When I Reincarnated as the Villain of a Game World, I Created a Harem and Broke the Protagonist's Heart and Efforts! - Chapter 56 : Panacea
The walls of the alchemy room were lined with flasks, other experimental tools, and plants used for concoctions, filling the room with the scent of herbs.
The S-Class students, including myself, were gathered in one of the special rooms in the Magic Academy.
“Potions are recovery-boosting medicines created by adding magically produced water to finely crushed herbs with special properties.”
I was seated in the back row of the class, which was arranged in a stepped fashion similar to those in the classroom of my previous world. I was barely paying any attention to the teacher’s explanation.
The current lecture was one of the Magic Academy’s pharmacology classes, aimed at accumulating knowledge about various herbs and medicines.
The instructor began by explaining the potion, the most commonly used medicine in this world. Now, they were describing what a potion actually was.
To be honest, this explanation was utterly boring to me. In my quest to shatter the predestined scenario, I had acquired a wealth of knowledge to improve my adaptability to various situations, alongside gaining physical strength.
This included knowledge about potions, so everything the teacher said was something I already knew.
However, since I had never actually performed the concoction process, the practical part of the lesson seemed worthwhile.
“Now, let’s proceed to the concoction[1][TL/N : Concoction is a mixture of various ingredients or elements.]. Follow the instructions provided.”
Lost in my thoughts, I barely noticed the teacher had finished their explanation and gave us permission to start concocting. I immediately began mixing the ingredients.
First, I crushed several types of herbs into a fine powder.
Next, I added boiling water to the crushed herbs to extract their components, then filtered it to produce a light green liquid — the base solution.
Finally, mixing this liquid with the magically produced water was the most challenging part of making a potion.
There are three types of potions : low-grade, mid-grade, and high-grade. The difference lies in the purity of the potion, determined by the quality of the magically produced water. The quality here means how evenly the magic power is distributed in the water.
Typically, when creating water with magic, no one pays attention to the distribution of magic power, resulting in uneven concentrations. This unevenness affects the mixing of the two liquids, impacting the potion’s overall quality.
Experienced potion makers can adjust the amount of magic power or mix several batches of magically produced water to balance the magic power. However, most students, unaware of this, often fail. The teacher seemed to be aware of this and allowed us to proceed anyway.
But I wouldn’t fail like the other students because I can directly manipulate the magic power.
[Water Generation]
I created a sphere of water above my palm, removed all the magic power from it, producing pure water. Slowly, I reintroduced the magic power, evenly spreading it throughout the sphere, completing the task.
Pouring the evenly distributed magical water into the base solution and stirring, I watched the liquid’s color change. It turned a dark green initially, then gradually lightened.
The lighter the green, the higher the quality of the potion. Judging by the current pace, I was confident it would become a high-grade potion. However, an anomaly occurred as I watched the color change.
“Why isn’t the color change stopping? It’s already lighter than any high-grade potion I’ve seen.”
The color continued to lighten, surpassing the highest quality potion I had ever seen, almost turning transparent.
Confused by this unexpected result, I observed the potion start to change color again, this time to yellow. The potion gradually became a deeper golden hue.
When the color finally stabilized, a golden liquid shimmered before me. This was unlike any potion I had ever seen.
No, this wasn’t a potion at all.
“…Could it be, I’ve created a Panacea?”
A Panacea is the ultimate healing medicine, obtainable only within the special environment of dungeons. Its effects are astounding, capable of healing any injury or illness, and even regenerating lost body parts from scratch.
However, due to its rarity, found only in dungeons under extraordinary luck, its distribution is extremely limited. Its value is so high that even high-ranking nobles cannot afford it. Thus, even those who desperately want it for their loved ones cannot obtain it unless they are royalty.
So, what should I do now that I’ve created such a Panacea with my own hands?
“Now, what should I do with this…”
Understanding that I had created a Panacea, I left the class and now, during lunch break, sat in a private room for nobles in the academy’s dining hall, glaring at the Panacea on the table.
“Creating a Panacea… as expected, Master, you are really amazing.”
“But, what will you do with it?”
“That’s what I’m troubled about. If others notice it, I might get involved with troublesome people, and if they find out I made it, the Emperor might summon me.”
Due to its high value, merely possessing a Panacea can be a safeguard and a status symbol. Nobles, regardless of their rank, would covet it, and the Emperor wouldn’t let a person capable of making it slip away for the nation’s benefit.
To avoid complications, I should deal with this quickly.
“Sigh… I’m going back to class. What about you two?”
“Master, are you leaving already?”
“Yes. Lunch break isn’t over yet, so stay a little longer…”
As I stood up, Lilia and Lulua showed sad expressions. Since we started attending the academy, we have been spending less time together, and they are showing these expressions more frequently.
However, if I stayed here, I would endlessly worry about the Panacea, so I needed to return to the classroom. To brighten their mood I stood up and gave Lilia and Lulua a kiss each.
“Bear with this for now.”
“…Alright.”
“Understood…”
Both blushed, looking somewhat dazed. It seemed to have worked perfectly.
I felt a tug on my uniform and turned to see Serena looking at me with her finger pressed to her lips.
“…Hmmm.”
“…Let’s go.”
“Fufu, yes.”

“Excuse me, you there. May I have a moment?”
“Huh?”
Turning around at the sudden call, I saw a girl with fiery red hair tied high on her head standing beside Serena, who had been walking behind me. Judging by her appearance, she seemed to be a student of the academy, though I didn’t recall seeing such striking hair at the entrance ceremony. She must be in an upper grade.
“Do you need something?”
“Sorry for stopping you suddenly. I’m Reina Ruinveil, a third-year student.”
Reina Ruinveil…
Ah, I remember now. She is one of the heroines. If I recall correctly, there was an event to raise her favorability around this time.
As I remembered this, Reina pointed to the bottle in my hand.
“Is that a Panacea you’re holding?”
“Yes, it is. Why are you asking about it?”
I replied, realizing I had walked out with it in hand. Reina bowed her head towards me.
“Could you please give it to me?”
Despite being an earl’s daughter, she bowed her head so easily. Knowing her circumstances, I understood her desperation.
“I won’t ask for it for free. I’ll give you anything you want in return. Please, can you give it to me?”
“Hmm…”
There’s no benefit for me in giving the Panacea to Reina. Whatever she or her family could offer wouldn’t compare to what my ducal house could provide. Despite the potential trouble, my pride wouldn’t allow me to give it away without significant compensation.
“I refuse.”
“Can’t you reconsider? I’ll do anything! I desperately need it!”
“I said no. I won’t say it a third time.”
I released some magic power, slightly intimidating her. Reina flinched but then steeled her resolve.
“Please! I’ll prepare anything you want! If you desire, I’ll even give you my body!”
“You’re persistent. How many times must I say—”
I stopped mid-sentence. Reina was puzzled, and silence fell as neither she nor Serena spoke.
This could be useful.
I smiled wickedly and turned to face Reina.
“I’ve changed my mind. I’ll give you the Panacea.”
“Really?”
Reina’s face lit up with joy, but it quickly darkened.
“In return, Reina, I’ll take your body.”

I agree. Get rid of the panacea. Or else you’ll never get peace. In fact, why don’t you keep your identity hidden and then sell panaceas in the market on occasion via a shell company and third party? Then Wraith will make LOADS and LOADS of money!! 🤑
