Goddess-Sama And Female Friends Get Into an Arena for Haruto.(Part 3)
After being rejected by Natsuho, I certainly didn’t believe in myself anymore. I had been close to her since childhood and believed we had a mutual love, but since she rejected me, I thought I was worthless to everyone else.
But now, Mikoto-san in front of me was acknowledging me.
It was again Hashimoto-san who broke the silence of the moment.
“That means you like Akihara, doesn’t it, Goddess-sama?”
Hashimoto-san chuckled with increasing amusement, holding up her index finger.
“They’re dating after all? Did the goddess just confess her love? No, I’m sure she did, right.”
Hashimoto-san smiled and patted Mikoto-san on her shoulder.
It is true that Mikoto-san’s comment earlier could have been misleading.
It could have misled my classmates into thinking that Mikoto-san liked me.
Mikoto-san shivered.
Hashimoto-san stared at Mikoto-san regardless of this.
“Goddess-sama, you seem to be in a different mood than usual, you really like Akihara, don’t you?”
“I-I’m not saying that I like Akihara-kun. There is no way that Akihara-kun likes me…, so I wanted to add that we are not in a relationship.”
“You don’t have to lie to us like that. The two of you are dating after all, aren’t you?”
“I’m just a distant relative of Akihara-kun’s… that’s all.”
“But, you know, -when you live under one roof, that’s not all there is to it, is it? Did Akihara ever try to do anything suspicious to you?”
“Akihara-kun would never do such a thing!”
Mikoto-san replied by reflex.
But to be honest, from my point of view, there were a lot of things I was guilty of, like wiping her naked body.
Hashimoto-san chuckled.
When Mikoto-san was told this, her face turned bright red.
Everyone stared at her.
“Hey, what do you think? Do you like Akihara? Goddess-sama!”
Hashimoto-san folded her hands behind her back and moved her face quickly toward Mikoto-san.
She would not allow any refusal to her reply.
That’s how it felt.
“If the Goddess isn’t dating Akihara, then either me or Riko will take Akihara-kun, is that okay with you?”
Hashimoto said teasingly.
Completely annoyed, Mikoto-san was shaking her head to the side and her mouth was agape.
Moreover, she looked a little teary-eyed.
I felt sorry for Mikoto-san.
If I give her a helping hand here, perhaps people will misunderstand us even more.
But it was better to be told that we were living together than to leave her on the verge of tears.
I took her hand.
It was a little embarrassing, but I needed to make a clear statement that I was taking Mikoto-san out of this place.
Mikoto-san trembled a little and stared at me with an upward glance.
“Mikoto-san. Can I talk to you outside for a minute?”
Mikoto-san shook her head in affirmation.
Once we escape from the classroom, we’ll try to find a better approach towards the problem.
Hashimoto-san’s eyes lit up.
” A date when you have a class coming up? That’s great! Oh, but you can’t skip your first period class. I’m also the class president, you know?”
“Yes, yes. We’re not going on a date, we’re going to talk about how to resolve this misunderstanding.”
“Hmm~. …Well, good luck to both of you.”
Hashimoto-san smirked and waved her hand.
I felt that anything more I said would only add fuel to the fire.
I looked back at Mikoto-san.
“Let’s go.”
“Yes.”
Mikoto-san nodded and grabbed my hand back tightly.
Then, I got up from my seat and proceeded from the window seat to the entrance of the classroom.
On the way, I saw Kaho standing there.
She stared at me with her narrow black eyes, as if she expected me to stop.
I looked back at her, but did not stop.
My priority right now is to get Mikoto-san out of here.
After I went out into the hallway, I thought about where I could find a place where people wouldn’t come.
Then I thought of going to the biology prep room.
That’s where Yuki took me the other day.
It was close by, quiet, and just right.
It was a dark room, but it’s not like we are on a date.
I pulled on Mikoto’s hand and she followed me.
I pass students coming to school in the hallway, but their stares were hurtful.
I spoke to Mikoto-san.
“You can stop holding my hand now, if you want to.”
“Ah…”
“It’s getting more and more misleading.”
“That’s right. I’ll cause trouble again for you, Akihara-kun.”
“You are not really causing me any trouble, so please don’t have to worry about it.”
“…T-Then, is it okay if I continue holding your h-hand… a little longer?”
“Ehh?”
“Akihara-kun, your hands feel warm and comfortable.”
Mikoto-san said in a low voice and looked at me with her blue eyes.
When she said it like that, I felt embarrassed too.
In the end, Mikoto-san and I entered the biology preparation room, while holding each other’s hands.
The room was dimly lit, long and narrow.
The brown shelves were stocked with a large number of chemicals and model animals.
“Mikoto-san. Would you mind closing the door?”
“Yes.”
Mikoto-san nodded, looked intently at our hands and then let go of them.
Then she gently closed the door to the room.
We stood facing each other.
Mikoto-san looked down and said,
“I’m sorry. It’s my fault. I caused you trouble, Akihara-kun. We are not even in a relationship, but everyone in the class said a lot of things about you. …Even what happened with Sasaki-san and Sakurai-san, when I think about it, if only I hadn’t been there, surely none of it would have happened.”
“I told you before, you don’t have to worry about that. Everyone in the class just likes to gossip. As for Kaho and Yuki, it’s all my fault.”
“Do you really believe that?”
“I’m not lying.”
“I just thought… that …if I’m with you, Akihara-kun… it’s okay… to be misunderstood.”
Mikoto-san said as she averted her gaze.
By misunderstood, she means, is it okay if everyone else thinks she’s dating me, or living with me, or something like that?
Mikoto-san quietly approached me.
She looked down at her hands and then looked straight at me as if she had made up her mind to do something.
“If you don’t mind, I think it would have been okay for me to tell Hashimoto-san that I like you, Akihara-kun.”
“What?”
“That we are dating?”
“Uhmm, What do you mean by that?”
I scowled and took a step back, almost catching my foot on a cardboard box lying on the floor, thinking that Mikoto-san was really going to confess to me.
What should I do?
What should I do if Mikoto-san confessed to me now?
Thoughts of Kaho came to my mind.
For some reason, in my imagination Kaho was staring at me accusingly.
However, what Mikoto-san said next was totally different from what I expected.
