Chapter 15: Talking with the Student Council President
“S-Sorry for disturbing you…”
“Just sit wherever you like.”
After Shinomiya-senpai said that, I sat down on the sofa placed in the center.
“Can you drink coffee?”
“Ah, yes! I’m fine with it.”
“Just wait a moment, okay?”
I was going to say, “Don’t worry about it,” but she seemed happy as she started preparing the coffee, so I stayed quiet.
(What does she want…?)
I was brought here to the student council room.
To be honest, this was my first time here, and the facilities were way too well-equipped for a high school. I was shocked.
(Don’t tell me… she found out?)
It was Shinomiya-senpai who appeared when I was getting really involved with Hinata-san and the others in the gym storage room.
Back then, she didn’t catch us, and I thought I got away with it… but being called here less than a day later makes me feel really uneasy.
“Here you go.”
“…Thank you.”
Unpleasant sweat ran down my spine, and my hands were about to shake… no, they were shaking.
As I took the cup of coffee, the surface of the liquid trembled, clearly showing how unsteady my hands were.
“Nervous? I just wanted to ask you something that’s been on my mind, so if you could relax, that would help.”
“…Got it.”
“Hehe, have a drink and calm down first.”
Yeah… she went out of her way to make it, so I should drink it and settle myself.
I blew on it softly to cool it down and slowly took a sip… the warm coffee went down my throat, and I started to feel calmer.
“How is it?”
“It’s really good.”
“I’m glad. Then I guess I’ll have some too.”
Unlike my awkward self, Shinomiya-senpai was very graceful.
(…She really is an amazing beauty, in her own way.)
She’s a different type than Hinata-san or Arisa-san.
Her long, wavy silver hair and perfectly shaped face, which has a slightly cold feel to it, give off an elegant beauty.
Her sharp eyes are said to be scary, but people also say that part of her charm is not bad either… and to top it all off, her figure is just as amazing as Hinata-san’s and the others’.
(…Seriously, why was I called here?)
…No, I shouldn’t get timid.
No matter what she wants to talk about, I just have to answer as myself… Bring it on.
“Alright, let’s have a little talk then.”
Here it comes!
“What I want to ask you is about something specific. There’s a girl named Motomiya Hinata in my class.”
“…!”
My heart jumped, but hopefully, it didn’t show on my face.
Still… hearing her name come out of senpai’s mouth was so perfectly timed, it freaked me out.
Shinomiya-senpai continued speaking as she stared straight at me.
“A classmate said they saw you with Motomiya-san. It’s not something I’d normally care about, but that same classmate said it looked like Motomiya-san was bullying you.”
“…Huh?”
Me… being bullied by Hinata-san…?
What kind of terrible lie is that…? I mean, yeah, when I first had sex with Hinata-san, she did tease me in a lot of ways…
“From your reaction, I guess that’s not the case?”
“Of course not. I’m not being bullied at all.”
“I figured. But I had a reason to ask… Motomiya-san isn’t exactly known for being a model student, and you two never had any connection before.”
“Ah~…”
That… might be something to wonder about.
A normal person might not care, but as the student council president, even a small comment like that might bother her.
“So that’s why you called me here?”
“Yes, and I’m glad there’s nothing to worry about. If you really were in trouble, I was ready to help as student council president.”
“Thank you for that.”
From the way things are going, it looks like there’s nothing to worry about.
But still… for her to go out of her way for just one student like this, she’s a really amazing student council president.
People say she seems cold, or that the way she rejects confessions is harsh, but… even if all that’s true, from my point of view now, she seemed very kind.
“That’s all I needed to ask. Thanks, Mikasa-kun.”
“Not at all. I’ll be heading out then.”
“Yes, take care on your way home.”
Feeling relieved that nothing bad happened, I stopped just before leaving the student council room.
“What is it?”
“……………”
Honestly, it might not mean anything even if I say it… but just in case something like this happens again, I thought I should speak up.
“I’ve gotten close with Hinata-san lately. To me, she’s a very kind person, and sometimes I think she’s incredibly cute.”
“Oh my, you say that much?”
“That’s how close we’ve become.”
With that, I left the student council room.
I was relieved that nothing happened, and also glad that the misunderstanding about Hinata-san was cleared up… Whew, I was a bit tense, so now I feel tired.
“……………”
“Good job.”
“!? “
Just as I stepped out of the student council room and let out a breath, a voice rang in my ears and made me jump.
“Hinata-san…?”
“Yeah.”
Standing there was Hinata-san.
She was leaning against the wall right near the door, slightly blushing as she blew a bubble with her gum… Wait, no way!?
“Um… were you listening?”
“…Yeah.”
Later, I asked about it again on the way to the shoe lockers.
Apparently, Hinata-san saw me being taken by Shinomiya-senpai and got curious, so she followed us.
“Sorry.”
“You don’t need to apologize. I was surprised, but I didn’t say anything that I’d be embarrassed about… but—”
“I’m not bothered about that stupid rumor of me bullying you. You already denied it so clearly.”
“…Of course I did. It’s the complete opposite, after all.”
“Hehe♪”
Even after leaving the lockers, I didn’t part ways with Hinata-san.
As we exited the school gates and walked across the sports ground, we saw Kanato practicing soccer, sweating hard, and Rio seriously watching him.
“Your friends?”
“Yeah. You could say they’re like my best friends.”
“Which ones?”
I pointed them out to her.
“I might know the boy, not so sure about the girl. A classmate was talking about a good-looking underclassman, so maybe that’s him.”
“Hmm…”
“But to me, Tsubaki’s more my type.”
“…Thank you.”
After watching the soccer practice for a bit, we started walking again.
We didn’t say what we’d do next or how long we’d stay together, just kept walking when—behind us, we heard the ring of a bike bell.
“…? Hinata-san.”
“Huh?”
I turned around, just in case, and the bike was still coming.
I placed my hand on Hinata-san’s shoulder and pulled her close to keep her safe. Meanwhile, the idiot riding the bike kept messing with his phone… and crashed right into a utility pole.
“Tch… That’s what you get for looking at your phone while biking.”
“Thanks, Tsubaki.”
“No, no, he’s the one at fault.”
The guy who fell off the bike turned bright red and started cursing.
He looked like he hurt himself somewhere, but since he brought it on himself, I didn’t feel like worrying at all.
“Hey, Tsubaki.”
“Yes?”
“Want a candy?”
“Can I?”
“Sure.”
Hinata-san took the lollipop she was sucking on out of her mouth and, in one smooth move, popped it into mine.
Of course, it was a little slimy, but the sweet orange flavor filled my mouth and tasted good… Still, I didn’t expect to get a candy someone else had been licking.
“…Um, it’s kinda embarrassing being stared at like that.”
“I’m just watching Tsubaki enjoy the candy. That’s all.”
As I awkwardly sucked on the candy, Hinata-san whispered while watching me with a smile.
“I’m looking forward to the weekend.”
My heart skipped a beat, but I nodded.
