Watching the flame dancing over my palm, I couldn’t help but chuckle with complicated emotions switching within. Just some days ago I couldn’t have thought of having a single usable spell of mine and now, not only do I have eight blessings but infinite growth potential as well.
It took me just half an hour to digest the knowledge of the book I intended to learn through my skill.
It feels like I was awakened with the trait of pyrokinesis, that kind of efficiency built inside my consciousness.
Though I could only use a simple fireball which was the size of a tennis ball, I still got a start. I have yet to try how far my fireball could reach but I have a feeling that it would seem laughable in the eyes of a true pyromancer.
‘I need to work on quality rather than quantity… ‘ I have got four months before the evaluation and going there with E-rank spells like this would be nothing short of humiliating.
Rather than focus on gaining more skills, I decided to master one element at a time for starters.
Once I get hold of it, I would make sure to congregate as many useful spells as I could.

“Leaving already, boy?”
“Ah, yeah. It’s my first day so I am taking it easy.” Just after exiting the library, I was asked by the guard standing at the library entrance.
Just by the scar on his face and the upright posture, I could tell that he was in the military and was appointed as a security guard either on his superior’s orders or for higher wages.
Seriously, the way soldiers have to risk their every minute of life on borders and have to also protect citizens at times of some high-ranking gates emerges, I thought militarians would have been paid highly by the government. But I was shocked to see that a high-ranking army officer’s monthly salary was one-tenth of an A-ranking hunter’s one raid fee.
Since the military mostly works for civilians’ safety and sometimes to delay the destruction, they weren’t appreciated as much as the hunters were, resulting in many officers leaving their job to work at companies and institutes as a guard.
Just like the man currently in front of me.
“I heard about the incident in the first year’s dorm. You are a commoner, right?”
I stiffly nodded, wasn’t sure where he was getting with all this. However, his following statement slightly startled me.
“Be aware of those noble kids, son. Most of them must be seeing you as an easy prey but I encourage you to keep your head high and surpass their depreciative expectations.”
I raised my brows hearing the high-spirited words which surely exhausted all my tiredness at once. It seems that he also belongs to a commoner family or something similar must have happened to him as well that’s why it seems he could relate to my situation.
Nevertheless, I smiled and with a bow expressed my gratitude, “Thank you, sir. I will keep it in mind.”

Each dorm room of students seems like a simple wooden cottage from the outside but in reality, the inside of the place was nothing less than a high-end apartment flat.
There were two rooms given with the main bedroom just after the entrance and the second one after the hallway. There was a bathroom with a jacuzzi, a bathtub and sauna, and a separate washroom.
And the best part of the house…
‘There’s a freakin gym inside the house… ‘ My smile couldn’t have been any more stretched than now as I looked around the place properly.
Yesterday I was too tired to explore my house but now I could tell that this place was indeed worth being called a student dorm of the renowned Tower.
“Training would help me grow my stats and those dummies would prove best in increasing my efficiency with pyrokinesis…” The reason I was able to talk loudly emerged from the fact that the students’ dorms weren’t under surveillance. And even if there were any hidden cameras, the barrier I have cast around the house would make it seem that the devices are malfunctioning.
After going through the necessities provided by the management, I sat back on the bed with the Home Base tablet-size terminal in my hand. This device was mainly given for household assistance, food delivery, and other trivial things.
Since dinner was served in each student’s room, I went through the menu.
They had most of the things one could find enticing but not as you could eat the same unhealthy food daily since the monitoring unit always keeps a look out for students’ health and acts accordingly.
If I order ramen—something I ate for lunch as well— two more times, I guess, then the cafeteria and this dinner catalog would prohibit me from eating ramen straight for a week or maybe two.
This was all written in the rules I was provided with, yesterday.
‘Strictness at its best… ‘
I sighed and ordered rice, chicken stew, two glasses of orange juice, and mango yogurt for dinner. I like sweet and sour things a lot which could be reflected in my choice of food.
Now left with no work, I decided to take a bath when suddenly my phone pinged.
“Hmm?” I took a glance at the sender before I hurriedly made my way toward the device.
It was Shio.
Shio: [I have done all my preparation. I am finally coming to see you, Yuki-kun!!]
