With great powers, comes a great harem! - Chapter 48- New changes?
“You weren’t hurt, right?”
“No…she just talked to me and that’s that.” Yuki initially didn’t want to tell them about the conversation he had with the redhead woman and also what transpired afterward.
However, after the dungeon news erupted across the Academy Yuki fell into deep contemplation which surely got noticed by Maya and Shio. And one thing led to another, and Yuki had to narrate the whole story.
“Yuki-sama…don’t you find something fishy here?” Maya’s doubt was not baseless. Yuki also has sensed a lot of things worth doubting that lady.
“B-But about Minoru…she wasn’t wrong tho… I heard from many people how unnatural that gate acted that day.”
Shio was aware of Minoru’s identity…or to be precise, the rumors that circulated at that time when she joined the school. Initially, she felt pity for Yuki since he had lost his only friend at that time so she began hanging out with him despite the warning from the other classmates and even their parents.
Not something she would ever let Yuki know.
Hearing Shio’s innocent response, Yuki sighed before replying with a soft smile, “It’s true that Minoru was caught in that gate but how did she know about the exact details until she wasn’t present herself there that day? And even if we assume it to be a once-in-a-million occurrence, then what about the instant example of dungeon summoning presented before my eyes?”
Maya understood his words but looking at Shio’s blank expression she had to add, “Focus Shio.”
“Hai!” Hearing Maya’s commanding tone, Shio straightened her back and trained her eyes in the blond girl’s direction.
“That woman told Yuki-sama that Dungeons can be summoned and when Yuki-sama rejected such an absurd ideology, suddenly someone showed him a live example to justify that woman’s theory. ”
Shio replied with ‘Ooo’ with a thoughtful expression, now finally understanding the reason behind Yuki’s trouble.
Though he doesn’t trust that redhead at all, it was now proven that Dungeons actually could be summoned and possibly be called off as well.
A chanter knows how to release their spell and disconnects the magic from influencing the real world. A common knowledge of sorcery so if that hooded figure desired, she could have shut down the dungeon in an instant after its emergence.
“Well, let’s not dwell on this for now. Tomorrow Nee-san is arriving and I don’t want us to look gloomy or anything.”
Maya and Shio nodded immediately. They also didn’t want to upset Amaye and gain a spot in her bad books.
Things were shelved for the time being yet Maya was concerned about something profoundly.
‘Why now…and why Yuki-sama…’ Despite how she presented herself, Maya was not going to let this slide.
****
It was early in the morning. Maya and Yuki had to attend classes today despite how they were inches close to death a day ago.
Last night, they had problems with sleeping arrangements with Yuki insisting on taking the couch while Maya said she was fine on the floor as well.
In the end, Shio firmly announced that she would sleep in the middle, and all three of them on the same bed. The bed was big enough to accommodate three sumo wrestlers so they had enough space to sleep comfortably…well it was at least true for Shio and Yuki who fell asleep right away.
“It seems you weren’t able to sleep last night. It may take you some time to get accustomed to my bed.”
All the tiredness from Maya’s demeanor was exhausted as a healthy blush dyed her face with crimson. She nearly stumbled in her steps hearing such words that suggested how her resident was going to soon get permanent with her lord.
She was no longer drowsy…
The people around the two were taking several glances at the odd duo, but only those, who didn’t have heard the word of what happened with the blond servant of Maya yesterday.
There were some rumors as well that Maya and Yuki got into some kind of serious incident recently but after Maya defended Yuki, it became apparent how Maya holds special feelings for Yuki.
Many hearts shattered and many suspicions rose. Regardless, there was nothing that bothered the two. Maya never built any deep relationship with anyone while being here that she would have to answer them.
And even if she had any friends here, nothing was above her relationship with her lord.
“Do you mind if I sit together with you, Maya?” Maya was taken aback by the sudden proposal but she found her head shaking in denial nevertheless.
“Please.” She pulled a chair for him before inviting Yuki to take the seat.
Yuki chuckled at that and accepted the offer.
Maya was practically beaming with elation and excitement at the prospectus of finally living a normal high school life with her lord.
Whether it was deliberate or she actually didn’t sense it, there was a profound aura of a certain someone in the class making it difficult for many to breathe properly.
****
At the right corner of the class, at a particular seat could be seen two figures wearing different expressions.
The third-ranked student of the first year, Ryan Willson had a severe frown contouring his features as he gazed at Maya and Yuki.
He had been hearing about their sudden closeness since yesterday and now seeing them getting all intimate out of nowhere proved those rumors to be right.
“Tone it down, Ryan. You already had planned to take things calmly.” His best friend and sparring partner, Akisu suggested to his friend since Ryan had already decided that if he wanted to win Maya, he would do it rightfully without any underhanded method.
However, the current Ryan seemed like he just wanted to rush toward Yuki and tear the guy into shreds.
“Maya is my first love, Akisu.” His heavy voice made the people around them gulp in fret as they actively tried to pretend not to see him.
In response, Akisu responded in a neutral tone, “But that doesn’t mean she belongs to you, Ryan.”
Ryan clenched his fist at that, his aura amplifying making his and the nearby desks tremble under the sheer pressure.
However, upon closer reflection of what his friend said, Ryan soon breathed a long sigh and retracted his dense aura at once.
As others breathed a sigh of relief, Ryan voiced his response in a quieter tone.
“Just as I said earlier Akisu…I am going to prove how I always deserved her even though she doesn’t accept me even after that…”
