When I was Reincarnated into a Game World, I Was a Farmer’s Son - Chapter 53
Chapter 53
My journey with my uncle to Dasunza is going very smoothly.
My uncle told me that he often travels to Dansunza, but he mostly travelled alone, so having someone to travel with him like this is enjoyable for him.
During the journey, we had plenty of time to kill, so my uncle told me various stories.
He told me stories about Dansunza town, which we are heading to, the Marwell county, the capital city, and how he and my aunt first met, as well as discussions about their business.
Among those stories, the discussion about the neighbouring country of Eldor kingdom, the Laphcadia Empire, caught my interest. It’s the birthplace of the protagonist.
“A merchant friend of mine told me that the Murasaki disease is spreading quite widely, and it’s not looking good.”
The laphcadia Empire is often mentioned throughout the game, from what my uncle told me, it matches the description from what I know from the game.
However, what caught my attention more is the discussion about the impact of the Murasaki Disease.
As mentioned by the officials who visited Machikane Village before, the Murasaki Disease has spread throughout the entire Laphcadia Empire, significantly affecting the nation’s food shortage.
Since the Laphcadia Empire and the Eldor Kingdom have established diplomatic relations, there seem to be a help where the kingdom supports the empire by providing a portion of its food reserves.
Additionally, due to the increase in food prices caused by the food shortage in the empire, some merchants from the kingdom have started transporting food to the empire, viewing it as a business opportunity.
In a few years, a cruel turning point is expected to occur for the protagonist. That will mark the beginning of the story. It will also mark the start of my progress to reclaim my farmland to live a peaceful farmer’s life in Machikane village.
I hope the protagonist can persevere and overcome his cruel fate.
After a few days, we passed through the plains, crossed several small mountains, and finally arrived at the first village since we left Northern town.
In the village, we replenished our water and food supplies and quickly left to head towards the next village. After passing through several villages and towns, our two-week journey is coming to an end.
“Neil-kun! That’s the town of Dasunza.”
Uncle points out a wall that can be seen several kilometres ahead. It seems to be the wall surrounding the town of Dansunza, and it appears to be quite tall.
As we approach the city, the number of people passing by gradually increased. To put it simply, it’s bustling here.
I look up at the stone wall in front of me and got amazed by its size. It must be at least 15 meters tall. A large amount of evenly cut stones are stacked together, creating a magnificent and strong wall. I’m truly amazed at the sight of it, I have never seen such a structure even in my previous life. It truly feels like something out of a fantasy world.
There are several entrances to the city, and all of them have checkpoints where city guards conduct inspections.
There seems to be a separate entrance exclusively for nobles, but apart from that, anyone can enter from any checkpoint, so we decided to head to the nearest checkpoint. We line up behind a queue of people waiting for inspections, with our wagon.
When it’s our turn, Uncle hands the security guard a guild-issued identification card. It seems that small children like me can enter without an identification card as long as their companions have proper identification.
We pass through the entrance and enter the city. The main street is bustling with many people, the atmosphere here is very lively. It couldn’t be seen from outside the wall, but Dasunza is quite big.
“So how is it, Neil? Your first time in Dasunza town.”
“It’s even bigger than I’ve expected. I’m really surprised.”
“Sains is even much bigger than Dasunza, you’ll even be more amazed when you get there.”
My uncle said so while chuckling.
