Chapter 29
I thought I would finally get to go outside after so long, but the condition they set was that I had to be blindfolded.
After Ellie left the room and called Mia, Aria, and Lilia, they discussed and decided…
“Make sure you hold my hand tightly, okay? You might fall otherwise.”
“Yeah. Leave it to your Lilia-oneechan. I won’t let you trip or get hurt, I promise.”
“You’ll be just fine, Roa-sama. There’s no way I’d let you get hurt. Trust me, I’ll take care of you.”
The whispering of these girls in my ears sends chills down my spine. I still can’t get used to their physical affection, involuntarily tensing up my body.
While I wonder why I find them so frightening, for now, I decide to simply be happy about getting to go outside. Led by Lilia-oneechan and Aria, I walk slowly like a toddler, gripping their hands tightly, unable to see anything and feeling anxious, but having no choice but to trust them.
Then, they also grip my hands tightly back… but I can’t help fearing they might suddenly turn violent. Trying to suppress my trembling heart, I finally feel relieved when my vision returns after a few minutes, and I collapse on the spot, utterly exhausted.
“A-Are you okay, Roa-kun? Can you stand?”
“Don’t worry, Roa, I’m here for you.”
Saying that, they extend their hands to me, and I gently grab them to slowly stand up. Looking around anew, I find myself in a spacious guest room, furnished with bookshelves and some games. It seems the place where I’m confined is quite extensive.
Perhaps Aria acquired and renovated a derelict building to raise orphans, or it could be a house built on land owned by Lilia-oneechan’s family.
Mia, being a commoner like me, doesn’t have the wealth or power to own such a place, despite her proficiency in magic. And Ellie… well, it’s not impossible that she was given this as a research facility by the government, but she tends to avoid hassle, so it doesn’t seem likely she would accept such a large mansion.
“Roa-kun, for now, we can only let you out in this room, but wait a little longer, and you’ll be able to go to even larger spaces.”
“I’m sorry, Roa-sama, for making you feel confined.”
Aria and Lilia bow their heads.
I understand they are just desperately concerned about me, and I know that complaining won’t change anything. I don’t want their worries to be in vain, so I can only nod in agreement.
Still, I wonder, how much longer will I be confined here?
