With great powers, comes a great harem! - Chapter 98- Decision
All my life was a lie—if someone wanted to give an example of that phrase, then Yuki would be the best candidate.
Sitting on the bed with his two supporters on either side, Yuki heard from his so-called father about his past, present, and possible future.
It turned out Akira wasn’t lying and Yuki indeed is an ancient alien who transversed through time to be born in the era and reunite with his master.
The same story was told by Yuiichi, albeit a bit more in detail about the Generals and the role of Aldric in the Sovereign’s army. The fact Aldric wasn’t a full vampire, reveals the reason why Yuki had to be born in a different way than the other vampires.
Just like Yuiichi every other vampire just went into hibernation and woke up in the era, because of the sudden magic ingested in the world. However, Yuki was born from his biological mother, Kurokawa Mizuo’s womb.
The fact his mother was told that she was giving birth to some strong ancient being, her expectations with her child were above heaven. And when Yuki didn’t awaken any useful skill, she was pushed to near insanity. And the reason why Yuiichi never seemed to be much bothered about Yuki was because he knew, Yuki would awaken his skills when the time came.
‘So that’s why…she seemed so disappointed in me…” Yuki muttered to himself as he remained seated with his head downcast.
Now all the pieces were joining together.
Maya was completely silent, but inwardly she was anxious and thinking of what she should say to comfort him.
It was then, that Shio asked the older Kurokawa, “When you were given the role of taking care of Yuki-kun until he doesn’t regain his memories, why did you abandon him after he was told to leave the clan?” It was unusual for Shio to showcase such strong emotions. Her voice suggested aggression, and her words suggested that she was blaming Yuiichi.
In response, the older one shrugged, “Yuki can blame me if he wants but if I had remained at the same place for too long then the other vampires would have noticed and Yuki might have gotten attacked even before awakening.”
Shio narrowed her eyes, “It seems you are making excuses…”
Yuiichi didn’t reply to her but asked Yuki, “I helped you as much as I could by providing your sister with frequent job offers…it’s just, that girl is too clumsy to retain her position in one place for long.”
Yuki didn’t say anything about it but inwardly he agreed.
The reason why he was so silent was that he felt like a fool believing in things like ‘blessings’ and that ‘system’.
All those things were nothing but an illusion created by Yuiichi, to ease up the process of re-assimilation.
Yuki felt so stupid right now.
“Fuuuu…” Exhaling aloud, Yuki drew everyone’s attention as they saw him hopping off the bed and stretching his body a little.
“Yuki-sama….?”
“Yuki-kun?” Shio and Maya grew tense seeing him acting strange as they thought that the bounds of his tolerance might have been breached.
However, they were wrong.
“So, my humble caretaker, can you tell me how I can regain the rest of my memories?” Directing his gaze at Yuiichi, Yuki asked with his hands folded on his chest.
Yuiichi was stunned seeing such a change, as he asked in a daze, “…aren’t you gonna blame me?”
“For what? You did what you were told and now your purpose is fulfilled. Just tell me the way to regain my memories and we won’t have to see each other. Ever again.” The last bit of his words carried murderous intent.
Those red orbs began vibrant and momentarily, Akira lost control of her spell. If Yuki had been in the right mind, then he might have overwhelmed her by now.
Yuiichi was left speechless for several seconds, before his face morphed into a serious frown as he reported, “You need to regularly nourish yourself with your partner’s blood and consume the little part left of your past body. Those would be enough to restore your memories. And to regain your strength…you need to get in contact with the Sovereign again.”
Yuki contemplated hearing those words, before he asked, “Is it necessary for me to serve the Sovereign? I mean, if I don’t get involved with that guy, the other vampires wouldn’t chase me, right?”
In addition to that, Maya spoke up, “…and in that way, Yuki-sama wouldn’t need to regain those memories in the first place.”
Yuiichi’s frown deepened, “Are you planning to switch sides?”
“I am planning to not participate in this conflict at all. Truth be told, I just want to continue my daily life as a student and spend my days with the people about whom I really care.”
Yuki never desired chaos, as much as he did strength. However, strength was insurance that if something came his way to pursue a stable life, then Yuki could crush it with his hands.
Yuiichi remained silent for a moment, and this time Akira spoke up, “Your presence is being sensed, Yuki-kun. And many people harbor hatred toward you. Without your real strength, you won’t be able to retaliate.”
“But didn’t you say that because of mana, the vampires were not able to take over the world again? That means they aren’t that mighty.” Yuki reasoned.
“But that-” Akira was about to say something to clear up the misunderstanding when suddenly Yuiichi raised his hand to stop her.
Glancing at her over his shoulder, Yuiichi shook his head.
Refocusing forward, Yuichi’s expression relaxed as he said, “You are free to do whatever you want. Live however you like. I assure you, I, Akira, or anyone serving the Sovereign would never contact you again.”
Without turning, Yuiichi ordered the girl, “Akira…lift the spell and let him go.”
“But out there-!!” Suddenly, Akira’s body trembled, and so did the others’. The sheer bloodlust radiating from Yuiichi turned the air oppressively heavy, causing everyone around him to hold their breath in terror. The atmosphere thickened with a palpable dread, paralyzing all who felt its sinister presence.
Akira gritted her teeth, and finally lifted the spell which was restraining Yuki.
Yuiichi pulled away his aura, and soon a smile lifted the edges of his lips.
With that smile, he conveyed something that Yuiichi felt from the depth of his heart, “Sorry kid. I know I wasn’t a great father, but I did whatever I could have.”
Yuki remained silent; staring at the man whom he once hated. But now, complex emotions weighed his heart. Many things Yuki had to process, and for that, this wasn’t the best place.
“Maya…”
Understanding the command, she opened a portal and the trio soon disappeared from the room.
After they left, Akira limped her way toward the bed, and just as she was about to sit down, she heard Yuiichi’s words,
“I will be off for a long time, so I suggest you hide from your father.”
Akira frowned, “Where are you going?”
Yuiichi indifferently replied, “To piss off the Independent Council.”
Akira’s eyes widened, “Are you nuts?! You would be dead even before you could lift a finger.”
Yuiichi smirked at that and didn’t reply to her.
Before his death, Yuiichi wanted to do something for the boy who once used to call him, ‘Dad’.
