When I was Reincarnated into a Game World, I Was a Farmer’s Son - Chapter 22
Chapter 22
After reaching level 16, it became increasingly difficult to level up. It’s due to the fact that the required experience points for the next level increases as my level goes up.
Since I’ve become quite accustomed to fishing, I started to train while waiting the fish to take my bait. It’s obvious that by gaining only 15 experience points from single fish is really inefficient. Even with the 5x experience boost effect I got from the Sapphire Earrings, I only gain 75 experience points per fish, it is still not efficient enough.
Based on my current status values, I think I’ll need to reach around level 30 to be able to defeat weak monsters. When I play the game, The protagonist would have the ability to take on a mid-game boss at level 30. Well, I’m not in a hurry, and I have plenty of time, so I’ll just take it easy. I don’t want to take any risks.
After helping mom and dad at the farm in the morning, I told mom that I was going to go out play and head towards the lake. As soon as I arrive at the lake, I take out my fishing equipment and quickly attach some bait onto the fishing hook. Because I’ve been doing this for quite some time now, I’ve become quite used to fishing.
After I finished preparing my fishing equipment, I immediately cast the line into the lake. Not long after, I feel a tug, and before I knew it, another Yokozuna Devil took my bait. It seems like I’m quite lucky today. Sometimes it can take quite a while until I manage to catch a fish.
As usual, I reel the fish in, pulling it closer to me. Then, when I can see it clearly, I pull the fishing line with all my might, causing the Yokozuna Devil to leap out of the water.
The Yokozuna Devil is still energetically wriggling around on the ground.
Now, I should just finish it off as usual. Looking around, I find quite a big stone that I can barely pick up with both hands and lift it up.
I can feel the impact of my status values levelling up, as now I can pick up a big rock easier than when I first caught the Yokozuna Devil. As usual, I aim for the head of the Yokozuna Devil and smash it with the rock. Even with its head crushed, its body continues to wiggle around, so I repeatedly hit it with a wooden stick until it finally stops moving.
“Phew, now, let’s get onto the next one, shall we? …hmm?”
Suddenly, I got a feeling that something is staring at me from afar. I look around anxiously. All I can see are trees in the distant forest, nothing more.
Maybe it’s just my imagination? I’m sure it’s fine, I might be just overthinking things.
I move the stone that is crushing the lifeless head of the Yokozuna Devil aside, retrieved the fishing hook, and prepare for the next one. Then, I cast the fishing hook into the lake again.
“Grrrrr…”
It’s not my imagination after all!? I just heard a growl! When I look at the source of the voice, there is a black, wolf-like creature holding the Yokozuna Devil I caught earlier in its mouth. It is staring me with its intense red eyes. It clearly wants to attack me.
This is bad! It’s a monster!
