, are you working right now?’

‘Yeah. What’s the matter, Hina?’

‘Are you coming over to my place today?’

‘No…did you forget what happened the other day!? In front of Miki-san, I…with you…’

Kikuchi notices that I’m messaging someone.

“Hina-senpai?”

I continue to message Hina.

‘Anyway, I can’t come over to your house today. Besides, exams are coming up soon, so study!’

‘I’ll come over to your house again, so just hold on for today.’

As always, Hina keeps inviting me over to her house.

I had kept my distance from Hina since we were in the second year of middle school. I had no idea what she was doing. Maybe she spent most of her time with Kikuchi.

Even though it’s Kikuchi, even though she knows a bit about our relationship, that’s just something I just can’t say…
