With great powers, comes a great harem! - Chapter 46- The truth~1?
“Here, have some honey milk. It will help your body recover better. ”
Maya turned to look at Shio as she saw a tray with a glass of milk resting in the girl’s hand.
Hanging her uniform inside the cupboard Yuki gave her, Maya took hold of the glass with an almost inaudible, “Thank you.”
“No worries, rather I say, we should start looking out for each other more and get along as well from now on.”
Had Maya not overheard the earlier exchange between Shio and Yuki, Shio’s suggestion might have left her perplexed.
While Yuki harbored doubts about his relationship with Maya, Shio was advocating on her behalf. Maya found herself marveling at the depth of kindness and understanding that Shio possessed.
“Shio…can I talk to you for a minute?” Since Yuki wasn’t here at the moment, it was the best time to have this conversation. He has gone to deal with the formalities for his sister’s employment.
Hearing her words, Shio brightened up and nodded immediately, “Sure.”
Both of them walked toward the small table beside the entrance and took a seat while facing each other.
The glass of milk settled between her palms as Maya seemed a little unsure whether she should be saying this or not.
“Let it out, Maya-san. Whatever is making you uneasy, just tell me. ”
How much she acts childish and spoiled in front of Yuki from time to time, Shio is actually a mature and considerate girl, Maya noted.
It took some time, but Shio never seemed impatient before Maya finally parted her lips to confess something that had been on her mind for some time, “I don’t know how much Yuki-sama has told you about our past, Shio…but there’s a part of that story which only I know and want to tell you.”
Shio’s energetic vigor shifted to a surprised one, she remained focused nevertheless.
Being thankful for the silent response and willingness in her eyes to hear her out, Maya continued, “In the past, I had only one friend, a single person with whom I could be myself. A person whom I can openly adore and admire. It might sound shameless, but even at the age of seven I had already developed romantic feelings for Yuki-sama without even realizing my emotions, that’s why when we separated, I wasn’t able to get over that phase for a long time.”
Maya still remembers those days, when she was forcibly fed by her mother and Maya always tended to be cooped up in her room. Chanting Yuki’s name over and over, trying new spells to reach him, somehow contact him…but nothing worked.
It was the darkest chapter of her life, a time when despair consumed her, leaving an indelible mark on the psyche of a mere seven-year-old girl.
Wiping the tear that was daring to slide down her cheek, Maya concluded her story before she could become bothersome for the listener, “I have yearned for Yuki-sama. Not for years, but every day, minute and second without him, felt incomplete. Like I wasn’t myself. And now, when finally everything seems to be going back to where it was nine years ago, I feel a thorn in my heart stopping me from reuniting with my lord.”
Maya regretted saying that. She was telling all this to Shio so she could ask her permission to be with Yuki as well. Maya just wanted to follow the hierarchy and not create any feud that could cause trouble for her lord.
However, swept by her emotions, she confessed her genuine feelings which could be misunderstood by anyone.
“Shio I didn’t mean-”
“A thorn you say…a thorn of guilt? That you are going to have your share of love and I have to compromise my time with Yuki-kun?”
Maya’s eyes went slightly wide as she stared at Shio owlishly.
Accepting Maya’s silence as a yes, Shio assured the girl in a warm tone, “I know that feeling, Maya-san. Initially, when I came to realize my feelings for Yuki-kun I felt really jealous when he always used to talk about you and the past you both share. Despite being hurt, he never forgot about you, Maya-san.”
Maya’s heart skipped more than one beat hearing that. To think her lord always used to remember her…although because of hatred, she was never forgotten.
“Maya-san.” Breaking Maya’s monologic daze, Shio rested her hand on the former’s before she continued, “You shouldn’t feel burdened about your desire to be with the person you love. So please stop stressing about matters like these and keep your head up. After all, we both have to look after Yuki-kun.”

The said Yuki-kun was currently walking out of the administrative building after he finalized everything related to his sister’s employment as a stock manager in the school cafeteria.
Since Amaye was good in management and this work would pay a monthly sum worth of what she earns in a year in her current company, the deal seemed win-win. Not to talk about her safety which now Yuki himself could ensure.
‘I should text Nee-san about it and get her some help with transportation.’
Yuki has enough money in his account that he could hire good packers and movers who would help his sister with all her luggage.
However, just as he was about to scroll through his messages and tap on his sister’s log, someone called from behind.
“Kurokawa Yuki.”
His feet came to an abrupt halt, the strands on his back protruding erect at that family name attached before he replied in a death-freezing tone, “I no longer go by that name.”
*Clatter*
The sound of heels clattering against the marble floor echoed as the woman approached him from behind.
Yuki pivoted to face the unfamiliar redhead, who sported a playful grin. She approached him with an easy, confident gait.
“I know. It was just an attempt to get a reaction from you. And guess what?”
Yuki didn’t like this kind of greeting regardless of who this person was, so to wrap it up quickly, he jumped on the topic that matters, “You need me for something?”
Hearing his query, the woman took a long sigh as she halted in front of him, and allowed her emerald eyes to roam around his body for a little.
“Well, I want to ask a lot from you…but a ten-minute meeting would be enough for now.
“I am sorry but someone is waiting for me. So if you don’t mind…” Just as Yuki was about to turn on his heel and continue his journey back to his dorm, the woman once again spoke up, earning a greater reaction from Yuki this time.
“Oh, I thought I would let you know about Minoru’s killer.”
