Chapter 30: Various Big Battles
Haruka’s sharp insight had exposed that we weren’t legally siblings, and just then, Anzu, the youngest of the triplet sisters, woke up and joined us.
“Pink hair? W-Who’s that?”
Haruka flinched, startled by Anzu’s vibrant hair color.
Even Haruka, usually so composed, was overwhelmed by Anzu’s flashy pink hair and (in many ways) impressive figure.
“…Big Brother… who’s she?”
Anzu rubbed her sleepy eyes, asking in a soft, dazed voice.
“Uh, this is my childhood friend—”
“Childhood friend?”
Anzu tilted her head curiously.
Meanwhile, Haruka’s face lit up with shock as she looked at Anzu.
“Pink hair, and what’s with those huge, beautifully shaped breasts!”
Like a melon farmer marveling at a bountiful harvest, Haruka lunged toward Anzu’s breast.
She stared at Anzu’s breasts, inches away from touching them—hey, whoa!
“Get back, Haruka! What are you doing first thing in the morning?!”
I quickly pulled Haruka’s face away from Anzu’s breast.
“B-Big Brother!? Is this person, like, dangerous or something?”
“Well…”
“Well, what, Aoto?!”
She’s totally dangerous… Getting that excited over another girl’s breasts at their first meeting, even if they’re both girls.
I felt a slight—no, a major—sense of unease at my childhood friend’s wild behavior this morning.
“But I’m starting to get it. You’re the eldest of the three sisters, right? Based on your breast size.”
“What kind of logic is that? No, she’s not.”
“Anzu is… the youngest. Of the triplets.”
“That’s right! I’m the little sister, got it!”
Momiji, in full-on rage mode, brandished a ladle over Haruka’s head as she spoke.
Oh no, those are the eyes of someone ready to kill!
“Whoa, calm down, Momiji! A-Anyway, we need to eat breakfast soon, or we’ll be late, right?”
“That’s true. Aoto-kun and Anzu, go sit at the table and wait ♡. Haruka-san, maybe you should head to school?”
“…Tch.”
The intense kaiju battle between Momiji and Haruka seemed to end in a draw (?).
“I’ll let it slide for today, but… if any of you do anything weird to Aoto, I, his childhood friend, won’t forgive you.”
With that parting shot, Haruka stormed out of the house.
I guess I should be glad we managed to steer away from the topic of our non-legal sibling relationship…?
In the end, I still had no idea why Haruka came over this morning.
“Haruka-san apparently came to make breakfast for you, Aoto-kun.”
“Huh? Haruka did?”
“I didn’t know she was really your childhood friend until just now, so I treated her like a suspicious person. Did I… do something bad?”
Momiji looked at the ladle in her hand, reflecting.
Though, it sure looked like she was about to smack someone with that ladle, or was that just me…?
“W-Well, just try to get along with her from now on. Haruka’s not a bad person. I think she was just in a bad mood today, probably.”
I trailed off, unsure.
Between yesterday’s Haruka and today’s Haruka, I wasn’t feeling too confident…
“Got it. I’ll try to get along with her from now on ♡.”
“Y-Yeah, thanks, Momiji.”
“For now, Aoto-kun, go sit over there and wait. I’ll get breakfast ready.”
Momiji headed to the kitchen, and I finally got a moment to breathe.
Well, things worked out somehow.
“By the way…”
As I started to sit at the table, Yuzuna muttered to me.
“Based on your reaction earlier, did you already know we’re not legally siblings?”
“…T-That’s!”
“So, you also knew we could technically get married?”
With Yuzuna’s sharp remark, the other two girls’ gazes locked onto me.

Chapter 31: Siblings Who Could Get Married
“You knew we’re not legally siblings, and yet you’ve been acting so normal around us?”
Yuzuna’s sharp words drew the gazes of the other two girls toward me in an instant.
Anzu, who’d been half-asleep, looked at me with concern, while Momiji, who’d brought toast and corn soup, silently stared at me.
(What do I do… Should I just be honest?)
I’d heard from Nanoka-san about the legal status with the three sisters, so I assumed they didn’t know I was aware of it…
The only one who might’ve known was Momiji, who’d been in the kitchen connected to the living room at the time. But even after that, she kept calling herself my big sister and never mentioned it.
Either way, I needed to explain properly.
I had to make it clear that I didn’t have any romantic feelings or thoughts about marriage.
If I didn’t… our sibling relationship might fall apart.
“The truth is, Nanoka-san told me you three held off on the adoption process. I knew we’re not even legally stepsiblings. I’m sorry for acting like a big brother despite knowing that!”
I poured out my sincere apology.
All I wanted was to be their brother, even if we weren’t related, living under the same roof. But that was just my ego talking—they might’ve found it annoying.
After all, to them, I was just… a former shut-in and a complete stranger.
“W-Well, it’s not like you need to apologize for that,” Yuzuna said. “What I’m trying to say is—”
“B-But! It’s true I acted like a brother without acknowledging it. I had to apologize properly—”
“No! I think Big Brother is Big Brother!”
Anzu cut me off, raising her voice louder than usual.
Anzu…?
“Uh, s-sorry! I didn’t mean to yell.”
Rarely emotional, Anzu apologized shyly but turned her gaze back to me.
“But! Big Brother has been so kind to us, not scary at all, easy to talk to, and even played games with me yesterday! We might not be siblings on paper, but if we’re living together, I want you to stay our Big Brother!”
“Anzu…”
I had no idea she felt that strongly about me.
If Anzu says that, maybe it’s okay for me to keep being their brother.
“I’m against it.”
“Huh?”
Momiji slammed the plates of toast and corn soup onto the table and fixed me with a stern glare.
I felt an overwhelming pressure, unlike her usual gentle demeanor.
“Aoto-kun…”
I swallowed hard, nervous.
Is Momiji… angry?
“You’re not going to be my big brother—you’re going to be my little brother ♡.”
“““H-Huh?”””
Just when I thought things were getting serious, Momiji’s thoughts, as always, were beyond our comprehension.
“The main reason I refused the adoption was because if Aoto-kun became my official brother on paper, I couldn’t make him my little brother. I already have two little sisters, so it’s about time I got a little brother too ♡.”
She refused adoption because she wanted a little brother? Momiji’s mindset is way too wild!!
“M-Momiji, that’s not what we’re talking about—”
“Then what are you trying to say, Yuzuna? You’ve been talking like you’re blaming Aoto-kun.”
“Tch… I…”
Yuzuna’s face flushed red as she fidgeted with the blonde hair falling over her cheek.
She seemed flustered, but what was she really trying to say, knowing we’re not legally siblings?
“W-What I’m saying is! I just wanted to know what you’d do if, while living together, you ended up liking one of us. That’s all!”
Yuzuna looked away, hiding her red face.
Oh, that’s what she meant.
“Then don’t worry, Yuzuna. I’ll make sure I don’t feel that way. I’ll keep being your brother!”
“…Ugh. No, that’s not what I meant—”
“What Yuzuna means is she wants to get all lovey-dovey with Aoto-kun, beyond sibling love, right?”
“No! That’s not it! Don’t mess around, Momiji! Get back here!”
Momiji’s teasing sent Yuzuna into a genuine rage, chasing her around like a Tom and Jerry cartoon, sparking a sisterly brawl first thing in the morning.
Being the brother to these sisters… looks like it’s going to be quite a challenge.
But I explained things properly to them, so I’ll keep doing my best as their brother.
“Oh my, how long are you all going to mess around? You’ll be late for school, and Mama will get mad!”
As I steeled my resolve, Nanoka-san came down the stairs.
“Good morning, Nanoka-san. Uh, where were you until now?”
“Good morning, Aoto-kun. I was on the phone with Kazuki-san, discussing where we should go for a family trip during Golden Week.”
“Golden Week? Family trip?”
“Kazuki-san said he’s busy with business golf during Golden Week… but he gave us permission to go wherever the five of us want!”
Nanoka-san was all excited, but a family trip with the five of us…
I’ve got a bad feeling about this…
