When I was Reincarnated into a Game World, I Was a Farmer’s Son - Chapter 52
Chapter 52
For camping, we first make fire so that we can cook food for us to eat, it’s actually really simple, we just need to gather some stones and place it around the fire making a donut shape.
Then we put a few logs from the cart in the middle of the stones and gather dried grass from the plains. By the way, I’m the one who gathered all the grass. Then uncle ignited the dried grass to create ember.
We use the fire for meal preparation and keeping us warm throughout the night. Even though it’s past spring at this time of the year, the nights are still quite cold.
As for our0020meal, my uncle already prepared for it. He filled a pot with a small amount of water and salt, then placed dried meat and a few vegetables into it to make a stew. We soak rock-hard bread, which is meant for long-term storage, in the soup to soften it before we eat it.
If my sense of taste from my previous life remained the same, the flavour would be too bland for me, but I have grown accustomed to bland foods. Of course, nothing beats good food and I still really want to eat some meat.
However, there’s something else that concerns me, so I ask my uncle about it while we are eating.
“Hey, uncle. How do you learn to use magic?”
The reason for my question is because I saw my uncle using magic when he ignited the fire earlier. It reminded me of a while ago when my mother said.
‘When you get a little older, you’ll be able to use magic too.’
“Huh? You haven’t heard it from Mylene and Doug?”
When I said that mom and dad never told me about it, my uncle explained it to me.
In simple terms, uncle said that anyone will be able to use magic if they receive the divine revelation from the god of the Dagda religion. So that means in order to use magic, I will need to go to the church and check on my status.
So, when Mom said, ‘When you get a little older’ she meant when I turned 10 and after I receive the divine revelation ritual. Well, even if I knew about it, I don’t think I would have gone to the church as well.
When I asked my uncle for more details, it seems that the magic my uncle and Mom used is called ‘daily life magic’ but generally, it’s not considered as real magic.
All the spells in daily life magic are really weak in power. For example, water magic can produce only a single drop of water in a day. Other elemental magic spells are similar, mostly useless, except for the fire magic that can ignite fires.
Generally, what is considered as real magic are powerful attack spells or healing spells, the kind of magic that was usable in games and is commonly recognized as magic in society.
Most people who receive the divine revelation can only use daily life magic, but those who have talent can use real magic. But it seems that most of the people with that talent are born into noble families.
There was no concept of daily life magic in the game.
I feel quite disappointed that I missed my chance to learn magic, it would be incredibly useful to be able to use daily life magic, especially to start fires.
Even if I, at the age of 11, were to go to the church now, I wouldn’t be able to receive the divine revelation for free, I already missed my chance. It would cost a significant amount of money if I want to receive the divine revelation. Well, it can’t be helped, I guess I’ll just have to give up on magic.
