When I was Reincarnated into a Game World, I Was a Farmer’s Son - Chapter 54
Chapter 54
The town of Danzunza is incredibly beautiful.
Even though the buildings here seem old and historical, the buildings are all arranged evenly throughout the city, it seems that the town layout had been planned and built in a well-divided area when it was constructed. It is truly a magnificent sight.
There are so many people here.
As the carriage moves slowly through town, I look around, observing the bustling crowd. Among the people in the streets, I noticed that there are some people with animal-like ears on their heads.
Oh! They’re Beastmen! Some of them even have tails. They actually have fierce-looking faces, but for some reason, they seem cute to me.
There are a lot of races in the game. However, there were no races other than humans in Machikane Village, and I didn’t come across any race besides humans in the villages and towns between Northern and Danzunza either. That’s why I wasn’t sure if Beastmen exists in this world
In the game, there is a country of Beastmen called Galbaut, most of the Beastmen in this world lives there. Those Beastmen who leave Galbaut are often adventurers or migrant workers, but in the end, all Beastmen will definitely to return to Galbaut.
My uncle also told me the same thing. Beastmen apparently have a strong sense of love for their country, that’s why all of them eventually will return to their homeland. By the way, Galbaut, the country of the beastmen, serves as the setting for the sequel to ‘Demna Senki’ called ‘Demna Senki 2’ which the protagonist is also a Beastmen.
After continuing down the city main road for a while, my uncle stops the carriage near the centre of the city.
“All right! We’ve arrived. We’ll stay at this inn for a few days. I’ll rent a wagon yard so that we can put our wagon there. Neil, you just wait here.”
Uncle gets off the coachman’s seat and opens the door of the building in front of us before entering inside.
The building is three stories high, and although it seems smaller from the front compared to the other buildings, the building seems to expand towards the back, making it a rather large structure. There is a hanging sign above the door that reads ‘Twilight Inn’.
Not long after, uncle return to the carriage and move it to the back of the inn. Following uncle through a different entrance from earlier, we enter the building. While the exterior of the inn is made of stone, the interior is made of wood, surprisingly, it’s quite spacious inside.
In the game, inns were not just regular accommodations for resting, but it is a rather mysterious facility where staying for a night would fully restore your health and cure any status ailments, no matter what they were.
I’m not sure if it works that way in this world as well. I should ask uncle about it.
“Uncle, does staying in inns for a night would fully restore our health and cure any disease?”
Uncle looks at me as if I’m saying something strange.
“If inns had such powers, they would make a fortune.”
In the early stages of the game, inns are frequently used for restoring health. Every town the protagonist goes to always have inns. However, the interior design of the inns is quite similar everywhere.
This inn is no exception. The first floor serves as a dining hall and reception area, while the second and third floors are the guest rooms. The interior design of this inn is exactly the same as what I remember seeing in the game.
Uncle is taking care of the check-in procedure for us, he seems to be having a lively talk with the receptionist. The receptionist appears to be the owner of this inn, and it turns out that he and Uncle are old friends. Whenever Uncle came to Dansunza for business, he always stays in this inn. Apparently, uncle is able to stay here at a great discounted price because of the owner is his old friend.
Moreover, since it’s past the peak season and there are many empty rooms, they decided to let me stay for free.
We arrived at Dansunza around noon, so Uncle and I decided have lunch at the inn’s dining hall. There is no menu in the dining hall, as they serve daily specials. For lunch, we had steamed fish, soup, and bread. The flavours are a bit bland, but the portions are quite big, so I’m satisfied.
While having lunch, Uncle and I discussed our plans for the future.
This time, Uncle plans to stay in Dansunza for a week. He intends to spend the week to conduct business with several of his trading partners in Dansunza. However, he will also check and discuss with each trading partner if there is an opportunity for me to join them if they are planning to go to the Marwell County capital, Sains.
Depending on their schedule, it’s possible that I go to Sains immediately. Therefore, starting the day after tomorrow, I need to be prepared to head to Sains at any time and patiently wait for Uncle.
The plan for the day after tomorrow is to go to the Commercial Guild with Uncle. We are going there to request the issuance of my identification card.
At the Commercial Guild, they issue identification cards for people on the condition that a guild member can guarantee and prove their identity.
The reason that I need to get my own identification card is because if uncle can’t find any business partner that that is planning to go to Sains when he is here, he plans to request the Adventurer’s Guild to assign an adventurer to escort me to Sains.
While the adventurer’s guild card can also serve as an identification card, its credibility is lower compared to the one issued by the Commercial Guild. This is because anyone can obtain an adventurer’s guild card by paying a small fee and passing a simple examination.
Of course, it is not the same case if it’s a high-ranking adventurer’s guild card. However, when it comes to hiring adventurers in the class that commoners can afford, it seems that the identification card from the Commercial Guild carries higher credibility in many cases.
Sains, the capital city of the Marwell County ruled by Count Schuften, has stricter security measures compared to Dasunza. Uncle suggested that in order to avoid being detained at the Sains city entrance, it would be best to have a highly credible identification card, which is why he plans to obtain one for me from the Commercial Guild.
There is one more service that commercial guilds offers, they provide savings and inter-guild member account transfer. So basically, it’s like a bank in my previous life. Uncle told me about this when we were discussing our financial situation for the future.
To be honest, in the game, there was no limit to the amount of money you could carry, so there was no benefit to depositing it, and I don’t remember there are money transfer system in the game.
Well after all, in the game, there’s probably no one for the protagonist to send money to.
It’s a mystery how they handle the money transfers, but it’s convenient that we can easily send money using this service.
I heard that Dad also has a Commercial Guild identification card, as Uncle guaranteed and proved his identity. So, I will be able to send money to dad in the future.
When it comes to the expenses for hiring an adventurer to escort me to Sains, my uncle will cover for it first, then mom and dad will pay uncle later when he gets back.
I actually planned to go to Sains alone, but Dad and Mom strongly opposed it.
I don’t know the standard fee for hiring adventurers, but considering it takes about a month from Dansunza to Sains, it definitely won’t be cheap.
Both Mom and Dad don’t have much money, so they will have to borrow from Uncle.
However, neither Mom nor Dad is willing to compromise on this condition. They say if I insist going to Sains alone, they won’t even let me leave the house.
But it hurts to see how much they worry about me, so I decided to listen to what my parents say and go to Sains with an adventurer as my escort. I’ve also caused a lot of trouble for Uncle. I definitely need to repay them someday.
After finishing lunch, Uncle said he’s going to meet a friend in town and ask if I want to come along. However, I declined and decided to rest in my room.
I enter the room and lay down on the bed.
The journey so Sains is really far, will I be able to arrive there safely? Will I be able to join the Knights and make a good living? Will I be able to repay Mom, Dad, and the people who have taken care of me?
Since leaving Northern town, these worries keep coming into my mind.
I’m really tired, I don’t want to think about such things anymore.
I close my eyes and let the fatigue of my body lull me into sleep.
