With great powers, comes a great harem! - Chapter 96- I can help
‘You are not worthy to serve him.’
‘You aren’t meant to be with him.’
‘You have taken advantage of his kindness.’
‘You betrayed him!’
‘You were never worthy to serve him.’
“*Huff* *Huff* *Huff*”
Shio was startled upon seeing Maya suddenly waking up from her slumber and panting with a pale face.
Sweat rolled down her head as the blond girl stared blankly at her hands.
“M-Maya-san? Are you alright?” Shio approached her and after pouring water into a glass she extended it toward Maya.
Maya shook her head in denial before she lay down again.
Shio didn’t insist and decided to delay calling the doctor.
“…you looked quite restless in the sleep. What happened, can you tell me?” Shio’s concern wasn’t only directed to Yuki but also to Maya who came to the hospital in a very critical state. Witnessing her current condition only multiplied her worries.
Maya remained silent for a moment. Her eyes never left staring at the ceiling yet no particular emotion could be identified in them. Her demeanor oozed with a rare emotion of helplessness.
However, she chose to ignore her problems, and asked Shio, “Is there any news about Yuki-sama?”
“….no, but I know he is safe. If you concentrate on our connection you will discover as well.”
Maya could faintly feel Yuki’s presence that’s why she knew Shio wasn’t baselessly consoling her.
Maya heaved a sigh and covered her eyes with her forearm, “I failed him….again.”
“Yeah, you did.”
Maya was momentarily stunned, given she wasn’t expecting Shio to outrightly accept her self-accusation.
Glancing at Shio, she heard the brunette continuing, “You failed to save Yuki-kun from those people who even gave a hard time to the Sword Saint. Definitely, you could have protected him despite receiving fatal injuries…yet all you did was nothing.”
Maya couldn’t help but narrow her eyes at that, “Is this your way of consoling people?”
Shio smiled in embarrassment, “It didn’t work? Well, I said nothing untrue. You were powerless but it isn’t like you didn’t try, right?”
Maya didn’t respond to that and heaved another sigh.
She found it nonsensical to make excuses about how she couldn’t move her Lord away from the danger or how she failed to inflict any damage to the enemy.
In the past month, whenever her Lord has been targeted, Maya has been the least helpful. All she does is look at him suffering and facing everything on his own.
….that’s why, the statement which the red-eyed woman made before disappearing, was haunting Maya until now.
‘From the start, someone like you never was worthy to serve him.’
“Maya-san, why are you doing this? Self-blaming would not bring us anywhere. Have you lost the motivation to save Yuki-kun?”
“No.” The answer came out instinctively. She could never abandon her Lord again. She would accept death rather than going separate ways from her Lord. Once again.
Shio took Maya’s hand in hers and warmly said, “Then stop crying over the past, Maya-san. You did what you could have and now, Yuki-kun needs us.”
Taking a deep breath, Shio added, “And alone, I cannot do anything. Heck, I won’t be able to reach them by myself.”
Shio is self-aware of her strengths and weaknesses, and she knows how powerless she is to actually even do anything about rescuing Yuki. However, she never had, nor ever will lose hope.
Maya stared at Shio blankly. Never once had she thought that there would come a time when this soft and bubbly girl would lift Maya’s spirit.
Maya snatched her hand away from Shio—much to the latter’s shock—however, soon Shio understood the reason for such a gesture.
Maya pulled out all the cables and IV catheter before she sat on the edge of the bed.
Looking at Shio, she told her in a serious tone, “I am going to locate him, and I might get hurt in the process. However, whatever happens, until I am not dying, don’t stop me or try to wake me up. Understood?”
Shio panicked slightly, “But who will hurt you?”
Although it hurt to admit it, Maya was no narcissist, “The woman who abducted Yuki-sama is a veteran witch. I fear once I try locating Yuki-sama, she might detect my presence and lock me ‘eyes’ away.”
“Then there is a chance that she might take Yuki-sama away from the location; knowing that you have found them?”
Maya frowned. She was naive to not think about it.
Shio was correct. Although Maya could find Yuki somehow, she couldn’t teleport there without any plan and definitely not in this condition.
Maya remained silent for a moment before she suggested, “We may have to take someone’s help for this. Alone, I am not sure I can defeat that woman unless there is a distraction.”
“Then I-”
“That won’t do. That woman has some weird eye power that petrifies her enemy and locks their spells.”
Shio’s shoulders slumped upon hearing that. She really wanted to help this time…but then again, someone who fatally wounded one of the strongest first years of the Tower must be very powerful.
Shio squinted her eyes while thinking when suddenly she thought of a man, “We can ask Professor Kazuya for help? He is an S-rank and very powerful at mind games.”
Maya inhaled sharply at that. It wasn’t like she didn’t think of him, but getting indebted to him raised many alarms in her mind for some reason. She never trusted Kazuya since the beginning.
Maya was thinking of any other alternative when suddenly the doors of the hospital room calmly parted to reveal a man with familiar features,
“I think, I might be able to help.”

You miss most of the mundane things in poor health. Like a healthy nose is missed when you are sick. And Yuki was currently feeling the same sensation while having the least functioning body in possession.
“Fuck!”
With his body still not properly moving he exited the bathroom and cursed for the eighth time under his breath.
It felt like several large balls and chains were restricting his movements. He can’t even lift his arms above his shoulder height. Forget about using his skills, Yuki can’t even regulate mana through his body.
Once again, he was feeling just like that pathetic loser who had been tormented for seven long years after getting disowned by his family.
And in all honesty, Yuki hated this sensation.
“Once I escape your clutches, I am so gonna make you regret ever capturing me.” As he entered the room, he relayed a piece of his mind to the woman who previously narrated a fictional story that was written by a shitty author.
(A/N: ╥﹏╥)
“I don’t mind dying for my hero. My dream was to be your first blood bond and I succeeded in it.”
Yuki snickered at that. Seemingly this woman was a fan of that character in the story who was named Aldric. And since Yuki is the reincarnation of that being, this woman is now fanatic about him.
“Then….have you betrayed your clan? I remember you said I am a threat to your people?” As Yuki sat down on the edge of the bed, he asked casually.
He had nothing else to do, after all.
“Hmm~yep. I betrayed them. But who cares~until I have you, I won’t die~”
Yuki clicked his tongue as the woman clung to him with her eyes turned crescent.
He couldn’t move as he desired or this woman would have been lying dead on the floor by now.
‘I guess I have no other option than to wait….’
Yuki’s vacation couldn’t have turned out to be any worse than this.
