Chapter 30
In my relationship with Roa, from his perspective, I’m probably just a friend, maybe even a best friend. But for me, he’s the man whom I deeply adore.
Well, it’s unavoidable. After all, Roa sees me as a male. Because I’ve interacted with him as a man.
My family is one of the powerful and venerable noble houses, known as one of the “Eight Great Nobilities.” However, our family is under a curse. Even if a girl is born into our family, she must be raised as a boy until adulthood, and this must not be revealed externally.
Some might find this absurd, but the curse is real. If not followed, our family would suddenly decline.
We know this because once, taking the curse lightly and raising a girl as a girl led to our downfall. We nearly lost our noble status due to the gradual decline. That’s why our family is particularly sensitive about this curse.
As luck would have it, I was born a girl in such a family. If I were a boy, everything would have been straightforward, just raising me normally.
But fortunately, my mother understands this pain, having been born into this family and raised as a boy herself.
My mother is a remarkable person. She loves my father wholeheartedly and lives her life thinking only of him. It wouldn’t be an exaggeration to say that everything she does is for my father.
I haven’t really talked much with my father. He is completely absorbed in my mother’s love, seeing nothing but her. Even I, his daughter, might be outside of his awareness.
Witnessing my parents’ mutual love, I too dreamed of having a future like theirs. It’s only natural, considering I’m carrying on my mother’s legacy. It seems everyone in our family lineage has been like this: devoting themselves entirely to one person, casting aside everything else for that single individual.
Our house has prospered with the sole goal of living a peaceful, comfortable life with the one we love. That’s why, as my mother said, we are a family driven mad by love.
“Aria-san, do you really have no idea where Roa is?”
“…Yes, unfortunately. Despite our best efforts, we haven’t been able to locate Roa-sama. It must be the culprit who made us like this who took him away. That’s why, as soon as we find him, I plan to crush them with my own hands.”
The woman in front of me, known as the Saintess, says this with a sad expression, but it’s hard to know what she’s truly thinking.
“…Then, may I help you search for Roa?”
“…Excuse me?”
“I mean, you’re also searching for Roa, right? So, I think if I help, we might find Roa faster.”
Hearing this, Aria seems to ponder the offer.
“…Why are you so concerned about Roa-sama?”
“It’s obvious. Roa is my best friend. Besides, after what happened to Roa… it’s unreasonable not to think that the kidnapper might still be treating him terribly, just like you girls did.”
As I say this, she nods thoughtfully and responds,
“Very well. Let’s cooperate with each other then.”

[Postscript]
Hello, I’m Kanikui.
Out of Aria, Ellie, Mia, and Lilia, who do you like the most? This question isn’t directly related to the main story, but I’d appreciate your comments. It might help me decide on a short story to gift from Santa-Kanikui for Christmas.
Also, I’m releasing「彼女さえも裏切って来たので、女性不振になりました」a remake of a previously deleted work. I hope for your continued support for this work and others to come.
