Goddess-Sama And Female Friends Get Into an Arena for Haruto. (Part 2)
I stood in front of the entrance to my morning classroom, carrying a heavy backpack stuffed with textbooks.
I arrived early, so I had about 20 minutes before the first period started, but all I could do was wait for the boring class to begin as usual today.
I thought so, but when I opened the door, I felt a different atmosphere.
A crowd had gathered in the seat farthest back from the window.
Quite a few of my classmates were gathered there, and even the students sitting farther away were looking in that direction.
That was Mikoto-san’s seat.
Surrounded by many classmates, Mikoto-san had a troubled look on her face.
It was a rare sight, as Mikoto-san doesn’t socialize with many people.
I stopped at the entrance.
I looked around and saw Hashimoto-san, the class president, sitting nearby, giggling.
She is a girl with a refreshing personality, tall and stands out wherever she is.
She was a rather easy person to talk to, and she and I were not on bad terms.
I asked Hashimoto-san.
“Good morning, Hashimoto-san. What happened?”
When Hashimoto-san noticed me, she chuckled.
“Oh, hey Akihara. You came. Everyone has been waiting for you.”
Hashimoto-san extended her hand deliberately and raised her voice.
At the same time she spoke, all of our classmates turned to look at us.
Most of their gazes were unusual and curious, but some of them seemed to be malicious and sharp.
Hashimoto-san said pleasantly.
“We heard that you are living together with the goddess, Akihara?”
“Living together!?”
I was startled.
Who could have said such a thing?
I looked at Mikoto-san, and our eyes met.
She looked at me with her blue eyes as if she was asking for my help.
I don’t know how it happened, but it seems that everyone knows that I live in the same house together with Mikoto-san.
There is nothing I can do about that now, but the misunderstanding of “living together” is not good.
I tried to keep my face as calm as possible and said,
“Who told you guys that we are living together?”
“You have an idea, don’t you?”
Hashimoto-san said as if she could see right through me.
If I had to guess, it was possible that either Kaho or Yuki had disclosed the secret.
I shrugged my shoulders.
“Me and Mikoto-san do live in the same house.”
OOOO, my classmates roared.
Then I paused for a moment.
And after getting their full attention, I continued.
“But I think it’s more accurate to say that Mikoto-san and I are just relatives, and that’s why she’s staying at my house.”
“You say that, but Akihara, you are dating the goddess, aren’t you?”
Hashimoto-san said without hearing my argument.
The other classmates nodded, as if to say, Yes, that’s right.
I was in trouble.
Hashimoto-san and my classmates all wanted to believe that Mikoto-san and I were dating and that we were living together.
Everyone must have a lot of free time on their hands.
They were all busy gossiping.
Aside from me, Mikoto-san, the goddess of the school and a lonely person who no one has been able to get close to until now.
For someone like that to have an affair and live in the same house as a male classmate, everyone would want to use it as a way to pass the time.
I sighed.
“Tell me, Hashimoto-san. Do you think a beautiful, perfect, superhuman girl like Mikoto-san would fall for me?”
“I suppose. I do think Mikoto-san is beautiful and amazing. But I don’t think you are that bad either.”
“I’m glad you say so… but I don’t think me and Mikoto-san are a match.”
I said, breaking out in a cold sweat.
There’s no way me and Mikoto-san are compatible or can even date each other… is what I’ll lead everyone to think so too.
But Hashimoto-san shook her head.
“If I were Mikoto-san, I wouldn’t feel bad if Akihara, you confessed your feelings to me. You are cool, kind, and I’d probably say yes.”
Jokingly, Hashimoto-san said.
It was unexpected and I was speechless. Come to think of it, Yuki had said she liked me too, although she had been rejected by Kaho.
Hashimoto-san chuckled and looked into my eyes, as if amused.
“Akihara, you are a very popular guy. I wouldn’t be surprised if Mikoto-san is into you.”
That’s… I don’t know. I had never thought about whether or not Mikoto-san would like me.
Come to think of it, Mikoto-san also said to me, ‘I think I understand why Akibara-kun, you are liked by girls…’
Hashimoto-san grabbed a girl nearby and asked.
“Heey, Riko, what do you say?”
“Ehh?!”
That girl looked at me, Mikoto-san, and Hashimoto-san with a puzzled expression on her face.
She is Riko Kurushima, a classmate who is good friends with Hashimoto-san. She’s the serious, quiet type.
I have the impression that she is always pushed around by Hashimoto-san.
I felt a little sorry for her this time as well, as she had to go along with Hashimoto-san’s reckless behavior.
Surprisingly, however, Kurushima did not seem too troubled and answered immediately.
“I-I might also if… Akihara-kun confessed to me.”
Saying so, Kurushima-san’s white cheeks turned red and she glanced up at me. I was so surprised that I stared at Kurushima and she looked away shyly.
Hashimoto-san’s chest was puffing out.
“See? Isn’t that what I said? Let’s hear what the goddess has to say! Please be honest, what do you think of Akihara?”
“Ehh… Ermm…”
Mikoto-san’s blue eyes wandered in the air as if she was troubled, and her cheeks were a little red. But then, as if she had made up her mind, she said in a clear voice.
“I also think that Akihara-kun is kind and cool. I think there are a lot of girls who would love Akihara-kun. I’m not a goddess… I’m constantly causing trouble for him… and if I do not fit in with him, it’s because of me. I don’t deserve his kindness.”
The classroom fell silent.
I looked up to the heavens. I think this only made everyone’s misunderstanding of the situation stronger.
In that sense, I was in trouble. Though I was…. honestly happy that Mikoto-san said in front of everyone that I was kind and cool…
