When I was Reincarnated into a Game World, I Was a Farmer’s Son - Chapter 55
Chapter 55
On the second day after arriving in Dasunza, after we had breakfast at the inn’s dining hall, we head to the Commercial Guild to get my identification card.
We walked a few minutes from the inn to the central area of the city. The central area is a large square with a fountain at its centre. The square is full with stalls and shops, bustling with people. It feels like a festival from my previous life.
This seems to be a typical scene in Dasunza, but I heard that Sains is even more crowded and lively than here.
As for the fountain in the square, there is a statue depicting a goddess in the middle of it. It is an enchanting and alluring statue of a woman, exuding both the sense of sensuality and divinity.
The statue depicts Lugus, the Earth Goddess, one of the final bosses.
In every big town of Eldor kingdom, you will always find such a magnificent fountain in the centre of the town. It’s exactly as I have seen in the game.
After passing through the town square and walking for a while, I noticed two buildings that stands out prominently in the town.
I realized that the Commercial Guild, our destination, is a four-story building, while right next to it is the Adventurers Guild. The Adventurers Guild has a lot of people coming in and out, I can tell in a glance that most of them are adventurers. They all are wearing in various types of light and heavy armour and armed with weapons.
On the other hand, there aren’t many people coming in and out of the Commercial Guild. Me and uncle go inside the Commercial guild, and inside the spacious lobby, there are only a few people here.
There is a reception desk at the back of the lobby.
Uncle goes to the reception desk to complete the procedure for issuing my identification card. After finishing the process, we are guided to one of the several doors and entered a small room.
The room resembles a small meeting room, with simple chairs and a desk. It seems that a brief interview is required for me by the guild staff in charge for issuing my identification card.
As Uncle and I sit in the chairs and wait, a person who appears to be a staff comes inside the room. I recognized him immediately—he is one of the companions who had accompanied the lord’s officials on the investigation of Murasaki Disease in Machikane Village.
Then he interviews me with simple and general questions such as, ‘what is your name’ and ‘how old are you’.
After the interview is over, the staff said that there should be no problem with issuing my ID card and that it will be issued by today.
As I’m about to leave the room, the staff calls out to me. It seems like he remembers me.
“It may be tough for you with everything going on, but hang in there and do your best.”
He also told that they had conducted investigations in several villages and towns besides Machikane village, and out of all those places, my family’s farm has suffered the most from the Murasaki disease.
I thank him and leave the Commercial Guild. The process finished quicker and I expected, even my uncle is surprised everything went so smoothly. Perhaps the staff earlier had made the procedure easier for me.
After I had my interview, me and uncle return to the inn and have lunch together. Then my uncle says that he needs to meet his business partner after this.
Well, what should I do now?
My uncle told me that as long as I stay away from back alleys and don’t go too far from the inn, it should be fine for me to go out. It seems that Dasunza City has relatively good public safety.
Since I have the chance, maybe I should walk around the city, I’ll only be here for a few more days after all.
Hmm, let’s see…where should I go. Ah, that’s right, that town square I passed earlier seems to be a good place. There are a lot of things being sold there, I should take a look at them and see what I can find using my Appraisal skill.
I tell the innkeeper that I’ll be going out. He wishes me to take care and come back safely. With that, I leave the inn and make my way to the town square.
There are a lot of people on the streets, so I walk slowly, being careful not to accidentally bump into anyone.
Ah, Dasunza is truly beautiful.
Dansunza’s townscape reminds me of western towns that I’ve seen in my previous life. Well, I had never been abroad in my previous life, so I only seen western townscapes in movies and videos.
Not only in this world, but in most of the games I’ve played, despite being mostly created by Japanese developers, the in-game world often adopts a Western-inspired setting.
When it comes to fantasy, I suppose the default scene tends to be associated with Europe or the Western world, right?
The walls surrounding Dasunza are amazing, the buildings in the city are magnificent. Now I understand why dad said ‘towns are really cool’.
“I wonder what Yuichi would say if he sees this.”
In his past life, my only son developed a passion for archaeology and eventually became a university professor in the field. He is also a huge fan of fantasy games.
I can’t help but imagine how delighted Yuichi would be if he’s here. With those thoughts in mind, I make my way to the square.
