Volume 11 Chapter 22 Ku Ruu’s Strategy
“Iris… thank you.”
As Iris fell towards the ship after she severed Ku Ruu’s thick leg, Ruisha muttered while watching.
Without her dedication, Ruisha would have been thrown into the sea. Thanks to her, Ruisha safely landed on Ku Ruu’s torso.
“No time to linger! Hurry and cut off the other leg before it heals!”
“Yes, let’s hurry!”
Prompted by Bat, Ruisha hurried.
Even as they did this, the severed legs were regenerating. They couldn’t release the two people who had been taken in until all the thick legs were severed.
“Lulu…!”
Ku Ruu’s eyes moved sharply, glaring at the two enemies on its body.
It attempted to attack using the remaining seven legs but stopped itself. Ku Ruu noticed that its legs were being targeted.
Giving up on using its legs for the attack, Ku Ruu opened its mouth wide towards Ruisha and the others. Sensing a strong magical power from within its mouth, Ruisha’s expression turned grim.
“Bat-san!”
“I understand! Is that… coming!?”
The “that” Bat was referring to was Ku Ruu’s only long-range attack method, a water cannon.
It spews out a tightly compressed mass of water from its mouth. It may not sound like much when put into words, but when a creature of this size does it, it’s equivalent to a disaster.
If a live being were to take that attack, which pulverizes even large galleon ships into pieces, it would be impossible for even a well-trained warrior to retain their original form.
(There’s nowhere to run…! Falling into the sea would just mean getting caught. What should I do!?)
Ruisha panics.
The likelihood of defending against this attack with defensive magic is high. Using the last resort, “Demon Dragon Mode,” might work somehow, but it would consume a considerable amount of energy.
What to do. Is it the right time to play this trump card–––
As Ruisha wrestles with his thoughts, a familiar voice reaches his ears.
“Are you going to let it happen?!”
The one who shouted that was Wolf.
He grabbed onto one of Ku Ruu’s thick leg and transitioned into “Werewolf Mode.”
His entire body’s muscles expand, approaching a wolf-like physique.
His claws and fangs sharpen and become as sharp as knives.
“Reduce these legs, and the strength goes, right?”
“Cursed claw, the calamity-cutting wolf claw!’”
Wolf swung his enlarged arm vigorously.
The heavy blow severed Ku-Ruu’s sturdy legs in half.
Ku-Ruu grimaced in pain, but the energy he had gathered in his mouth remained. Apparently, it seemed that just one leg wasn’t enough to stop it.
“Tch! Then, I’ll leave the other one to you, sis!”
“Don’t call me sis!”
When Wolf shouted, Sharo, grabbing onto the other leg, replied.
Balancing desperately on its leg, Sharo infused her sword with strength.
“I don’t have special powers like Iris or Wolf. If that’s the case, I’ll stack my strength… up to… here!”
While Sharo lacked extraordinary strength, she had mastered various abilities in a well-rounded manner. In a sense, she might be the one closest to Ruisha.
“Transcendent Physical Enhancement Fol Bulk! And… Qigong Technique, Attack Style, ‘Brilliant Talent Burst’!”
Magic and Qigong techniques. Layering these two body strengthening techniques caused Sharo’s body to temporarily surge. However, the strain was tremendous, her vision blurred, and her body ached as consciousness faded.
But she gritted her teeth and endured. To protect her loved ones, she needed to surpass her limits now.
“Sakura Brave Spirit Style, Petal Flash!”
A cherry blossom-colored flash was released at an incredible speed.
It cleanly severed Ku-Ruu’s legs without any hesitation.
“Rurgh!?”
Losing two legs in one go, Ku-Ruu’s energy was significantly depleted, and the attack was interrupted.
Seeing this, Sharo loosened her cheeks in relief.
“I did it…”
Sharo, who had exhausted all her strength, began to fall weakly.
At that moment, Wolf, who had transformed into werewolf mode, caught her with his back.
“Are you okay, sis?”
“…If you call me sis again, I’ll pluck your fur.”
“Heh, that’s scary.”
Wolf laughed like that as he returned to the ship.
He no longer had the strength to continue the battle. All that was left was to entrust it to those they could rely on.

Volume 11 Chapter 23 Bonds of Blood
“They’ve done it!”
Upon seeing the two severed legs, Bat let out a cry of joy.
There were still five legs remaining. They had not even taken down half. It was safe to say they were in a good pace.
“But the first cut leg is starting to regenerate!”
“Yeah, we’re running out of time. Let’s finish this in one go!”
Ruisha and Bat split up, each aiming for one of the remaining legs.
The easily targeted leg in front of Ku-Ruu had already been severed. What remained were the legs towards the rear. The two of them sprinted across Ku-Ruu’s body at full speed.
“Prepare the main cannon!”
Meanwhile, the Black Elizabeth aimed its main cannon at Ku-Ruu’s legs.
If they could take down even one, it would significantly reduce the burden on the captain. The crew members fought against the monster octopus climbing onto the ship, desperately maintaining the ship’s balance and adjusting the aim of the main cannon.
The situation was also visible to Ku-Ruu. Naturally, Bat’s pace quickened.
“I have great subordinates who’s devoted even to the point of risking their life. As the captain, if I don’t respond, I wouldn’t be a true man!”
He tightly grips the saber in his right hand, and Bat leaps.
He has never practiced swordsmanship. Although he wields a saber, he rarely draws it, primarily fighting with his fists.
Certainly, his technique is rough.
However, his strike, possessing inhuman strength, carries a power and sharpness comparable to that of a master swordsman.
“Savage Shell Sword!”
A forceful upper strike.
Though the cut is rough, the strike cleanly severs Ku Ruu’s leg.
“Ha! One more!”
With surplus strength, Bat aims for the next leg.
However, at that moment, he realizes that his saber is broken from the hilt.
“Damn, I haven’t maintained it for a while.”
While discarding the unusable saber, Bat rushes towards the next leg.
“Cutting with fists is indeed difficult. Perhaps a knife hand strike might work…!?”
Bat ponders while heading towards the adjacent leg.
Then, the leg beside it is cleanly severed.
The one who accomplished this was Bat’s great-granddaughter, Cindy.
Arriving slightly after Ruisha and the others, she had also successfully completed her mission.
“So that leaves three more. If I can just cut this one in front of me…!”
Bat wears a stern expression.
At that moment, the leg in front of him erupts into a fierce explosion.
“Whoa!?”
Bat is surprised.
He quickly realizes the source of the explosion.
“They’ve really done it!”
The explosion was caused by the main cannon of the Black Elizabeth.
While battling the monster octopus, the crew had aimed at the base of the leg and successfully fired the cannon.
The impact of the main cannon was tremendous, and the point of impact was charred black. However, it didn’t completely sever the leg and remained partly connected. This meant there was a danger of it regenerating soon.
Bat rushes to the point of impact, desperately trying to cut it off.
Cindy, who was watching from a distance, comprehends the situation and joins Bat for support.
“Captain Bat!”
At the call of his name, Bat directs his gaze.
Cindy hurls a saber towards him. Just to be safe, she had brought two sabers, so losing one was not an issue.
The thrown saber arcs and flies towards Bat.
Timing, angle, speed everything is perfect in the precise throw, and Bat smiles.
“Heh, even after all these years together, our coordination is still unmatched. Can’t underestimate that blood bond.”
In mid-air, Bat catches the saber with perfect precision and swings it down towards the regenerating leg.
“Here we go…!”
Once again, Bat’s powerful strike lands, severing the leg.
Now there are two legs left. Positionally, only Ruisha can make it in time. Everything is entrusted to him.
“The regeneration of the first leg has begun. I’m counting on you to act swiftly…!”
Bat prays.
Meanwhile, Ruisha arrives at the location where the last two legs are.
“Everyone is doing their best, I will definitely cut them!”
Ruisha sensed through magical detection who had cut which legs.
Only two legs remained right in front of him. And he knew he was the only one capable of cutting them.
This was the time to give it his all. This was the place to use his trump card.
Ruisha finally activated what he had been conserving.
“Demon Dragon Mode, activate!”
The powers of the Demon King and Dragon King flowed through his body, awakening.
Demon eyes and dragon eyes opened, and red horns sprouted from his forehead.
The overflowing black magic from his body took the form of a cloak and tail, moving at his will.
Ruisha transformed the cloak into the shape of wings, flew, and slipped between the two legs.
“It’s over! True Dimensional Slash!”
Ruisha swung his blade in the air, spinning vertically. The slash that cut in a circular motion severed both legs at once.
“Lu… Luaaaahhh!!”
Ku Ruu’s scream echoed over the sea.
Finally, Ruisha and the others had successfully severed all of Ku Ruu’s legs.
