- Chapter 84- For the future~1
“I am sorry to make you both worried. If not for me, this commotion would not have occurred.” In the living room, four people currently sat and amongst them, the beautiful female with emerald eyes could be seen bowing her head.
Rena and Masato panicked hearing such a pitiful voice, and given that Emiko was still sick, for her to apologize like this made them even more guilty.
However before they could say anything to comfort Emiko, Haruki—who was sitting beside her—also bowed his head, “I also apologize for not being attentive towards the security, and because of us, you guys had to return in a rush.”
Rena glanced at Masato in a panic and telepathically told him to do something about this situation.
Masato nodded to her before he called out to the two, “If you keep bowing like this then we won’t be able to continue this conversation. So please, raise your head.”
Haruki and Emiko slowly straightened their backs before Masato continued, “There were no such problems for us to return today. Rather we would have been anxious if we hadn’t returned today despite knowing that you two are in trouble.”
“Right! Family should look out for each other, so how can you expect us to just remain still and not take any actions?” Rena added in a vigorous tone.
When they heard that news reports had barged inside the house and Haruki even confronted one of them, Rena was inches away from having an anxiety attack.
Masato didn’t think twice before booking a cab and traveling back to Tokyo with his wife.
“Rena-san…don’t you blame me?” Emiko had tears in her eyes as she looked at the woman whose beloved brother might have to face danger because of what happened today.
Rena’s lips extended in a defeated smile as she moved forward and hugged Emiko’s face in her bosom. Tenderly caressing the silly one’s back, Rena assured,
“It’s not ‘you’ or ‘me’. It’s only us now, Emi-chan. What happened was never your mistake and even if it was, we all would face the consequences together…as a family. So stop burdening yourself.”
Emiko sniffed in the embrace and felt her heart turning heavier than ever. It was true that she felt guilty about putting Haruki through all this, but this was the only way to have him back with her.
But now, being consoled and encouraged by Rena and Masato made Emiko feel extremely bad. She was…taking advantage of their innocence.
But Emiko was far from being ready to tell the truth. This time she might really lose her Haru-kun.
And Emiko was against it with all her heart.
Sensing that Emiko had calmed down, Rena pulled back and was about to suggest something about dinner when suddenly her husband raised a concerning matter.
“What have you decided about your residence? It pains me to say this, but living here would only cause trouble to you.” Masato liked to have Emiko around. It made him feel that he had gained a little sister who had a very close connection with Rena.
However, as he said, with Emiko staying here no one would be able to live their life normally unless they are prepared to go through physical confrontations regularly to ward off the media.
Emiko didn’t reply to that and glanced at Haruki.
Haruki held her hand and decided to answer in her stead…or more like ask them,
“Nee-san…Masato-san, I know this might be a little too sudden but can I continue to live with Emiko just like before?”
Rena was genuinely surprised as she made a strange ‘eh’ sound.
Masato also raised his brows, seemingly not expecting Haruki to change his mind so suddenly.
Rena was about to agree immediately but Masato stopped her and asked Haruki, “…and with what relationship?”
Haruki and Emiko broke off recently, and the reason wasn’t divulged to anyone. And in the news channel, Haruki openly declared that he and Emiko are engaged.
That’s why their current relationship was pretty complicated.
Haruki showed uncertainty and confusion clouded his expression. However, this confusion didn’t originate from not being able to understand Masato’s question. It was more like he couldn’t form any certain response to that.
Masato inhaled deeply before voicing what he felt, “Haruki….before today, when you guys were in a relationship and when you two broke up—both phases remained a secret from the media. But now, if you don’t remain involved with Emiko-san and something like what happened almost a month ago, again happens and you decide to break up with her….you both have to face severe consequences. Some ugly questions and allegations would fly toward you both on a regular basis.”
Taking a pause he added, “Although repulsively, you have announced yourself as a very integral part of her life….and I think it’s time for you to man up and take responsibility.”
Haruki’s eyes were a little wide since he never actually thought of what the older one just informed him.
It was true that he made that announcement under the influence of adrenaline but never considered what consequences it may bring.
Masato glanced at both youngsters before he took hold of his still-confused wife and urged her to get up, “Let’s go Rena. They need to think through this on their own now.”
“Ah…ok.” Although still unsure of what her husband said to Haruki, Rena followed her husband’s lead and walked inside the bedroom; leaving the two teenagers in the living area.
Haruki remained silent for several minutes and so did Emiko.
However, Haruki knew, he had to take the initiative and resolve this situation.
Taking a deep breath, he turned toward Emiko.
