A Chance To Rewrite It All - Chapter 6- Deal
I had a meeting with Hiyori in two hours that’s why I had to bid farewell to Yuna.
“Ryuu-kun, where are you going?” There was uncertainty and fear in her eyes when she asked that.
The sun was about to go down, and I told her that I had to meet someone. Considering my history, she had a valid reason to be anxious.
Heaving a sigh, I told her the truth, “To meet my ex. However, not for what you are thinking, rather, it’s something related to work.”
Her shoulders trembled as the silly girl’s eyes became moist, and slowly, she uttered, “O-Okay…I-I will trust you…I-I…”
Well, I can’t expect her to trust me just because I told her to. So what’s the best thing to do?
“Why don’t you come with me? It might become boring but in that way, we can spend more time?” You can’t call yourself all pure and devoted when you were a Playboy until yesterday. And to build that trust between us, I have to keep her near me.
As much as I can.
“A-Are you sure? I will be fine even if-”
“No, I want you to come so please don’t reject my request unless you have something important to do.”
Yuna’s face became brighter as she shook her head and said, “I have nothing to do…so let’s go?”
Although she said that I had heard her phone buzzing quite many times. Her mother must be worried that’s why I suggested,
“Why don’t you let your parents know that you are safe and will be back by eight?”
Hearing my words she hurriedly hid her phone behind her back.
I continued to look into her eyes and that was enough to urge her to take the call.
“Excuse me, Ryuu-kun.” Saying so, she walked out of the room to take the call.
Meanwhile, I looked at myself, and fortunately, I was still looking presentable enough not to come out as a joker. If I had worn my regular clothes while offering a deal…ugh.
She came back after chatting for a minute and the frown she had clearly told me the fluency of the conversation she must have
The problem is that Yuna’s mother is well set on making that bastard Sato her son-in-law. Sato has wrapped her around his finger, and naturally, he must have informed Yuna’s involvement with a delinquent and playboy like me.
“Everything good?” Softly I asked.
Yuna turned off her phone before saying, “Yes, I told her. Now, let’s go?”
Telling her not to go against her mother and return home would only hurt her feelings, so, I decided to deal with her mother later, and after holding her hand, I escorted Yuna out of the house.
*****
Tsukasa Hiyori is the daughter of the chairman of a multi-national company. Not only beautiful but Hiyori had the brains to finish her masters a year earlier than what it usually takes and start her own company.
The reason why she got entangled with me in the first place was because of her break up with her childhood friend turned boyfriend. I met her by chance, and using my sweet-talking skills, I fooled her into my bed.
Agh, bad old memories. I shouldn’t have used her emotions to corner her.
Now, the same girl was sitting across from me, with her hands folded and eyes narrowed.
She looks the same as I remember. Short green hair, emerald eyes, a beautiful face and a bad temper.
I asked Yuna to sit at a different table since the words Hiyori say Yuna might not like them. And thankfully she agreed.
Sitting across from her, I didn’t feel as nervous as I thought I would be. I was not very close to her, and from a professional perspective, Hiyori might be one of the easiest clients.
Resting the clip file on the table I greeted her, “How have you been, Hiy-”
“Get to the point.” She was strict and wary as ever. Well, she has all the reasons to be. Recently, I tried threatening her using some pictures among the hundreds of them I have on my phone.
But she didn’t submit to it and filed a complaint against me to the police. When Mom heard about it….she broke down.
A very bad memory which I didn’t want to relive.
“For what happened between us…I don’t think saying a simple apology would do, so let’s keep that aside for now, “Unclipping the file, I turned the documents towards her and added, “I have designed an application; a comprehensive communication platform that can redefine how people connect, share, and engage globally….”
I went on and on for three minutes, detailing every single feature of the app which can make it look profitable.
Hiyori went through several changes in her expression while listening to me. I even gave her a rough idea of how I was going to design it and how much time I would need.
Hiyori is originally a game developer so it wasn’t like she didn’t understand what I was saying.
She even asked me a few questions regarding the app’s charges, requirements to use and accessibility. I was happy that she showed interest in it.
Half an hour it took for our conversation to come to a halt.
Hiyori leaned back in her seat and sipped on her iced tea. Her expression remained unreadable as she stared at the documents for a long time.
I glanced at Yuna and found her looking back at me in concern. I felt bad for making her sit here like this, but I couldn’t urge Hiyori to decide in a rush.
I gestured at her to give me some more time, and she readily nodded.
“Have you talked to someone else regarding this?” Hearing her question I shook my head,
“No, you are the first one to see the outline and concept.”
“And…are you willing to sell it upfront?”
“Nope, I will sign a royalty contract. 80/20.”
Hiyori snickered, “Your application is just in the planning stage and you are setting up such high royalty? Surely, you are new to this.”
I leaned forward and rested my chin on my balled fist before asking her, “You know the profitability of this application once it enters the market, right? Naturally, you can reject the offer and I will look for someone else when the application is ready. And if it still does not work, I might just sell it to someone.”
Hiyori gritted her teeth; clearly annoyed.
“Okay, fine! I will get a contract prepared but don’t you dare show this idea to anyone else.”
I nodded with a smile but soon asked her, “Before that, I want to ask you for an advance payment of five million yen. If possible, today.”
Hiyori’s eyes widened, “Are you nuts? Why would I invest in you when I still doubt you are stealing someone’s idea? We don’t have any contract and I know you fairly well to-”
“I will give you this as collateral.” I suddenly took out a key with a flame key ring attached to it.
Hiyori looked at the keyring carefully before she gasped, “Isn’t that–how desperate are you, Ryuuske?”
The reason she reacted like that was because this key was of the modified dirt bike I have been building for four years now. And she knows how much I adore it.
The reason why Hiyori broke up with me was that she accidentally spilled beer on my bike, and I shouted at her.
.
Truth be told I still have attachment to that motorcycle…but it is not more important than my mother’s health.
Hiyori stared at me with a baffled look before she suddenly picked up her phone and called someone,
“Lara, bring that bag for me.”
Hearing those words, I couldn’t stop myself from smiling.
