- Chapter 70- The memories~1
Darkness was all I could see once my consciousness from the real world detached.
My body was no longer stinging from the sensation of bullets as I floated somewhere in the confines of this abyssal darkness.
‘Is this afterlife…did I really die?’ There was only this conclusion I could come up with, given my current condition.
I have been consciously thinking about what just happened and what Emiko-san wanted to tell me…means this wasn’t a dream.
‘Emiko-san must be crying right now…’ Thinking about her, I felt sad.
From the looks of it, it seems, the assailant was there to attack Emiko-san…which makes me think about what would have happened if that assailant had caught Emiko-san when she was alone.
The thought made me shudder as I thanked the God for allowing me to protect the girl I liked.
‘Now that I think about it…’ My plans to confess my feelings for Emiko-san remained pending until the end…and now, I would never be able to convey my feelings for her.
Although only two or so months have passed since we met, Emiko-san has become a very significant and irreplaceable part of my life.
Her role in my life has become so prominent that when we stayed apart, I still felt Emiko-san was around me. Like that time, when she had to stay at her office overnight, the next day I entirely forgot to have breakfast even though I know how to cook.
She has made me dependent on her in many ways…and yet, it didn’t feel wrong. Like, if it’s Emiko-san then it was alright to get pampered a little.
I always wondered why, such a caring, good-looking, and wonderful person at heart would date someone like me.
And just when she was about to confess the truth…this happened.
‘Haah…I wonder if there is a way to look into her memories…’
Maybe God heard my last wish before throwing my soul into an endless void, as suddenly blinding brightness covered my surroundings; urging me to cover my eyes with my arms.

“Huh?!” I suddenly parted my eyes in disbelief as I heard the sound of water dripping nearby.
I parted my lips and was met by a face I was extremely familiar with.
It was none other than myself!
‘Damn…is this some kind of flashback…’ I was currently floating around the person who looked just like me and by that uniform he was wearing I know it was a memory of my past self who used to work as a food delivery partner.
‘But this place…do I have a fond memory of this place?’Looking around, I found that the small apartment flat had only one floor. I have delivered orders to many places in the past, that’s why I couldn’t remember what relation I have with this place.
“Hey, can you see me?” I waved my hand in front of my past self, but as it seemed I was just a wandering soul in this dream and couldn’t be seen by my past self.

Suddenly, the door clicked open before a young girl appeared from the other side.
‘Hmm?’ My brows raised as I wasn’t able to see her face…or more like her face was illuminated with blinding light—making it impossible for me to look at her features despite how much I tried.
But it seemed my past self didn’t have a problem looking at her, as he extended the package, “Thank you for ordering from LimenDine. Here is your food.” From the way I offered those words, it was clear that this person was nothing but a regular customer of the restaurant where I work.
“Why…I mean, the restaurant could have canceled the order no? Uh, please come in first. You must be freezing.”
Given how heavily it was raining I could understand the concern of the girl. And it seems she either was familiar with me or was too kind to let a near stranger in her house.
My past self looked a little shy but he didn’t resist her offer and slowly walked inside,
“There have been very few orders at the restaurant these days, that’s why canceling an order at these times…” I frowned hearing those words from me.
The restaurant I used to work in always remained brimming with people for some reason despite it being located at a very isolated location. Not to talk about, this meeting and this kind girl from my past…I couldn’t remember any of this.
‘These are my memories right…?’
I didn’t have the time to contemplate my doubts as I heard my past self introducing himself,
“I am Hayashi Haruki, by the way.” As I entered her house, I introduced myself.
I was anticipating hearing the name of the girl from my past, whom I had entirely forgotten despite having a good connection with.
However, nothing in this world could have prepared me for what was about to come.
Just as the girl turned to look at me, the brightness from her face slowly began to recede and along with her face, I got to know her name as well…
“Nice to meet you, Haruki-kun. Myself, Harada Emiko.”

A/N:- I know, the chapter was short but adding another scene felt the focus of the chapter would be diverged. Anyway, I hope you guys are enjoying the story so far.
