When I was Reincarnated into a Game World, I Was a Farmer’s Son - Chapter 42
Chapter 42
The Firewood gathering went smoothly as planned. After two months of work, the knights and lumberjacks leave Machikane Village. Even after I rejected the offer to become a knight apprentice from Goti, I continued to assist with the firewood gathering until its completion.
There weren’t any major issues during it, but I started to receive more attention from the knights and got along really well with Adol in particular. We began talking more frequently.
By the way, Adol even came to me for relationship advices. But, why did he ask a ten years old farmer boy for relationship advices!? What was he thinking!? It seems like Adol is quite naïve after all.
Despite the ups and downs, the visit of the knights and lumberjacks to Machikane Village turned out to be a valuable experience for me. On top of that, I got plenty amount of meat from it!
Speaking of meat, when they were about to leave the village, one of the lumberjacks gave me a knife he used for butchering monsters. It’s quite worn out and it’s in rough shape, but with some sharpening, it should still be usable.
Now I can butcher the monsters that I hunt and get some monster meat on my own! I really want mom and dad to have too, but it’s difficult to find the right timing to come out and tell them that I’ve been fighting monsters in the forest. There’s a good chance they’ll tell me to stop from doing it because it’s indeed quite dangerous. If that happens, it would make it harder for me to continue hunt monsters and gain experience points.
On the day they were leaving the village, the vice captain of the Marwell knight order, Goti, approached and called out to me.
“Here, I’ll give this to you.”
He handed me a sealed envelope.
“This is a letter of recommendation for you to become a knight apprentice from me. If you ever change your mind and decide to try becoming a knight, take this with you and go to the capital of the Marwell County. I assure you that you will be welcomed there.”
With those words, they left the Machikane village. Well, I don’t think I’ll ever need it, but since it’s something I received from a noble, it can be useful in the future. For now, I’ll just put it in a wooden box in the corner of the barn.
As the Marwell knight order and the lumberjacks left the village, our life returned to normal. I continued to help my parents with farming work in the morning and hunt monsters near the lake in the afternoon. Also, I started to train combat techniques.
Recalling Adol’s fighting style, I trained myself in things like maintaining my distance from the enemy and my body movements.
Another several months has passed, and I’ve turned 11 years old. I still gain experience by hunting monsters day after day, but my levelling up progress has been slowing down.

Even though my status values haven’t increased much, I’ve become capable of defeating Horn Sabers and Forest Wolves without much trouble.
Observing the knight’s fighting style has also been really helpful. I’ve been training and practicing while envisioning Adol’s movements. I feel like I’m getting closer and closer to replicating his movements.
With that in mind, perhaps it’s time to take on stronger monsters so that I can gain more experience points.
I can’t make any progress if I keep avoiding risks! Therefore, I’ve decided go further into the forest.
