A Chance To Rewrite It All - Chapter 8- Mom~2
The first thing that came to her mind was that Ryuuske stole that money from someone by threatening them or might have robbed them forcibly.
And somehow, Ryuuske realized what she was thinking just by looking at her expression.
“Mom, calm down and l-”
“You robbed someone?! I knew you were reckless and mischievous but this….this is a crime!” She suddenly took out her phone and began to dial the police, when suddenly Ryuuske took her phone away and handed her the contract which he received from Hiyori.
“I know you can read it, so go on.”
Himiko was still in a panic and overwhelmed by the emotion of the crisis, yet when the document landed in her hand, she faintly read the details….only to find her eyes widening
The contract was detailed on the MOA of a registered company, and the other party was none other than her son, who had agreed to build some kind of chatting application in return for which he received this advanced payment.
Ryuuske knew his mother well, that’s why he requested Hiyori to give him a written contract about their deal. Naturally, Hiyori agreed. Although she didn’t take the keys of his bike, saying she could now trust him would be too far-fetched.
“This…” Raising her eyes, she questioned her son.
“I have been studying and building an application side by side. I used some connections to form this contract once I had the prototype ready and they really loved my idea, giving me this advance instantly.” Naturally, Ryuuske lied to her about the prototype, given she wouldn’t believe that someone gave him such an amount just based on an outline.
Himiko still couldn’t believe it, but looking at the company logo…she had no way of denying it.
However, she needed assurance, “Can I talk to them?”
Hearing her words, Ryuuske nodded before he texted Hiyori and asked if she could talk to his mother. Needless to say, he requested her to mention the prototype.
[…fine. But don’t make it long.]
Ryuuske called the girl, and told his mother, “Don’t talk to her for long. Busy woman, you see.”
Himiko raised her brows, “Why always a woman?”
Ryuuske…had no answer for that as he heard the call connecting and he extended it toward Himiko
“Good evening, I am Ryuuske’s mother. Umm…is it true that…” After that, Himiko went to ask, more than once, if the person on the other side was sure of letting Ryuuske have this contract. Or if they made some mistake forming the decision.
Himiko looked so unsure and anxious that Ryuuske had to bring some water for her and bring the lady to sit down on the couch.
“Yes…yes, thank you. Yes, definitely.” And with that, the call disconnected. There was a soft smile on the lady’s face, signifying her chat with Hiyori went better than what he initially expected
Himiko heaved a sigh and looked at her son, who was currently kneeling before her.
There was something…wrong with him today. He looked concerned for her, and there was a sense of longing in his eyes.
Almost like….he missed her for a long time and was just cherishing this moment when they were together.
She cupped his cheek before asking, “What happened, Ryuu? Are you unwell?” A mother can never give anything more attention than their child’s well-being.
Ryuuske leaned his face in her touch, feeling the familiar but long-lost sensation spreading over his face and warming his heart.
He held her hand and remained silent. There were many things he wanted to say and ask. Wanted to suggest things and become stubborn for some.
However, all Ryuuske let out was a single droplet of tears down his eyes, as he planted his head softly on her leg and thanked whatever deity who allowed him to return in time.
Himiko grew worried, as she asked, “Did someone say something to you? Or someone bullied you? Tell me their name, I will go and talk to their parents.”
Ryuuske chuckled, “The type of person you are talking about is probably me, Mom.”
“…..well, not like you cannot get bullied. After all, you are still a child.” Himiko added, in a less vigorous tone. Resting her hand over his head, she softly asked, “Are you worried about something?”
Ryuuske hesitated for a moment before raising his head and asking her, “Mom…can you listen to what I say? I swear I have pondered over this for a long time, and only then have I come to this decision.”
Himiko raised her brows, wordlessly asking him to continue.
Ryuuske heaved a sigh. He was nervous, given his following words might make her annoyed, but still, he continued, “Resign from your job.”
As Ryuuske expected she didn’t instantly agree and asked, “But Ryuu, I am the only one with a stable income in the house-”
“But Mom, we have enough money to last for two years even if we spend carelessly. And this money is mine now to spend, however I like. Even if I don’t earn a single penny after this, you can start somewhere else, no?”
Ryuuske couldn’t just say that he would make them billionaires within a few years, considering his behaviour until now. That’s why he gave her a wide margin of error from his end.
Himiko remained silent. She really was not sure if she should be leaving her job where she got the status of a permanent employee just a few months ago.
But….after looking at the contract and talking to that nice lady on the phone, Himiko had a hope.
And most importantly, seeing how anxious and concerned her son seemed for her, she couldn’t bring herself to say ‘no’.
Heaving a sigh, she nodded, “Okay…I will send the resignation letter and leave that job.” With a snicker, she added, “That place is a shit hole, anyways.”
“Language, mom.” Ryuuske rebuked.
Himiko quirked her brow, “Really? Now you are going to teacher your old lady, eh brat?”
Ryuuske chuckled before he picked the packet of rice crackers and asked her, “Don’t tell me this was our dinner?”
Himiko chuckled, “Don’t worry, I will make something good for us.”
Ruffling his hair, she got up and after taking a few steps towards kitchen….
*Thud*
….she fell to the floor.
