When My Younger Brother Stole My Girlfriend, I Began Living Together with My Beautiful Childhood Friend Almost As If We Were Married - Chapter 50
Chapter 50: The Beginning of Feasting
Even in this summer season, Omicho Market was bustling with activity.
Delicious-looking seafood was lined up, and many customers were coming and going.
“Amazing!”
“Yeah. Oh! Reina, look at that!”
“Oysters! They look delicious!”
“…Hehehehe~”
Somehow, Fuyuka-san already bought and was eating oysters. And it’s an incredible amount!
In her left hand, there was miso soup, while in her right hand, there were three dishes of oysters: one with oysters cooked with butter and soy sauce, another with simply grilled oysters, and fried oysters.
With skillful balance, she alternated between savoring oysters and miso soup.
“She acts fast…”
“Sister seems to be enjoying it the most.”
One might say she’s the one who started it all.
Then, with even more dexterous movements, Fuyuka-san managed to take out her wallet and, despite her hands being full, pulled out money and handed it to us.
“Hohoehehe~”
“Please swallow what’s in your mouth before speaking…”
“Mnggh. They don’t accept credit cards at that shop, so I bought it with this.”
So, we graciously accepted money from Fuyuka-san.
Then, attracted by the irresistible smell of grilled oysters that had been tempting passersby all this time, we went to the sinful shop and ordered grilled oysters with butter soy sauce for two.
Freshly grilled hot oysters were asserting their existence right in front of us.
The aroma made my throat gulp involuntarily.
“Well then, let’s dig in…!”
“Yeah! Itadakimasu!”
Reina and I simultaneously brought the oysters to our mouths.
As we bit into them, the rich taste of the sea spread out, complemented by the salty and mellow butter soy sauce, filling our mouths. This is…!
“”Delicious!””
Oysters are really delicious after all! The name ‘milk of the sea’ isn’t just for show, and I think this taste, packed with the essence of the sea itself, is something you just have to try once when you’re near the ocean.
I’m completely absorbed in eating oysters.
Though it’s only two pieces per serving, it’s not nearly enough. I feel like I could eat them endlessly.
“Oysters… are the best…!”
“Yeah, seriously. Oysters are so good…”
“The oysters were delicious, weren’t they~. Mhmm.”
…Fuyuka-san, are you eating something again?
I look over and see her enjoying boiled hairy crabs she must have found somewhere.
She’s busy with shellfish and oysters. She’s truly living up to her reputation as someone who loves to eat.
It’s funny how seeing someone else eating makes you want to eat too. I’m starting to feel curious about the crab.
Since we’re here, I thought I might as well try some crab too…
“Hayato~ Here, have this.”
Reina returns from somewhere, maneuvering through the crowd, holding a tray with something like slices of fish.
“I found something called ‘yellowtail sashimi,’ so I bought it! Let’s eat it together!”
“Oh, yeah. Thanks!”
Reina has also found something delicious. She lightly pours ponzu sauce over the slices and lifts them with chopsticks.
“Here, ahh~”
I thought she would eat it herself, but she surprised me by feeding me.
It’s a little embarrassing to eat in front of so many people unlike at home, but I appreciate Reina’s kindness and accept the offered slice.
The taste of yellowtail, combined with the refreshing ponzu sauce, spreads over my tongue.
“Is it good?”
“It’s amazing! Reina, try some too. Ahh~”
“Huh!? That’s embarrassing~”
She says that, but she’s eating the offered slice with enthusiasm. It must be delicious. Reina’s expression brightens noticeably.
And Fuyuka-san, please stop opening canned coffee in the background.
After finishing the yellowtail sashimi, we resumed exploring the market.
This place is filled with fruits, meats, clothes, sweets, and everything else imaginable. Even just looking around is enjoyable.
Maybe we should stop by the souvenir shops too, although it’s a bit early for that. Well, I hadn’t really thought about who I’d buy souvenirs for anyway.
I guess I’ll just share them with Shinohara and Amamiya and the others. I think the souvenirs we’ll buy are mainly for us to enjoy at home.
You know, like these tai chazuke (left-over rice and sea bream) or the grilled gizzard shad furikake. Things like that.
These are similar to what they were selling at Kanazawa Station, so for now, we’re just looking.
“So…”
“Yeah?”
“Fuyuka-san, are you eating again?”
“Sister has an incredible appetite…”
“Can’t help it when you see it.”
While I wasn’t paying attention, she bought a bunch of freshly made grilled fish cakes nearby.
It seems like there are a lot of soft serves and traditional sweets near Kenrokuen Garden, our next destination, and we plan to visit the tea district too, so we’ll probably eat a lot there too.
But, since we’re here, both Reina and I decide to each get a fish cake. Yeah, it’s delicious.
“Well then. Shall we go soon?”
“Eh, already? We haven’t walked down that street yet.”
“I know this place is fun, but I really want to go to Kenrokuen soon.”
“If Reina says so…”
Though Fuyuka-san still seems like she could eat more, she agrees to change our destination to the next place.
Leaving Omicho Market behind, we head towards our next destination, Kenrokuen Garden.
