With great powers, comes a great harem! - Chapter 45- Complicated relationships...
There were four major clans in Japan that possessed prominent military personnel, private research facilities, their central and branch guilds, and most importantly, a strong representative of the Clan.
There were many functions these four clans monitored and administrated with the Government working merely as a visage to pretend to be the center of the management.
There were various small clans and guilds spread across the country but none of them had the strength to even stand on the same stage as the higher-ups of these four pillars of Japan.
Once every year around Christmas, an annual meeting between the heads and all the important council members of the four clans join in for a celebration and general meeting. This meeting is strictly for the natives so no foreign delegates are allowed to participate.
The sole purpose of these meetings was to maintain the integration of the main support forces of Japan and keep the hierarchy ongoing.

Yuki’s birthday was also on the twenty-fifth of December and the day he would be visiting the clan for the last time.
Some days ago, he intended to announce the annulment of his engagement with Maya during the meeting for obvious reasons but now after all this happened…
‘I don’t want to end this relationship and hurt Maya any further… ‘ From what he has heard from the girl, she has been struggling to maintain a facade all this time, and when finally everything has somehow settled down, Yuki had no intention to pluck Maya away from his life.
His current feelings for the girl might be a little complicated but he no longer holds the animosity like before.
“What happened, Yuki-kun?” It was around two in the noon when Shio approached Yuki. He was sitting leisurely on the front porch while contemplating all these things.
“Nothing…come sit with me.” As he extended his hand, Shio contently took hold of it before stabilizing beside him.
Maya has gone to her room to pack her stuff and bring them to Yuki’s room. For the time being he didn’t want her to stay alone until some intel doesn’t arrive from the Karuizawa clan.
Maya seemed flustered but nodded in assent immediately. She just was following her lord’s words…which made Yuki slightly embarrassed. It would take some time for Yuki to get accustomed to this real self of that girl.
“Yuki-kun…are you nervous about the meeting?” Shio asked with her head now resting over his shoulder and fingers intertwined with his.
Unbothered by the gazes that the passerby gave them, the young couple enjoyed each other warmth in a peaceful silence before Yuki hummed with a response.
“Mmm…I would be lying to say that I ain’t a little scared of what might happen on that day, considering the people who would be present there and the type of announcement I would be making.”
True to his words, some of the greatest hunters of the era and the legendary Swordsman with the title of Sword Saint would be present there too.
Considering the changes Yuki has brought recently and the fact he has now challenged the Karuizawa clan head-on the situation has turned more difficult.
“But you don’t need to worry, Shio… I will do something about it.” Gripping her hand in reassurance Yuki spoke without allowing his tone to falter even for a moment there.
Despite his trepidation, he didn’t want to make the people he loved, concerned about him. He has always found a way through every difficult path. In the past, when he was carrying a good-as-useless trait as his primary and only strength, he never lost his hope and kept pressing forward. Now he has more than what it takes for a human to become a legend.
Another moment of serenity ensued between them and this time it was Shio who broke the silence, “Yuki-kun…are you going to marry Maya-san?”
Despite the fact she tried her best to sound casual and cool with her question, Yuki could sense through the bond they shared and also how her grip on his hand tightened, how uneasy she was at the moment.
Yuki didn’t even entertain the idea of telling her any lie here and just stated what he currently feels about his relationship with Maya.
“It isn’t like…I am totally fine with this engagement since even though Maya was acting all these times, a crack has formed between us because of that. I don’t blame Maya for it…rather I am thankful for her to keep me safe from her unstable mother. But about my engagement with her…then I am not sure where this new bond we have gotten ourselves tied to, would lead us.”
Yuki knew Maya adored him all so the same as she did back when he still was a rightful heir of the clan, but he wasn’t sure about his own feelings. And since Maya has been apart from him for this long, there was a chance that she might get disappointed by his current self…
“Yuki-kun…please don’t say such things in front of Maya-san.” Yuki raised his brows but before he could ask the reason why she said such, Shio continued, “I don’t know whether you have realized or not, but for Maya-san, you mean the world. If you ever decide to separate yourself from her, she will just…break apart.”
Turning her caramel eyes in his direction, Shio voiced out the thoughts she deemed right, “I know it would take some time Yuki-kun…but please don’t leave Maya-san alone, ever. She has no one but you whom she could regard as everything. So take your time but I request you to always be there for her, just like you do for me.”
It was astonishing to hear such mature words from someone who usually tends to remain uncaring and fun-loving. However, Yuki knew whatever Shio said was true.
He has looked into Maya’s eyes…he has gazed at the devotion she carries for him and the glimmer of hope that has ignited ever since he hugged her back in the administrator’s office.
But that was something he would soon figure out after spending some time with Maya and getting to know the phase of hers that developed over time when she was away from him. However, at the moment, Yuki was interested in discerning something else
“And are you fine with this? I mean, Maya becoming my lover, Shio?”
This was the toughest question for a person regardless of gender. While having a monogamous relationship wasn’t uncommon these days, it wasn’t like it was necessary for every man to have more than one wife and vice versa.
However, despite carrying love that could be considered simply incomparable, Shio responded to him with a smile, “Until Yuki-kun is happy, I don’t mind sharing some portion of my love with another woman…so please be rest assured, Yuki-kun.”
The way she hid her grief behind that smile and brought the brightest side to assure Yuki, made his heart clench, and before he knew Yuki was already embracing the girl.
“I am really a lucky bastard to have such a kind girl in my life…” His words were followed by a soft kiss on her head as the two remained in a warm embrace for a good while.

At the same time, Maya—who had erased her presence and heard most of the conversation had a complicated expression currently over her face.
She didn’t know what she should feel at the moment regarding this messy situation she had put Yuki and Shio in.
A major portion of her consciousness just wished to be with her lord and nothing else…yet after seeing how courageously Shio just spoke those words, it made the situation more intricate.
It wasn’t easy for a woman to allow the man they love to be with someone else. Maya knew that if she had been in Shio’s place, she couldn’t have mustered up the courage to say such words.
‘Haah…what have I done…’
Holding her bag in a tight grip, Maya looked at the sky as she found herself once again…
….all alone.

A/N:- I mean…I couldn’t have just gone with the flow and be like, ya Yuki you got a harem. Now go have seggs.
It would take some build-up, some more SOL chapters, and some action-packed steamy stuff along the path.
About Yuki’s harem then I have decided to limit at most four or at least three.
