- Chapter 45 - Valentine (2)
Valentine (2)
Kikuchi said making chocolate isn’t that hard, but…
Looking at the mess in my kitchen, all I can do is sigh.
Wondering why things aren’t going well, I sigh again as I look at the book Kikuchi gave me. More importantly, Valentine’s Day is tomorrow, and I’m totally unprepared. If I want to make Hina happy, I’ve got no choice but to stay up late and make the chocolate.
And then—I experience hell.
“I’ll just clean up tomorrow…”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“Ah.”
In the end, I overslept and have no time to clean the kitchen.
I shouldn’t have stayed up late after all…I’m still so sleepy…
“Kanata—!!!
Then, Hina calls my name cheerfully first thing in the morning.
“Here! Take this!!!”
“What is it, Hina? It’s still so early in the morning—”
When I first see it, I thought she’s going to give chocolate to everyone at school.
Sure, today is Valentine’s Day, but even so, that amount is a bit much…but I’m kind of curious who she’s giving it to. Inside the shopping bag she places on the desk are lots of chocolate.
And they’re all handmade…I knew it, Hina really is amazing.
They look so delicious, I want one for myself.
“Hina…?’
“Yeah?”
“Are you planning to give these chocolates to our classmates…?’
“Eh? What are you talking about? These are all for you!”
“Eh? For me?”
“Yeah! They’re all for Kanata!”
I can’t say it out loud, but I really want to say, ‘I love you’ to Hina.
Wait, all of this chocolate is for me? Is that really okay? Did Hina really make all of this just for me? She actually made this much just for me…?
Chocolate…
The happiness I feel suddenly turns into worry.
Of course, I made chocolates for Hina too, but I messed all of them up, and now I only have one piece to give her.
What should I do…Hina made all of this just for me, but I only managed to make one piece for her. Seeing Hina smiling so brightly, I have no idea what to do.
I’m really happy, but I…
There’s no point in thinking about that now. Seriously…Hina hasn’t changed at all.
“Hehe.”
“T-Thank you…Hina.”
“You’re going to eat all of it, right?”
“Y-Yeah…Umm, Hina…”
“Yeah?”
“I…made some chocolate too…”
“Eh!? Really!? You made some chocolate for me!?”
“Yeah. But it’s my first time making it, so…”
“I want it!”
“Y-Yeah…”
“Thank you!!! I’m definitely not going to eat it! I’ll never eat it until I die!”
“No, it’s food…you should eat it…”
“Then I’ll go home and eat it slowly~ Hehe, thank you so much~ I can’t believe Kanata made chocolate for me! I’m so happy!!!”
Saying that, Hina pats me on the shoulder.
She seems really happy. Yeah, I guess I can call it a success.
“You two are so lovey-dovey!!!”
“Eh!?”
Then, the girls gather around Hina.
It seems like they’ve been holding back for a while.
Come to think of it…we did exchange chocolate right in front of everyone. I completely forgot that there are a lot of classmates in the classroom. Maybe…the moment I saw that huge pile of chocolate, I stopped paying attention to everything else around us.
For some reason, I find myself thinking that I don’t want her to give chocolate to anyone else. I don’t even have the right to say something like that…and yet, I can’t help but feel that way.
How ridiculous.
“You got chocolate from Miyauchi-kun? That’s so sweet, Hina-chan!”
“Hina-chan~ That’s great!”
“W-What are you all talking about…!”
“More importantly, Hina-chan, you made a lot of chocolate.”
“Eh!? I-I…”
“Ahahaha, you’re blushing~ So cute!”
“You asked us for advice yesterday, remember? ‘What kind of chocolate should I make?’ In the end, you just made all of them. That’s so cute!”
“W-Wait a second…! I-I didn’t say that! We didn’t talk about that!”
“Ehehe, Hina-chan is so cute when she’s embarrassed~”
Yeah, let’s pretend I didn’t hear any of that. It’d be too embarrassing for me, too…
While Hina is talking with the girls in our class…I quietly sneak out of the classroom.
“Ah…”
“Ah, Kisaragi. Good morning.”
“G-Good morning…”
Come to think of it, it’s been a while since I’ve greeted Kisaragi.
More importantly, the look on her face when she looks at me seems a little lonely…or maybe I’m just imagining it? I’m not really sure.
“……”
As I keep walking down the hallway, I receive a message from Hina.
‘Where did you go? Help me, Kanata! Everyone’s teasing me!’
‘Sorry, Hina. I’ll leave that to you!’
‘Eh!? You’re abandoning me!? That’s so mean!!!’
‘I’ll never forget you, Hina! I’ll see you again, in the classroom!’
‘……’
What kind of conversation are we even having?
But even these silly exchanges…they’re part of youth, aren’t they? I can’t talk like this with anyone else besides Hina.
“Haha…”
I can’t help but let out a laugh.
“Ara, you look like you’re having fun, Kanata-kun.”
“……”
Then, for some reason, Umi is standing right in front of me.
When did she get here?
“What do you want, Umi?”
“You’re not giving me anything? Today’s Valentine’s Day today, you know?”
“Hmm? Me? Why would I?”
“Eh, so you’re always all lovey-dovey with Hina, but you ignore me? Is it because I’m your ex? But you’re the one who broke up with me, remember?”
“What are you trying to say? Whatever I do with Hina has nothing to do with you.”
“Hey, Kanata-kun. I love you. Will you go out with me? You love me too, don’t you?”
Grabbing my sleeve, Umi suddenly say something outrageous.
‘Go out with me’, she said…?
What the hell is she talking about?
“……”
