After a few days had passed, I tried to confess to Tenshin again with the help of Seira…
Let’s start with the results. I failed miserably.
The reason for this was, of course, because of Seira’s failure to use her divine powers properly.
Here’s the story of what happened, for the most part.
After school, I called Tenshin up to the rooftop and tried to confess my love to her, but Tsukimiya interfered by temporarily making me fall in love with her boobs. Then, Seira tried to block it by using her divine powers, but she failed, and in the end, she only caused me to have romantic feelings for Yuno.
And because of my momentary infatuation with Yuno, I aggressively pursued her, and as a result, I got beaten up… Seriously, that was painful.
As you can see, I’ve had the help of Seira, a god of romantic comedy, but in the end, I haven’t been able to confess my feelings to Tenshin. I hate to say this, but… honestly, Seira has not been very helpful at all.
Or rather, I’ve realized one thing after these two failures.
“Hey, Seira. Tell me, is it possible that you can’t use your divine powers properly?”
“Gi-ku…”
After school. When I questioned Seira on the empty rooftop, she reacted with a “Gi-ku”!
I’ve never seen anyone “gulped” that out loud before due to surprise.
“T-that’s not p-possibly true. I-I-I’m a-a god of romantic comedy, you know. I-I-I c-can obviously use my divine powers properly.”
Seira insists… but her teeth are chattering non-stop.
Incidentally, Tsukimiya is on a date with her sisters today, so there’s no need to worry about our conversation being intruded on.
“But then, why do so many of my confessions keep failing?”
“W-well, t-that’s because… I’m a little out of shape. If I get serious, I can use my divine powers with ease.”
“That’s an absolute lie. It has been two times that I have worked with Seira to confess, but on those two occasions, you have not been able to use your divine powers properly. When are you going to be able to use it properly?”
“Uh, ah-uh…”
With sweat pouring down her forehead, Seira was clearly acting suspiciously.
I need to make sure of this.
“I’m going to ask you again one more time, and please be honest with me. Can Seira not use her divine powers properly?”
When I asked, Seira’s eyes darted left and right, and she eventually went silent.
E-eh? You’re gonna use the silent treatment here?
As I was thinking that.
“I’m reeeaaaaaally sooooorrrry!!!”
Seira cried out loudly as she apologized.
Huh, why are you crying so suddenly? Is it my fault?
“The truth is, I’ve been unable to use my divine powers. In fact, I’ve never been able to use it properly even once before.”
Seira confessed the truth while crying. She was not as noble as she had initially seemed, and she looked like a small child now.
“C-calm down, Seira. F-For now, wipe your tears.”
I tried to get a handkerchief out of my pockets… but my handkerchief was not in it. Oops. I forgot that I dropped my handkerchief somewhere a while ago. (TN: The one with Tenshin fufu)
“H-here, use this to blow your nose.”
I found a pocket tissue in my other pocket and offered it to her.
Seira, still sniffling, took it and sneezed.
She really looks like… a different person from what I had first thought of her.
“…Apologies for my behavior. I slightly lost my composure.”
“It wasn’t just slightly, though.”
And after a while, Seira completely stopped crying.
However, her eyes were still red and swollen from crying so much.
“So, why did you decide to help me confess if you can’t use your divine powers properly?”
I told Seira when I asked for her help with my confession. I wanted her to use her power as the god of romantic comedy to stop Tsukimiya from getting in the way. So why did Seira, who cannot use her divine powers properly, accept my request?
“I was very happy.”
“You were happy?”
“Yes. As I mentioned earlier, I’ve never been able to use my divine power properly before, so I’ve never been able to make anyone’s love come true. That’s why I was so happy when Kirishima-san asked for my help in confessing her feelings to Tenshin-san. I was happy knowing that there was someone out there who would rely on me.”
Seira’s face turned bright red as she shyly said this.
Now I get it. So that’s why Seira was so supportive of my confession and seemed so motivated to help.
However, I asked her for help with the confession because I thought Seira was an excellent romantic comedy god.
“Come to think of it. When you were talking to Tsukimiya and Yuno before, didn’t you say that you helped 200 people fall in love in a month? And also, that you’re a better god of romantic comedy than Tsukimiya and the others.”
“…”
Seira slowly looked away. Ah, I see. So that’s all a lie, too.
“That is… I haven’t told Athena and Yuno that I can’t use my divine powers properly.”
“So does that mean that Tsukimiya and Yuno still don’t know that you can’t use God’s power properly?”
Seira nodded at my words.
“But, how could this be… You, Tsukimiya, and the others are both gods of romantic comedy, so you were probably involved with each other in the heavens, right? How did you manage to not get caught?”
“That’s wrong. As I mentioned before, I got to know Athena and Yuno when I came down to earth from the heavens. Therefore, I did not know them at all when I was in the heavens.”
“Is that right? How did that happen?”
“Perhaps it was simply because we lived so far apart from each other.”
“What a pretty standard reason…”
I was expecting a more bizarre reason. However, it wasn’t as surprising as I thought it would be.
“But you, Tsukimiya, and Yuno are friends, right? Are you sure you want to keep the fact that you can’t use your powers properly a secret?”
“I can’t tell them, especially now. Because I’m known to them as an outstanding romantic comedy god.”
Seira pouted and looked away. Umm… you know it’s not a good idea to lie right?
“… Kirishima-san.”
Seira abruptly muttered. For some reason, she looked unhappy.
“What is it?”
“I’ve decided. I will not cooperate with Kirishima-san’s confession any longer.”
After saying that, tears flowed from Seira’s eyes and fell down her cheeks.
“B-Because… *sniff*… If… If I help with Kirishima-san’s confession… *sniff**sniff*… It would only trouble Kirishima-san… That’s why… I won’t help with Kirishima-san’s confession anymore.”
Seira explained while crying. There were probably many reasons for her tears.
The feeling of guilt for not fulfilling her duties as the god of romantic comedy. The frustration of not being able to live up to the expectations of those who have come to rely on her. And maybe she still wanted to help me confess my feelings.
So, I thought deeply about it. Is Seira really useless for fulfilling my confession?
Certainly, if Seira is not able to use the power of the god of romantic comedy, it might not make sense to have her as a collaborator for my confession. But now, I can’t think of any better idea than to ask for Seira’s help.
Then there’s only one answer on what I should do.
“No, Seira, just continue to help me with my confession.”
When I told her that, she was so surprised that tears stopped flowing from her eyes.
“B-But why? I can’t help with Kirishima-san’s confession properly even if I’m there…”
“You can’t help me? You know that’s not true.”
I continued to speak while assuring her.
“Listen up, Seira. From now on, you’re going to help me in a lot of ways until you learn to use your divine power properly.”
“… until I can use my divine powers properly…”
“Y-Yeah.”
Seira, despite being a god of romantic comedy, is not able to use her divine power. Which is why she can’t help me with my confession.
If that’s the case, the first thing we should do is to solve the problem of Seira’s inability to use her divine power properly. That way, Seira will be able to use it and help me with my confession.
And I could also greatly increase my chances of getting my feelings across to Tenshin.
So I explained that to Seira.
“B-But as I expected that’s still going to cause problems for Kirishima-san─“
“Don’t get me wrong. I’m doing this for myself. If Seira can learn to use her divine power properly and help with my confession, I’m sure my confession will go through, right?”
“T-That may be so, but…”
Seira looks unsure. She is probably still worried that she’ll only be a bother to me. But…
“Is it really okay?”
Seira asked nervously.
“I’ve decided on it, so it’s all good. I really want to confess my feelings to Tenshin. And for that, I will do whatever it takes until you are able to use your divine powers properly.”
“K-Kirishima-san…”
Seira was about to start crying again. Really, what will I do with you…?
“Seira, once again, I look forward to working with you.”
“Y-Yes! Thank you very much.”
We shook each other’s hands.
And this is how Seira once again became a collaborator for my confession.
